• Biography

  Mr. and Mrs. Diedrick were a couple with good paying jobs and a steady income. They were employed by Arrow Corp, the scientific department. Though, there was a sudden job layoff and Mr. and Mrs. Diedrick found themselves with only enough money to put clothes on their back and barely enough food on the table. They eventually lost their house, and moved to a collection of shacks in the bad corner of town, where Mark Diedrick was born. He grew up with hardly an education to call his own. The easiest way to feed himself would be searching through a dumpster behind a restaurant when no one was looking. He resorted to petty theft most of the time to keep decent food on the table, and most of the time would manage to evade prison.
  
  At the age of eighteen he discovered a secret laboratory complex not too far from his home, ironically enough owned by Arrow Corp. He spent most of his time there, watching the scientists in secret, learning how to read, write, and then on to mechanics and sciences. It wasn’t the same as taking classes, but it was the next best thing. Every other day for three years he’d come and hide in the facility, and learn through observation. His mind was like a sponge, slowly absorbing information. Unluckily though, one day new security cameras were put in, and that was the same day they caught him. They captured him, and brought him to the head of the complex, Dr. Ghast.
  
  Dr. Ghast revealed to Mark that he had known of Mark’s presence all those years. That he didn’t hide himself very well. That the lowly scientists who worked there should feel lucky if they kept their jobs. Ghast then told Mark about a project he was planning to work on, which involved testing radioactive sewage on humans. He had been planning to pluck a random person off the streets in the slums, but now that Mark was here, he had decided to use him instead of just killing him. Mark didn’t know whether or not to think this was lucky. But he would find out soon enough.
  
  Dr. Ghast kept Mark Diedrick locked up in his facility. He was subjected to ingesting the radioactive sewer water that Ghast had spoken about. Of course he kept him fed. As long as he could remain alive from this horrible stuff, he was kept alive. Every day was a struggle to remain that way, though, and Mark sincerely believed he would die there. He wished that Ghast had killed him, instead of forcing him to endure this torture. Soon, his thoughts turned to escaping. Every now and then, he’d attempt it, but in his weakened state, he could never make it very far, and he was always stopped, or recaptured. Then they’d electric shock torture him in an attempt to make him ‘get’ that there was no way out. The scientists were truly surprised that he had remained alive this long. Mark’s body had adapted to the excessive exposure to radiation, and had begun a transformation into something hideous and sinister. His eyes burned and smoked, and his breath became rancid and foul.
  
  After nine months of the treatment, Mark was angered to the brink of exploding. Releasing this pent up anger created a terrifying event that wreaked a path of agony and death that bore through the facility. Mark escaped, and kept to the shadows, in case they ever tried to search him out. Four months later, he was arrested by the Meta-human Investigation Agency (MIA) after attempting to raid a major base. He was, of course, subdued and sent to a high-security prison for criminal meta-humans. There, his powers were stripped using special devices and injections, and a special mask was placed over his mouth. He took on the moniker ‘Doctor Disease’, and began to make connections with other inmates. Soon, he had his own group of loyal thugs and allies, and their plan to break out of prison would begin.
  
  A year later, a stroke of luck befell Dr. Disease and his posse. A super hero, in a heated battle to the capture – or the death – with his arch-nemesis, was hit a little too hard out of the air, and was slammed into a nearby helicopter. He and the helicopter crashed into the prison, boring a big hole in the side. It turned out that the prison break was the villain’s idea all along, and he released many of the prisoners – including Dr. Disease and group – before the police and the MIA were able to get things under control.
  
  Out of prison and with a brand new take on life, Dr. Disease formed ‘The Claw’, a criminal organization mostly – but not fully – compromised of super powered criminals. He found a new mask, donned a costume, and vowed to make every living creature suffer. Well, save for his colleagues. At least, not yet.
