• Biography

  The Four Kingdoms
  
  Divided into four regions in the outermost cardinal directions four ruling kingdoms and realms keep sentry on established borders. To the South lies the kingdom of man and his alliances; knights, men-at-arms, merchants, peasants and royalty all dwelling within the safe confines of his realm and outside the reach of the savage creatures and nefarious beings both of man and less savory beings.
  
  The North is savagery, barbaric tribes and Northmen often seeking little more than plunder and pillage to satiate their nefarious and natural rights over those beings smaller and weaker than they. While these barbarians squabble constantly among themselves when not held together by a common cause farther North lay the grand mountains of Knor. Only the largest and most ferocious of creatures make their realm here and thus has been the site of many tales brought back by traveling merchants and likewise that have come relatively close to this unforgiving domain. Indeed, the most renowned story to originate from these mountains is claimed by the self-titled Knor Titans, primordial bipedal animals in the parody of a man and standing many heads taller than he. Fortunately for the rest of the kingdoms these beings are incredibly rare and rarer still in population that slowly dwindles with each passing year. Mostly alive in stories and tales, none truly know the agenda of the Knor Titans and it very well may be that the concerns of the outside world is not that of their's.
  
  The East was once a verdant realm kept dominion over by a race long since perished. Grand edifices have crumbled into naught but dust and what remains is little of ancient tomes that themselves are mere fragments in the libraries of the South kingdom. The Shaye, as has been gleaned and translated from what little fragments of recorded history still remained, were immensely potent people untroubled by the plagues and plights of today's kingdoms. Far ahead of their time their domain was a spectacle beyond the labeling of a phenomenon and themselves miracles manifested as perceived demigods all. What would be considered 'Magic' today was the lifeblood of the Shaye and as well ran as naturally as blood had through their veins. None today can say for sure what had brought ruin to these superior beings. A popular theory was there was a cataclysmic clash of terrifying proportions that occurred between they and the Knor Titans, the contesting power during the Shaye's time of indisputable rule; the end result destroyed one power and left the survivor a slowly dwindling race left better to myth and speculation by later races. Now, this vast realm is that of the dead and none of the living walk here, lest they invite the vengeful spirits that wait so eagerly for the living to enter into their realm and claim what is rightfully their's.
  
  To the West...? There stories and legends aplenty have arisen since ages past and will continue for ages to come...
  
  
  Sy'sh, Assassins of the Sands
  
  To the far West sprawls a never-ceasing expanse of the crawling desert. The unprepared and ignorant swiftly die in this harsh realm where every bit of natural resource is sheer competition for the natural fauna and wildlife. Very few oasis exist and those that are found are the subjects of wondrous stories brought back by travelers that have managed to brave these bone-dry and weltering lands. What makes this never-ending desert the subject of as many stories as the other realms is the people that dwell there. Foremost, travelers described in great detail the sheer wealth in these lands for those that risked life and limb, of the people of the sands that took for granted the greed-inducing precious metal of gold. Every denizen sported the precious metal as if it were as plentiful as peasant's stone earring or ring. In that sense even the low class of this society is comparably wealthy and can easily rival that of Barons, Dukes and other similar rank of royalty. Many other precious metals and stones are used or incorporated into their choice of wardrobe, which never fails to inspire awe and fascination in the other races.
  
  The Sy'sh are a rather enigmatic people due to their geographical isolation and reluctance to involve themselves in the outside world aside from dispatched 'diplomats'. Diplomacy of these diplomats are commonly negotiated with the edge of a flesh-searing blade or heart perforating instrument of death. It is from the sacred temples of the assassins of the sand that reside and seek refuge in these sanctuaries of unspoiled sites. None outside have set foot within these temples and none shall so long as their deadly occupants remain standing. As those from outside have rarely been seen so have the disciples of the Sa'Vod Ty'Lek been seen in the other three realms; it is so that it is, and that it is so. The only sign that outsiders will know that such a deadly instrument has infiltrated their realms is the moment their leaders both militaristic and royal have been discovered meticulously and cleanly eliminated. It is not the pay that sparks the interest in these dread assassins, but the opportunity to hone their skills in competition against each other for competition is rife.
  
  Becoming a disciple of the Sa'Vod Ty'Lek is an arduous and long task that does not always produce an assassin in the end. Most that fail to complete the training choose to end their worthless lives there and then or to leave the Western realm permanently to find a new life in a more forgiving domain. Should the initiate successfully complete the training then he will shortly be assigned an assassination task. All assassins are appointed targets according to their level of skill and thus it is many an aspiring assassin looking to master their trade to be assigned to assassinate a King or Queen of the other races. Those knowledgeable of the Sy'sh will know the importance of the assassin in question and possible 'rank' according to the level of adornment present on their body, as each piece is added upon a successful task. These are all unmistakably gold or some other precious metal or gem to signify their success and skill. Typically small trinkets they're as well crafted to copy the owners personality while keeping with the traditional crafting style of Sa'Vod Ty'Lek while satiating the owner's personal taste that best suits them. Any self-respecting Sa'Vod Ty'Lek disciple can spot another from a mile away and be able to interpret all and any of his or her accomplishments.
  
