  Read this if nothing else.

  (We do not have to play in Maylenir's universe. It's left vague so a lot can fit into it.) Maylenir isn't really a character confined to one universe but he is confined to fantasy settings as they fit him best.

  
  

  The Hunt

  Many a blissfully ignorant soul has inquired as to the nature of The Dourton Hunt, but only the extraordinarily brave or foolish have ever attempted to participate in such a profession. The hunts are year-round throughout the continent of Doridal and the hunters gather around from across the globe to risk life and limb tracking and slaying great magical beasts, demons, and elementals for their own fortunes. Dangerous work begets plentiful pay and due to the poor circumstance that only one in every five new hunters manages to complete their first contract alive, the talented can amass a fortune for themselves. On the rare occasion that a hunter finds a knack for putting down dangerous beasts that threaten civilization it’s likely that he or she would discover the allure of fame that comes with their fortune and seek more of it. Experienced hunters can be found across Doridal in what some call ‘adventuring parties’ but Veteran Hunters, true masters of their profession would often be found alone or retired.

  The Alchemist

  Maylenir is a rough sort, his grumpy, sarcastic, and cynical disposition is not atypical of High Elves in the slightest, but what is atypical is his disregard for elven traditions and disillusion with the wonders of Elven society. While well-spoken and often considered charismatic the Elf shows many eccentric behaviors, he is prone to isolation, repetitive tasks, and loathes being touched in even a friendly manner without consent. He has a real passion for his alchemical work, and can talk about it on end for hours at a time and eagerly takes on Apprentices, whom during study he regards in a paternal manner. Aside from some of his odd habits, it seems as though Maylenir is a bit of a workaholic and locks himself in his laboratory for days at a time without much concern for external affairs, but truth be told beneath the rough exterior is the truth of the matter that he's just a touch socially inept and actually enjoys affection from interested parties.

  The Alchemy

  Maylenir's alchemy isn't really much different than other wandering Alchemists, it's comprised mainly of brewing potions out of the latent magic within herbs scattered around the world to enhance his own athletic prowess, this is coupled with the use of alchemical bombs of all types and projectile's laced with poison where possible. When not on the hunt, Maylenir is actually a talented healer due to his ceaseless study from youth to adulthood in the Doridal Apothecary Society. He actually has his own laboratory provided by the Doridal Apothecary Society for his general experimentation and study, he is there whenever possible as it seems.

  TL;DR?

  Bitter Alchemist lad that kills big ol' monsters with potions and bombs. The Idea was to make a grumpy father-figure character for story RP.

  
  
  

  What kind of RP can I expect with Maylenir?

  Well you can expect the great majority of his roleplay to be story-driven and if you're after romance then you can expect him to be kind of shitty at expressing himself but that he'll really try his best. I try my best to avoid making him an overly powerful character and veer toward making him just a seasoned monster hunter. I'll make him say things that can be easily interpreted as plain rude or in poor taste to emphasize for the sake of story conflict and to stick him in a awkward position occasionally. I don't like taking him too seriously, there is no fun in that.

  
  
  

  Longterm/Short-term/one-shot. What can we do? How is your post-length?

  Well I'll be honest I really prefer long-term roleplays, especially episodic so that instead of dragging through the boring, nitpicky details of small interactions we can drop into more interesting scenes between the characters.
  
  I'm not afraid of just 1-2 session RPs for short-term, that's totally fine and I'd like to do that.

  Does the roleplay HAVE to include combat and adventure?

  Actually, no. I'm honestly more interested in writing a character and having fun with others than I am with violence and I'd love Maylenir to make friends, enemies, acquaintances, et cetera.
