• Personality

  Sydney is a solid mix of her mother and father; unlike her mother, Sydney is slow to anger, but like her father, once enraged, is somewhat akin to a dog with a bone. Like her mother, now that she has had a taste of freedom, Sydney despises being trapped, now having a hard time sitting in one port for too long. Sydney is incredibly loyal and gleeful, while being assertive in the most polite of ways. She isn't, however, above taking what she wants if people don't cooperate with her demands.

• Biography

  Poppa loved momma so much that he took her out of the pirate life. He bought her papers and made her a proper lady under HRM's crown. Momma was wild and stubborn, a true Irish-born, independent and strong. She flagged under the the eyes of maids, behind the confines of estate walls before eventually, she left.
  Poppa and I presume she went back to the sea, for however much she loved us, the sea had been her first love, and the only one as fierce as she. So, it was Poppa and I for a while, before HRM called him back to sea on the HMS Challenger. Poppa made a note to write me a letter in every port, and after each year, I grew and grew, from an unruly teenage to a wanderlust of a young woman. I desired to see what Poppa had seen in the world, to be as brave as he, and as free as momma.
  
  I got my wish on a bright summer day.
  
  The air was sticky and oppressive, making even the most mundane task revolting. Glory, the minister's daughter, and I had been playing cards in the parlor when an unexpected visitor came. As always, like clockwork, our footman went to the door. Glory and I, keen and nosy as ever, listened closely.
  
  "Letter for the miss..." the voice trailed off, and both of us strained to hear it. Glory took my hand - I had been awaiting a marriage proposal from an earl in England - and I held my breath. Minutes went by as Glory and I gleefully pranced, keeping quiet so no one would hear us act out, but our joy was put to a full stop when my footman stepped in the parlor, giving a quick bow. He was as white as his wig, and I glanced briefly to Glory for reassurance. "Go!" she whispered exuberantly.
  
  I stepped towards the footman, and chin held high, I accepted the letter he held out to me.

  It is of greatest regret that we send you this letter. We lead by saying that Admiral Logan Jaice always led his crews with the utmost integrity and discipline. He was a well liked individual to those of us who knew him in England, sharp witted and keen of mind.
  
  The Admiral was last heard of during a scuffle with the Spanish, just off the coast of Trinidad and Tobago. While no bodies, and, indeed, no ship was found, survivors of the battle tell that it was a gruesome battle, both sides suffering heavy losses.   I stopped reading, seeing only the red seal on the bottom of the page. The King's seal. Stunned, I looked between Glory and the footman wordlessly.
  
  I don't remember running, but I do remember stowing away on a brig, finding a bottle of rum, and waking up in the middle of some awful, putrid little port town.
  
  

  I'm a lot more careful about what I wish for now.