  Sy'sh are deceptively spindly and sinuous creatures of a foreshortened stature. With an average height of only 5'3"-5'5" they're not particularly intimidating physicality-wise. Consisting of a lithe frame riddled with sinuous and corded muscle their movements are whip-esque and equally as sharp, instrumental in delivering meticulous strikes meant to incapacitate or outright slay. Maneuverability and dexterity more than makes up for their lack of physical presence in sheer strength and size, movements whipcord and surprisingly packed with force. Protracted combat focusing on exertion of strength, therefore, is very much unsavory and avoided at all costs. The least movements used to incapacitate or slay an opponent as facilitated, the better. While the Sy'sh aren't flamboyant in their movements the extent of their maneuvers may appear as such, although in reality they always strive to seek a new method to replace their current set if it means bettering themselves.
  
  Sy'sh are an exceptional breed, one only found in the desert of the Western realm. As the Southern kingdom is a large ethnic mixing pot, the North and East their own, the Sy'sh are easily enough distinguishable outside of the rather contrasting style of clothing they sport. On the rare occasion they're not purposefully shielded from prying eyes these creatures are small and gracefully lithe. Specific features include their short, whip-like tails; elongated, slender snouts; short, coarse fur and slightly elongated toes to make grasping an easier feat for traversing more difficult terrain. Sy'sh of the lower echelon often cover their body extensively with traditionally oriented clothing, not limited to but including tuaregs, tunics, futahs, burnooses, milaya lefs and so on. Most tend to keep their facial area obscured by practically most means and sport relatively light clothing to keep their movements unhindered. In that sense, it isn't uncommon to see them garbed in short sarongs, somewhat thick trousers and light tunics with a different arrangement off head veils. Given the versatility of each assassin there is always a vast array of different setups as is accordingly desired and fitted to each individual. For example, some may include light armor designed to their taste, but only the most experienced normally do such a thing due to the disadvantage it may give.
  
  
  Ta'Dore'Ich, Flayerkin
  
  Ta'Dore'Ich is a mid-level tier disciple of the Sa'Vod Ty'Lek temple, designated the title of 'Flayerkin'. Flayerkin are those that have an innate knack for exploiting weakness in the armor of the enemy and having an extensive knowledge of the anatomy and its vital points. Each swing, jab and strike of the blade WILL incapacitate or kill if given the opportunity and capitalizes, especially, on the ability to do as such with as few strikes as possible. No other title can achieve this feat as the Flayerkin cannot achieve any other title's particular ability. While they may incorporate customized and short-ranged sidearms they're typically at unfavorable odds against an opponent that combats with ranged weaponry as they're forced to close in on their target in order to be effective.
  
  Magic is hardly understood and held in suspicion by most races. Sy'sh make use of bound weaponry impregnated by the extraordinary power of magic and is accordingly assigned to only the most versed assassins, normally the top assassin of each title. Indeed, Ta'Dore'Ich's weapons are mundane tools of his trade, but none the less deadly for it. Each has been specifically crafted down to every possible spec as to make the weapon feel as much an extension to him as his arm. Their ornamental crafting make them appear more akin to ceremonious blades than combat blades, although that is a grave assumption to make. Crafted from an alloy of a trace of gold and a metal found only in the Western region these blades are bane to flesh, muscle and bone and to light and certain medium armored foes bar heavier adaptations. Sidearms include a punching blade fitted to include a handle for the hand, putting the blade just above the knuckles akin to brass knuckles with a set of small caliber sidearms fixated to the sides. These primitive powder operated sidearms are normally fired when extra reassurance is needed and often when the eight inch blade is already plunged into the victim, sending double lead balls into the body of the target for good measure. Given they're one shot they're only used when absolutely necessary.
  
  Ta'Dore'Ich's main arsenal are twin blades that are detachable from their fixated spot on his arms. Having become quite dexterous with them he can wield the set with impressive show and much more. Each has been crafted to be entirely identical to the other, light and quite durable. When detached an under-slung grip can be pulled up and locked into place so the blade is under his arm for better control and stronger strikes. For longer reach without the need for strength he can wield them like any other sword. Many targets have fallen to the blades and, eventually, so will a King. Lastly, he has a contraption in his sleeve that can be activated with the flick of his wrist to send a pair of darts to shoot out, normally laced with a thin layer of debilitating venom to weaken his foe.
  
  He wears light and somewhat bloused trousers with no footwear as the Sy'sh have exceptionally thick pads on their hands and feet to brave the terrain. His torso is adorned by a light, tight-fitting tunic riddled with unrecognizable symbols. His head is shrouded, partially, in cloth and by an ornamental mask crafted from what appears to be gold and, as well, riddled with ornamental symbols. It started out plain and continues to gain additions with each assassination. Lastly the Sy'sh maintains a double-banded strand of hair that reaches just above the middle of his back, each sectioned off by double gold bands. The last section is continuously trimmed until a feat worthy of adding another section is attained.
  
