  Physical
  
  From the neck up, Balin has an angular, clean-shaven face. His wavy brown hair is about chin-length, and even on the road, he tries to keep it as meticulously as he can. His brown eyes are on the lighter side, but not classically intense.
  
  Through immense toil, Balin has cultivated a body that, at least in his short years, as dwarfed every strongman he has come across. Whether this is recognized as impressive, revolting, or simply unique depends on the beholder. However, having an air of thoughtfulness and kindness counteracts the worst fears of many onlookers.
  
  A disproportionately-large chest even for his immense size looms over a powerful midsection, which itself is a hefty, clearly-defined layer of abdominal muscle. Sculpted shoulders connect to biceps that rival tree trunks in girth- he wears a belt fit for a large man's waist on each of them. His forearms illustrate similar stature Mammoth calves and thighs pose a similar tree trunk impression, and ​give foundation to his bestial might.
  
  To stay approachable, Balin tries to carry himself in a cordial, gentlemanly manner. Naturally, he still has the same low-energy moments that everyone else does, wherein he reverts to a reserved, but usually-polite wallflower.
  
  His wardrobe typically consists of a sturdy pair of brown boots and a black sarong, seeing little need to cover his torso. In addition to the bicep belts, he wears a third belt around his waist, lining all three with leather pouches for different goods.
  
  Mental
  
  Balin strives to be warm, thoughtful, and sincere. His confidence is closer to that of an urban gentleman than a stout bruiser. Generosity is vital to his interactions- as long as he doesn’t feel used, he will offer it in spades. He loves interacting with people, even if he doesn't particularly trust them.
  
  He has a deep appreciation for liberty, and a desire to be exceptional. At best, this makes him resourceful and long on interesting thoughts to contribute. At worst, it makes him mercurial and willing to act on half-baked ideas. Whether his thoughts fall short or not, though, the effort he puts into bettering himself and the world around him has routinely impressed his peers.
  
  Despite his cordiality, Balin understands the world is not a gentle place, and he is comfortable getting heavy-handed. He considers himself a man who will not be taken advantage of. Although he's far from ruthless, he is no stranger to the darker corners of the world. If he can't correct an adversary with his fists, he's more than happy to fund their enemies or send a hired sword.
