• Description

  She generally kept herself covered, with black raver-style pants to hide her feet, thick gloves to hide her hands, and an extremely oversized black hoodie to hide everything else. Skin was incredibly pale and had almost a blue tint to it. Three-fingered hands were on the small side and covered in dark blue scales with black claws for fingernails. Digitigrade legs had the same scales from her ankles down her viciously taloned feet. Arms were long and completely covered in a thick layer of translucent feathers up to her shoulders... more like wings, really. The same ice-like feathers coated several other major areas of her body, including numerous longer feathers along her lower back forming a tail, which occasionally could be seen poking out from beneath her sweatshirt.

• Brief History

  Hidden somewhere in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, there is a small nondenominational monastery which has been granting refuge to any and all who need it. It is rumored that, in the past, those who have sought to do harm to this sanctuary have been viciously driven away, maimed, and supposedly even killed by the horrific bird creatures which watch over the temple...
  When the eldest son in the Quinn family began sprouting feathers one day many, many years ago, their neighbors were concerned, and a tiny bit suspicious that not was all as it seemed. When the second child came down with the same affliction several years later, the closed-minded townsfolk took up arms and drove the Quinns out of the tiny midwest town they had called home for as long as anyone could remember. With nowhere to go that would accept them and their curious-looking children, the Quinn's became nomads for a brief period of time, until they caught wind of a hidden sanctuary somewhere in the mountains.
  The temple had served as a safe haven for any and all seeking refuge there ever since it was first established, and the monks welcomed the Quinn family with open arms, despite their fearsome appearances. Having nowhere else they could go, the family chose to live there with the monks, learning their ways and eventually serving as guardians for the monastery as more and more feather-adorned children sprung from their bloodine.
  Numerous generations later, one particularly rebellious child adamantly rejected her family's way of life among the monks, hiding in the mountains like scared little sparrows when they should be soaring fearlessly like proud eagles. Sophia believed she could do better. After much careful deliberation, her parents reluctantly agreed to allow their youngest daughter to leave and get a taste of the world outside their secluded refuge, but only with some rather strict stipulations to this newfound freedom: She would attend the Mutant Academy of Colorado, live at the school, and check in with her family thrice a week by phone. And absolutely no shenanigans: she was there to learn, not to fraternize! (Yeah, right.)
