• Personality

  Daniel is a sadistic and cruel being, caring little for the needs of others unless his own interests are involved, or if there is an opportunity for sating his lust for blood. When he doesn't feel like killing, Daniel will often play the 'innocent' as one of his favorite lures for tricking his victims. Even when his own curse is satisfied, he will string along people simply for his own amusement. His love for the kill can occasionally be misread as some type of heroics as he will step forward into a fight, making anyone he is with to step back and allow him to handle the combat alone, often times by convincing any objectors with force.

• Strengths and Weaknesses

  Strengths: Daniel can not feel pain as he does not inhabit a natural body. Of course this is a double edged sword, as he also lacks pain as a warning to the amount of damage he has sustained. As a supplement to his own survival, Daniel has the ability to persuade others to come to his armor shell, implanting in them the desire to take the suit and wear it. With each successive piece of the armor that a person adorns, the grip he has on their minds becomes more firm. He can also use this persuasion on those with particularly weak minds to perform other deeds, such as cleaning the inside of the armor from previous victims' remains. Daniel's other skills depend on the victim within his armor. If the victim was a human with knowledge of destructive arcane arts, then he will be able to cast destructive spells. If the victim were a well trained swordsman, then he would be able to wield a blade more effectively. The abilities gained are only a fraction the strength of their true owners though. Daniel can also speak telepathically, though he can not read the minds of others.
  
  Weaknesses: To stay able to move, Daniel must lure a living being into his armor where it will be paralyzed. once inside, Daniel absorbs their life energy and gains strength, the ability to move, and also absorbs part of the knowledge and abilities of the creature inside him. Of course, this kills the victim quite quickly, and he loses the abilities shortly afterward. This amount of time is usually directly related to how long the victim survived. If they lasted a week, he keeps the abilities for a couple extra days. If they only lasted an hour, he keeps them for a few extra minutes. As such, it is often in his best interested to keep strong victims alive longer. Daniel also doesn't plan far ahead during a fight, preferring to rush forward, and doesn't have any particular skills that belong only to him.

• Description

  Daniel no longer has a physical body, instead being no more than an invisible specter which can not feel nor be felt, having no mass at all. His ethereal being is bound to a heavy suit of armor, previously worn by an unfortunate warrior. The armor that makes up Daniel's body could also be considered his clothing. The metal is all charcoal Grey, the joints and smaller disconnected pieces of armor, such as the fingers, all connected by red leather. Across his armors waist hangs a red sash which is tied in a knot to his left, the loose ends hanging down to his knee. The helmet has had it's visor destroyed, with a plain white ivory mask affixed to it instead, looking almost like a flat miniature shield. Daniel can change the form of this mask to show emotions, as well as display images either to inform or terrify others. Usually the latter.The entirety of Daniel's armor is decorated with gold trim and carved with detailed etchings that are inlaid with silver and depict many of the constellations. Although not necessarily a marking, his favorite display for the ivory mask is an ogre-like skull with a crescent moon in it's forehead. Before the incident which "killed" and trapped him, Daniel was an average looking man, standing at about 5'4" and weighing in at just over 136lbs. He had stringy blond hair (though one could never tell as it was almost perpetually dirty from work) and well tanned skin. His eyes were bright almost-orange-hazel. Nothing else stood out about him appearance-wise.

• Biography

  In his past, Daniel was (as his surname suggests) the son of a locally renowned blacksmith, and even practiced the trade himself to nearly earn the more respectable surname of Smith (as Smithson may suggest that while the offspring of a hard working man, he did not take up interest in his fathers trade, thus dishonoring him, though this is not completely true). The events which made him veer from the path of the metal worker began around the age of eighteen when the nearby village was razed, much of the population eliminated. While not directly affecting the rather hidden smithy (built out of the way, near a large freshwater spring), it did damage Daniel's fathers' business enough that he decided to pack up the family and move with the remainder of the village folk to the nearest fort town. Along the way, groups of bandits (later discovered to be a single group that was following them) slowly picked off members of the caravan. The near-nightly screams and resulting gruesome displays of carnage, as well as being one of the few men among the group and thus forced to assist in burials of the mutilated ex-companions, slowly drove Daniel mad. During one night raid, Daniel flew from his shelter in a blind rampage, slaughtering both the group of bandits and a number of the scant few surviving villagers. He was banished by the caravan, and disowned by his father. He lived a solitary life afterward, drifting further and further into the abyssal void of madness until one day years later, a group of vagabond adventurers crossed paths with him, one of them, a rather skilled looking warrior in charcoal colored armor, commented on Daniel's shabby appearance. This mockery only incited a random strike from the wandering man, the dagger hidden beneath his cloak easily piecing through the thin slot in the foul-mouths helmet visor, shattering the weak metal and killing the warrior. A rather untalented magic wielder that was only traveling with the group for protection until they reached the next town hastily tried to kill Daniel, instead uttering the wrong incantation and sealing Daniel's spirit inside the newly slain warriors armor. The remainder of the group was carried off by their horses, startled by the sudden flash and bang. On the secluded path, the now haunted armor lay for weeks, on occasion moving a finger, and then a leg, as Daniel eventually gained control of his new "body". The weak movements were short lived as the warriors corpse was consumed by Daniels' ethereal hunger without him even noticing. It wasn't until a merchant craftsman happened by, weeks later, deciding that the still armor had been abandoned and taking it for himself. As soon as he touched it, there was a compulsion to wear the armor, only resulting in him being unable to escape it, and Daniel gaining the man's knowledge of crafting. He created a blank ivory faceplate for the armor, attaching it roughly to the helmet. He soon found he could change the ivory by will to various visages, experimenting with it while staring into a pool of water. As Daniel grew accustomed to his new body, he found that he could think more clearly than when he had been a fleshling wandering the world alone. Though the strange thirst for blood and suffering remained in him, he attributed the return of most of his sanity to the disposal of his mortal body.