  Where this assassins next task will take him is anyone's guess, but he does not once doubt nor think of it...
  
  
  Sa'Vod Ty'Lek Temple: Assassin Kin Clans
  
  After the initiate has passed the grueling and unforgiving tasks of proving himself worthy of the title of 'Assassin', he must now be assigned to a Kin Clan. There are many Kin Clans, and each specialize to emphasize the Assassin's strongest skill set while setting them against preferred targets best suited to exploit said skill set. While there are many Kin Clans that one Assassin can join, there are the five major Kin Clans and the originals that were established along with the birth of the temple.
  
  
  Flayerkin - As long as Man and Beast has existed they have fought with blade, claw and fang in personal combat. Those Assassins that feel an unusual bond with the blade often find themselves lured to this Kin Clan, having a particular knack with the blade and extensive knowledge of the anatomy of his or her target. The Flayerkin are considered an older and less favorable method of assassination for the exposure and disadvantage it can risk when compromised. Nonetheless, they have proven to provide the higher assassination rate among their brother Kin Clans, albeit as well as suffering the highest casualty rate.
  
  Shadowkin - Those Assassins of the Shadowkin prefer theatricality and illusion over the personal confrontation of the other Kin Clans. Having an uncanny ability to go incognito in even controlled environments, they rely on infiltration, maneuverability, disguise and subtlety to acquire their meticulous assassinations. They achieve this through no small feat of sheer dexterity and the tools of their trade, the higher echelons of their kind using latent magically bounded items to become true shadows and morph into completely new individuals, among other possibilities. The lower echelons have nothing but intuition and a pinch of luck carrying them to success, but are no doubt formidable foes in their own right.
  
  Beastkin - Assassins of this clan favor the stalking, patience and meticulous hunting techniques that is required to engage targets many times their size.
  
  Daemonkin - All but expunged from the records of the temple and kept clandestine save for the most senior leaders of the temple, this clan was eradicated many years ago. In it's short lifespan the disciples that willingly embraced the ideal of inviting those nefarious creatures of the nether realms were an aberration of mortal and daemon in one. Originally the clan sought methods with which to combat these foul creatures until, over time and in secrecy, they began to bind their souls in willing pacts struck with silver tongued daemons. When their ranks began to succumb to the terrible power within them, hideous mutations disfiguring many as the daemon within them accommodated itself as it pleased in its host, their true allegiance was revealed.
  
  Marked as a day of infamy, the Sy'sh broke out in civil war. Their twisted brothers and sisters bloated with the sick powers granted to them by the daemons within them, they slaughtered many rivals of their fellow Kin Clans. Despite taking heavy casualties the combined forces of the other Kin Clans destroyed their twisted kin and subsequently erased all records of their existence. Still, even now, there are those few assassins that discover and embrace the Daemonkin way and soon become rogues looking to indulge in selfish desires.
  
  Etherealkin - Where the mundane methods and tools of the other Kin Clans fail to slay a target of mythical origins, the Etherealkin heed the call. Many disciples of this Kin Clan are unaware of their sensitive gift of the arcane and it may take years before they discover their natural control over it. Most have latent abilities that vary in subtlety and spectrum, in some cases considered warlocks. Their preferred targets are creatures of magical influence, the undead and dead, other race's mages and witches and, in its early years, even demi-gods and goddesses.
  
  
  Age of Technology: Modern Spin
  
  Wind the clock forward many years. As with all things time has a way of inducing permanent changes, in most cases withering in nature. The Sa'Vod Ty'Lek temple and its disciples dissipated into footnotes of later records and, eventually, into nonexistence much like the fabled Gods, Goddesses and creatures of myth were reduced to stories in books. Unbeknownst, however, this was intentional. With what was considered a formal disbandment reduced the core of the disciples into near nothingness. Most turned their backs and pursued a different life. Others abhorred the thought of abandoning ancient traditions and an informal temple erected. Only the most practical of titles survived in a world where mundane became the dominant trait of all things.
  
  In that regard, Ta'Dore'Ich's lineage is still going strong, albeit considered a separate operative to the temple due to the Flayerkin disciples becoming radicals.
  
  The Flayerkin still abide heavily by the old ways and are considered the less conventional of the surviving titles. Like all disciples they're considered to be vigilantes of sorts, not quite abiding by general law or morality and only by their own perceived justices. In this modern age it is easy for a disciple to stray from the righteous path and become corrupt, bloating on selfish desires and abusing the gifts they have been given and acquired through age-old lineage and exclusive membership as disciples to the surviving Sa'Vod Ty'Lek temple. Some titles more than others. The Flayerkin, even at the beginning of their creation, have been considered the closest to damnation in that regard, the up-close and personal dismemberment of another being a mind-altering experience that the resolve of some cannot withstand over time without giving in to debauchery and self-indulging desires awash in bloodletting.
