One day, a little Chris threw a tantrum, "I want to be a Vaporeon!" over and over. And after a few minutes of her high-toned cries and wiggling on the floor, her mother said, "Fine. Fine, you can be a Vaporeon." And her mother had scraped together enough money to purchase a small Vaporeon suit. And thus, little Chris ran around everyday as a Vaporeon. But the children at school weren't as overjoyed as she was. She returned from school, crying, in her Vaporeon suit and throwing herself onto the sofa, she laid there until her mother came by, sighing, "Why are you crying." And Chris said something about them laughing at her when she said she wanted to be a Vaporeon when she grew up. Her mother shook her head and had calmed her, slowly, "You can be whatever you want when you grow up...but maybe you'd rather be a firefighter instead? Vaporeons can be firefighters too."

Then when she was a bit older, one fisherman, having watched Chris watch the Pokemon off the dockside, lent her his old fishing pole, "'ere ya go lass. I can see it in yer eye, yer a fishin' sort. 'ere, I'll teach ya, if ya wanna learn." This was the best day of suspension from school ever and she spent quite a few days with the old man, until her mother said she couldn't visit him anymore.

Armed with a fishing pole, an old pokedex that she found in the dumpster outside school, and determination, she set off to fish. But she didn't catch anything but Magikarp, and had no other use for them, so she slowly got better at cooking them. First one was terrible tasting though. Almost losing her will to continue her dream, a lone trainer approached her and said that he had been watching her fish day after day. Expressing her constant search for a vaporeon, the trainer invited her to travel with him for a bit to a place where vaporeon played.

Upon arrival, they came upon a sandy beach. In a small alcove of a cave, a few vaporeon lounged about. And the trainer sent out his pikachu, to which he ordered to weaken the other pokemon. But the vaporeons never heard of fighting one-on-one, and more appeared out of the water, their focused water guns soon defeating the pikachu, and the trainer, and then Chris. Wet, bruised, and defeated, Chris returned home to an empty house. But she went to bed and woke up the next day, still determined. Returning to that spot, she laid food and treats for the vaporeons, and one day, a vaporeon broke from the pack to sniff and eat the snacks. It had made a sound much like a cat, and Chris named it Kitty.
