• Description

  Feral:
  A towering monstrosity of a Feral Dragon, Veluren is everything that stories tend to speak of when they describe ferals. Usually towering at roughly thirty feet tall (toe to head tip) and at least forty long (tail tip to snout), he's a relatively aged behemoth of his species. His back, legs, and head are covered in massive individual scales that are a bright, shiny silver-white color, each one rough to run a hand against and hard enough to require magic or enchanted weaponry to hurt. On his underside from the end of his chin all the way to his tail are instead more plated crimson colored scales even harder than those on his back to protect him from violent assaults on his sensitive organs. His eyes are a predatory gold flanked by black sclera, and are usually varying degrees of open between circles and narrowed slits, depending on how he's feeling.
  
  His body shape is as traditional as one could expect from a feral dragon. His head has two massive horns curving back, grown out from decades of living. Compared to his scales which are still clearly identifiable as biological despite the white sheen, his horns actually have such a silver sheen they look like the metal his color is named after. On either side of his head, he has two fins that defensively cover auditory membranes that he uses to hear.
  
  His overall shape starts at a broad snout filled with teeth sharp enough to rend metal with ease, leading to a thick neck down to a large torso. His chest cavity is rather large and broad, nesting what's likely a large heart and lungs. From his chest to his belly his form only raises up a little, a prey-rich life giving him a nice belly that's equally muscle and fat. His tail starts at his flank and rapidly shrinks as it gets closer to the end, though muscular enough to be capable of lashing with absurd force. At the very end is a crimson, spade-like spike useful for swatting away anything trying to hurt him by attacking from behind.
  
  His wings are their own limbs, leathery and see through without connecting to his body anywhere else. Splayed in direct sunlight the wing membranes shimmer like there's crystals inside of them, making for quite the pretty display when flying or just showing off. He has five-fingered paws covered in much softer scales that he uses for quadrupedal movement. Each one has three joints for more dexterous movements, including an opposable thumb for gripping on his forepaws (his hindpaws lack these). Each individual finger ends in massive ebony claws that can easily shred prey.
  
  Vel's resting face is... intense. Belaying his kinder personality, he tends to give all his attention to whoever he's currently speaking to and exerting a pressure on them with his stare. Anyone who sees him looking at them in silence could easily mistake him for the legendary monster he looks like until he begins speaking and emoting and showing the kind person he actually is.
  
  Anthro:
  
  When Vel uses his shapeshifting magic to turn into his bipedal form, many of these features change to make him look "Younger" or "Idealized" as to what he thinks mortals think an approachable dragon looks like. Most importantly, the silver scales on his back are covered by brilliant red runes constantly pulsing all over his skin, these runes are what lock him in that form and can't be removed by anything but Vel willing them to disappear. Much of his extra weight sheds, leaving him looking like a slim but muscled anthro. His horns shorten to be less likely to cause damage or scuff marks, as do his claws to prevent any unfortunate scratches. His snout narrows to make it significantly more defined between where his mouth ends and his skull begins, and his tail narrows and loses muscle to keep from instinctively lashing something with the force of a metal bat. In settings where dragons are unacceptable in any form, or where they'd REALLY get in the way, he can even shift away his wings to parade as a horned lizard. In this form his size is variable and mostly depending on how he's feeling, being a towering ten feet at his tallest, or five at the shortest.
  
  His clothing in this form shows his time-trapped mindset, assuming the story is taking place in a modern setting (in medieval settings it's more fitting); simple purple cloth pants and a blue silk vest that's almost see-through, he hates the feeling of his scales being constrained as a creature who's naked in his natural form, so he keeps his clothing as little and as thin as possible.
  
  Due to his inexperience with magic, his shapeshifting has the major flaw of not magicking away his true form's weight, thus while he can appear as a shorter bipedal dragon, his relative weight is that of his true form's. This is both a blessing (A punch is delivered with several tons more force than you'd think.) and a curse (His smaller wings can't support his weight for flight, and soft surfaces like stairs, chairs, and two-story buildings break under him). This is evidently clear on dirt roads or sand, as his footsteps will generally sink much deeper than logic dictates he should.

  Vel can be defined as a dragon of two minds. While he ultimately wants to a kind, friendly sort who makes plenty of friends, his birth and growth as a born feral dragon mean he's far more animalistic than he's comfortable with when something gets him to show it.
  
