• The makings of Adan

  Adan A. DiAngelo was born into a modest family in the fictional midevil city of Tregaron, enjoying an upper middle class lifestyle and a very militaristic education, as was costomary for all boys his age. Adan was very much a runt in comparison to the other boys, and so instead of brute strength, he used skill and cunning to his advantage in combat scenarios. This eventually attracted the attention of Malenki Deveroux when Adan was twelve. Malenki was a military prodigy at seventeen, and as far as Tregaron was concerned he was training to be the next general and go down in history as calming the tensions with neighboring nations Carbery and Wigston. Under Malenki's teachings for four years, Adan advanced not only as a combatant, but as a human being. Since he was under a high ranking officer, he had access to the archives, wich held information from as far back as the founding of Tregaron. With this knowledge and the thoughtfulness and brilliance he was gifted by his patron goddess, he began to question the existing system in Tregaron, deep down knowing the King's closest advisor Lykos Phoster was certainly up to no good as the King's health began to fail.

• Too Smart for His Own Good

  Though Adan has no clue who his father diety was as the diety never revealed itself, his patron mother diety was wisdom, and as such Adan developed extreme stubbornness and lack to conformity, especially regarding his beliefs on how people should be treated in Tregaron. When the King died and Lykos came to power, many things changed in the city. The few rights women were given were taken away, the military was to enforce curfew, and basic human freedoms such as life, liberty and a right to trial were taken away. Yet no one fought Lykos. The people of Tregaron were as unaware as zombies, completely accepting their new dictator. But for some reason Adan would learn later, there were a few people who resisted and knew that whatever was happening was wrong. Pity they were all publicly tortured and executed, including Malenki at the age of twenty one, and Asan himself at the young age of sixteen.

• His Patron God

  Death is not something one usually welcomes, in fact most avoid it as long as possible. Adan did not. He spoke out publicly against Lykos and the Phoster family's rule often and loudly, and this slowly built up momentum over time as just before his death he would evacuate a town of innocents against a raid by Tregaron, and be killed shortly after by Lykos' own hand after seven days of agonizing torment. He did not even make it to his public execution, and he died in the torture room from his injuries. His regret for not changing Tregaron for the better was so fierce, his hatred, compassion and fury were all he remembered in his short time as a spirit, and such was the nature of himself that he was offered a second chance, in the way of a lost child of Death searching for love and escape from his own diety. When the portal to the underworld was opened, Adan literally clawed and fought his way out of the underworld for another chance at life, and just after his quite gruesome revival was claimed as a fellow child of Death, only the third child since the creation of the world.

• Onyx is Born

  One does not simply awaken a previously dead being into the world of the living again in a body carefully sewn together and placed into a ritual room without repercussions, as second child of Death Cailean O. E. Phoster would learn. The repercussions however, were far worth the benefit for Cailean because now not only did he have a way to cheat his father's lethal plans for himself by binding his soul to the creature's but the boy had always hoped he would find the thing his Goddess had been promising him since his birth. What he got however was Adan, whom he renamed Onyx, that could not speak, move, or eat without aid for the first several months. Then after the body Cailean had built became capable enough, the tormented soul within would scream, cry, claw itself and attack Cailean, mind still halfway between this world and the next. However, the now bound pair persevered, and that regrettable creature Cailean brought back to life one dark stormy night would eventually change the course of history, and become the lover Cailean had sought.
