• Description

  This youthful man, no older than his late teens has an eagerness about him. He is of a slender build, and stands a hand shorter than most. His dirty blonde hair is cut short with the sides and back shorter still, fading into stubble. He is dressed in a fine long sleeved tunic, the brocade of a deep crimson color in a beautiful decorative pattern. At the v-shaped collar, an under tunic of pure white cloth is visible. His waist is accentuated by a black belt with an oversized golden buckle. Plain black trousers blend into clean black boots on his feet.

• Biography

  Cael Holby is the only son of Baron Bardolph Holby and his first wife, Lady Catherine Greybranch. Lady Catherine tragically passed away from a fever when Cael was just a young boy. For nearly a year after her passing, the Baron was distant from his son in grief. Then, from what appeared to be out of nowhere, the Baron announced a political marriage to Lady Catherine's younger sister, Mary. Life within the Holby estate began to feel more familiar to the young Cael. His stepmother physically resembled her sister, and her interactions with the boy, while not motherly, were kind and polite. Mary quickly bore the Baron another son, Jorin, and two daughters, Edith and Lucetta.
  
  Cael's childhood from that point on was just as any other highborn child's. He would play with his siblings, despite being five years older than Mary first child, Jorin, and they regarding him as though he were a full sibling. He spent much of his time with his tutors, and his father paid for an expensive sparring coach (at which Cael never excelled.)
  
  It was in Cael's fifteenth year when rumors began to spread around the castle. Rumors of his legitimacy being questioned were common. Over time, his father had uncovered a plot against Cael's life. Keeping this knowledge secret, from even Cael himself, Bardolph sent his son and heir away from the castle, to continue his education at foreign courts, far away from the plotters.