  Once his shy shell is broken, Vel proves himself to be somewhat childlike due to his lack of social graces or general socialization with people not trying to kill him. He enjoys puns (especially groaners), is easily excitable, and has a habit of smiling with all his teeth, not realizing that even in his smaller body, smiling with teeth the size of daggers isn't likely to endear someone to him. Regardless, he's easily attached to people he likes and becomes a fierce protector and loyal friend.
  
  Ultimately, Vel has one desperate want and desire in his life: friendships. His friends are his greatest treasure over even his hoard. He'll spoil, dote on, cuddle and protect those he's found sincere fondness for with his magical experience and ridiculous accumulation of wealth. Though, this can also make him seem like the type who thinks throwing money at things can fix any problem... granted as a dragon, what money can't fix fire or teeth probably can.
  
  Many believe him clumsy, because of a habit to get tripped up over his own talons or knock things around with his wings or tail. While he'll insist it's because he's not adjusted to his bipedal form, the sad truth is that he really is just that clumsy, and even in his true form he tends to stumble now and then.
  
  Like most dragons he has a hoard he values more than almost anything. While he has a severe love of gold and gems, his true hoard is jokes in either book form or quickly scrawled down after he heard them in public, stuffed under the more generic dragon hoard of valuables. Shiny gems still work as a good way to distract or wipe the Dragon's train of thought.
  
  Due to an imperfection in his sizeshifting magic, he still burns energy comparative to and needs nutrition for his true form, meaning that he's likely to be snacking on meat at any given time to keep himself going, and tends to clean out pantries of visiting houses that give him free reign to their kitchen.
  
  Those are his kind, friendly quirks. But as is the schism between his mindsets, he has a bit of a darker side to him if the situation grows grim enough.
  
  He tries to not wear his Draconic pride or "lesser race" complex on his sleeve, but a dragon can only go so far, Vel in particular has a habit of looking at other races as children that need protecting from themselves (a trait he picked up from his mother), even if he does enjoy their company greatly. One thing he'll never say is "mortal" because he feels like the word, despite being accurate for a long-lived or immortal dragon to anyone else, still holds a "better than you" air to it.
  
  Not violent by any means, Veluren prefers to talk situations out and try to avert combat as much as possible if he doesn't want to fight back, that only magic or enchanted weapons can pierce his hide helps with that as he can just take punishment while he defuses the situation. The exception are those who have committed evil acts. While he'll overlook petty or even grand theft, things like murder and rape strike at the core of the lawful Dragon's being. None who have admitted to crimes like that within earshot of him have lived much longer even if they're in a supposedly safe area, they disappear shortly after, Vel is deceptively crafty when he sets his eyes on a target and will stalk them until such a time he can devour them without incurring the wrath of civilized society despite trying to live among it.
  
  When his predatory instincts are triggered Vel becomes a noticeably different creature. Mocking, taunting, treating his prey like toys, and thinking he'll let them get away before finishing them off, anyone familiar with his nicer side would be shocked and horrified to learn how much of a stereotypical dragon he actually is when his instincts take hold, despite only taking out his more wicked side on those who arguably deserve it.

• Abilities

  As mentioned, Veluren's proudest accomplishment with his budding magic is his modifications of his body, allowing him to change not just size but his very form. A consequence of his inability to figure out how to rid his shapeshifted form of his true self's mass means that he can punch, kick, and tail swipe like something five times larger than he actually is, giving him (comparative) super strength, but with the tradeoff of lacking balance and causing a lot of collateral damage.
  
  Aside from his sizeshifting, Vel is just starting out with his draconic magic and doesn't have much rhyme or reason with how he does magic, just that he does do magic. A lot of his practice spells are completely utilitarian, such as short ranged telekinesis or fire magic for cooking.
  
  The final alteration he made to his body was a change to his dragonbreath. In addition to red fire, he can breathe out silvery flames that only burn in relation to his enmity towards what he's breathing at. This allows him to breathe indiscriminately in the heat of battle and not worry about friendly fire. However, switching between what type of fire he uses requires a magical ritual, meaning he has to know in advance if he needs Red or Silver flames.
  
  As a dragon, he possesses razor sharp talons, a tail that can easily break bones, and teeth that at their largest in his true form are the size of broadswords. He also has the generic dragon protection of incredibly thick scales that make traditional weaponry all but useless. His fighting style lacks much elegance, be it in his true form or bipedal he doesn't waste time with flashy moves, instead opting for pragmatism. Claw swipes, throat-crushing (or head-removing) bites and fire breath seek to end combat as quickly as possible with only one result, situations where he'll use combat magic are relatively rare compared to just getting in and fighting.
  
