    The Unlikely (but still true [mostly]) Tale of "Flim-Flam" Glim Timlin Marzipan, etc. etc.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    The youngest of seven children, Glim's earliest memories are of being trapped inside a huge wooden box, surrounded by other gnomes & halflings - all of howm were just as scared as he was. The box was always in motion, as though it were being carried (in his dreams, Glim sometimes feels the motions), and no-one was allowed outside for what felt like weeks.

    Later, Glim learned this wsw the sailing ship upon which his family & several others had travelled to excape Waterdeep. The City of Splendors was being overrun by the evil army of Bane, but a small band of adventurers had arranged an evacuation for Waterdeep's good citizens. These adventurers took the refugees to a hidden port called the Phoenix Cliffs, and here is where the refugees settled, to begin their lives anew.

    The gnomes quickly made themselves useful; from aiding the metalsmiths forge tools, to helping the local mages brew potions. But Clan Marzipan didn't quite fit in: Glim's family had originally worked at one of Waterdeep's theaters as stage crew & "special effects" artists, and this time in Phoenix Cliffs, their skills weren't called for. As it turned out, they would be "saved" again by one of the original adventurers - the half-orc barbarian Groth. When Groth's adventuring party finally returned to the Cliffs to enjoy a well-earned retirement, the half-orc announced his plans to further develop his hobby of puppetry. Many children of the Cliffs were already familiar with Groth's performances, and this news filled them with much delight - as it did for Clan Marzipan, for they had at last found a way to put their skills to use. Reinhart Corallis MacRory Marzipan, Glim's father & clan elder, immediately became Groth's business partner, and together they designed & built The Puppetorium.