  When combat magic is forced to be involved, he prefers runecrafting magics; scrawling them into either the ground or keeping slips with runes pre-drawn on them on his person. These runes have a minor delay and being forced to draw them fresh makes them easy to destroy, but are much, much stronger as a payoff.

• The Dragon that devours souls

  Vel is a soul eater. If he eats a sentient creature, alive or recently-dead, his stomach also prevents their souls from moving on while explicitly magical processes digest the prey's soul as well as their flesh. If he "Digests" a soul, they get trapped in a heaven-like paradise in his body where they can repent for any horrible deeds they did for a chance at the proper afterlife for good people when he dies, and in the meantime he'll feed off of their spirits for power (and can visit and talk to them in said dream realm). If a soul is digested, it may on occasion under strong light appear as a shadow-like figure dancing across his scales before disappearing, he usually passes this off as a trick of the light but sometimes extremely discernible forms can show up, making it a bit harder to hide.
  
  Heaven is the name of the false paradise inside of Vel's scales. Any soul that is captured via digestion is swept by a rush of magical essence into his body and arrive here. It's not mean ironically at all and is as close to the real deal as possible. The purpose of it is simple. As an inherently good creature, Vel is often doing good deeds, thus by devouring the souls of evildoers and using their magic to empower himself, they're redeemed for any bad deeds they had committed in life, helped along by Vel giving often sincere and patient kindness to nudge them towards redemption openly. When he dies they'll be released in a flood of souls to the next world, redeemed and ready for the true heaven to accept them.
  
  The Capital City is a massive, Venetian-styled canal city covered in sidewalks and rivers traveled by Gondola. Shining marble buildings make up the architecture and can just form at will to accommodate the current population. The city itself is circular, the northern end leading into grassy fields and forest, the southern end leading to a wide sea. In the dead center is a massive tower that reaches up to the sky, this is where Vel stays when he enters his own mind to talk to the souls imprisoned within, assuming he's not walking the street. Each apartment of the tower is the size of a palace, Vel has had errant thoughts of devouring the souls of those close to him when they're dying of age so they never have to leave him, these VIP suites would be their homes for the rest of Vel's life.
  
  Souls living there live a perfect simulacrum of life. Hobbies, books, food (and assuming a modern setting, television and games). The things available to them reflect Vel's own knowledge so if he's eagerly reading through a book, eating new food, or lost in a video game, he's probably depositing it inside of his heaven to keep those inside entertained. Even if he personally voids the information, once he's experienced it once it's inside of his spiritual realm forever. They're not under a delusion of course, Vel welcomes each and every one of them personally, often morosely explaining the fate of their physical body and the repentance they now have to exist through; being a part of Vel's body until he dies for guaranteed redemption.
  
  There is of course a tax on living there. Every month Vel takes a fragment of their souls to power his magic and life force like a symbiotic relationship. Souls are resilient things however, and as he'll never destroy them, whatever he takes they'll naturally regenerate on their own. Every soul Vel adds is invariably fuel for stronger and stronger magic he can use in the real world.
  
  The... scale, of his scales, show that his body is well aware that he's naturally immortal and may come to the point where he has thousands of souls living in him at once. The main city will grow massively in response to reaching max capacity, and even outside of the city are grasslands and forests where people with different tastes may wish to settle to be alone. The city alone? Only a single scale on Vel's entire body. Would that such eventually becomes necessary, the scope of Vel's spiritual realm may be on par with Earth and capable of holding millions.
  
  Projecting himself inside of his own mind and body, Vel writes the rules of reality inside of his spiritual realm and can rewrite them at will, warp himself or others so perfectly that there's no disconnect, become invisible, ect. ect. Mostly, lack of flexing his control in this world comes from lack of a desire to do so, not an inability to. In his heaven, he has absolute power.

  1.) Always RP friendly, just give me a buzz and keep in mind which verse you're inviting me to join in on. Vel generally doesn't have a human form.
  
  2.) Vel's very much a wish-fulfillment fursona, while beatable in a combat scenario, he is, by his nature, too strong for a balanced story with fighting. If you try to get me into combat I'll keep it as fair as possible, but I will try my best to avoid it coming to blows to begin with if at all possible. Soft, comfortable slice of life RP is heavily favored.
  
  3.) Though taking a lot of inspiration from DnD, Vel is not a straight DnD silver dragon, that's just used as a baseline. His body is a bit longer in proportion, and silvers like him have individualizing factors that manifest differently in every silver. This is why he has a crimson underbelly instead of being a single, solid color and such a light shade of silver it blurs the line to being white.
