The Light knows

  • "I dreamed again, last night. The battles, the blood, the light. I flew like a bird and killed like a lion. I felt choirs in my chest and sang with them as the heads of thousands of demons dropped on the floor, my sword cutting their necks like they were not here. I looked up to see the Pillars of Creation above our heads, reaching in the skies as God's hand, watching us like guardians. I died that time, but I only felt a warm blanket covering my body before waking up in the real one. It was cold because I forgot to close the window."

    • Nicknames: Yore, when a flaming crown served her as endless wings, when her blows stroke the heart of the sinners, she was named Justice, nicknamed "the golden angel". Now, that name is only a memory or a quip to mock her way to right the wrongs.
    • Race: She was once complete angel, whole fire and metal, sharp as a blade, burning as a candle, bright as a beacon, but her penance took her wings away, making her a mortal. She keeps some of her past strengths and only wait the day she will be able to fly again tutoyant the Sun.
    • Alignment: She was born to serve the good under the name of God and is still unable to stray from that path.
    • Deity: Only our father to all is worth her prayers. The only her words go to is God.
    • Age: She was a timeless wing, unknowing past or future, living in a present of praying and battle, her blade hissing faster than bullets, her faith burning brighter than the Sun. She didn't know past, she should never have understood future, but she fell, sinned, falling from the skies in a weak and mortal corpse, which is today hers, since now about 19 years.

    • Hair: The blood of Saint George flows through her veins, making her hair blond, nearly white.

    • Handedness: As any servant of God, only her right hand should be deft and able.
    • Scars: As her mortal life runs out, the scars of her immortal one slowly appear, jumping out of her dreams to her bare skin. She wears a cut under her left breast, her lips and her right arm.
    • Relationship Status: The only one worthy of her love doesn't need a ring, her only husband is God.
    • Personality: She is obliging, calm and bashful, but naive and too kind, even to the sinners she would have cleanse in her past life.
    • Mannerisms: Too often her hair get in the path of her seeing eyes and she is forced to straighten them.
    • Likes: She likes the warmth of the Sun, the gaze of God and to help her next.
    • Dislikes: She hates demons, heavy sinners and people killing in the name of God.

  • The Mortal

    Angelique is a young being, barely an adult, still naive and innocent, unable to do any harm. She isn't particularly small nor tall, her waist isn't very thin, her cheeks keep the chubbiness of a child but her breasts and hips start to wear the curves of a woman. Her iris are a bright blue, inhabited with purity. Her hair is blonde, almost white, short and straight, a wick getting in the way of her left eye, like it is trying to keep that cursed side hidden.

    She is rarely dressed with something else than light grey trousers and a long cream wool sweater, letting see only the tip of her fingers and the half of her thighs. It hides her curves starting to appear on her body like she was ashamed about them. When her feet aren't bare, she wears short suede boots.

    While she is not shy, Angelique rarely talks louder when one does not hear her, she just politely tries to forget it. She never learned to be quiet and pretty, she learned to be quiet and helpful, so she always offers a helping hand to the ones who need it, it handling a coin or being armed with a sword. She is naturally kind with innocent peoples, penitents and light sinners, the first because they are so rare these days and they deserve so much love, the seconds because they try to be in peace with God, the thirds because it is still possible to get them on the right path. Of course, things can differ if the person isn't kind to her.

    She doesn't know about her past life, she has dreams that tell her tales of battle and glory, but she doesn't understand them very well. She is aware of her powers, though, and knows a lot of things Justice knew. She speaks Latin and Hebrew fluently, she knows holly chants in those two languages, and of course she knows how to use her blade when she gets it out of its sheath.

    Angelique's faith is endless and incorruptible, her love for God knows no equal. But she isn't religious, she hates the Pope and the way of the Church. While her faith looks like Christianity, she doesn't believe Jesus to be God's son and prefer to say that every living creature is. To her, believing in other gods isn't blasphemy because God is an all-being and wears countless faces.
  • "And as my sword sliced their putrid and depraved flesh, I sang an hymn for our all powerful Lord and rose my banner all the way up to the sky to bring light on the darkness of these sinners and burn their worthless bodies to ashes."

  • The Immortal

    Justice was a flaming angel, a pure embodiment of hate toward sinners and demons. While no one expected nothing from her, she took the burden of being the flag bearer of the army of God after the fall of Lucifer, she took one step from the rest of the remaining units to sing louder, to lead the onslaught and to carry His voice.
    And from a flaming soldier, for her zeal and her love of God, she became a glaring light.

    There was nothing to look at, only a dazzling glow in the vague shape of a human, held in the sky by wings. She held the same sword she had as a soldier in her left hand, low and burning in hatred for her countless ennemies, and the banner she raised during the battle she shined in her right hand, high and burning in love for the only God.

    But as she fought again and again, her hatred for sinners became stronger and stronger, until she started to forget any form of forgiveness and started to fight like a warrior of the Malignant. So, she fell to a mortal body.

    Justice herself is now dead and forgotten to the mortal realm, but her halo still glows on her human flesh. When this weak form faces a demon or a lost soul, Justice gets her body back, bringing Angelique in the sky with her blessing wings and burns down any sinner.

  • The Gifts

    The blood

    Justice was able to see through one's soul and perceive their sins and Ange kept that ability. To her, sinners will always be surrounded by more or less red, innocents will shine blue and demons will be complete darkness. Penitents like her emit no light nor shadows. To know the sins, a touch is enough, and upon looking into one's eyes, she will see glimpses of these faults. But she lost the ability to tell the difference between a killer and a soldier, she will only see death.

    The blade

    A blade forged by the choirs of the heavens, a creation of pure faith. The sheath is simple yet wrapped in ribbons telling songs long forgotten in a tongue only spoken by a few. Angelique naturally knows everyone of them.
    Only an innocent can pull the sword out of its scabbard like any weapon. A penitent can only unsheathe it if he is facing a demon or in a holy place. Even with all the magic in the world, a sinner or a demon couldn't be able to use it, and the later would severely burn itself if he tried.
    Once the blade is freed, anyone can read the inscription on the core of the blade, written in hebrew : "Mi cha el", and hear holly songs able to make any evil creature collapse in pain. The blade can't cut through pure peoples, it passes them like they weren't even there. It cuts penitents like any normal sword, but cripples sinners and demons like a white hot knife through butter. Only curses and Malignant's material can damage it.
    Being bonded to Angelique, the blade, sealed in its scabbard, will always appear in her left hand if she faces a demon or needs it desperately, but, being a penitent, she won't always be able to use the edge and will often only rely on the songs to strengthen her faith if she doubts.

    The wings

    If she is in a bright enough place, under the Sun, wings could start to strangely appear, transparent and almost invisible, but here anyway. With enough faith and/or with the desperate need of it, they will materialize, white, pure, gently gleaming and softly warm to the touch. When truly there, they are able to hold Ange in the sky, a crown made of sunlight appearing behind her head.
    But with those wings, Justice can slowly reemerge, taking back her body to hurl her hate to the enemies of God as a deadly light, bright enough to burn even the bones.
    When her faith is strong enough, her eyes let their blue behind to turn to a gently silver, cradling like the Moon, and when facing a demon, they turn to a fierce gold, flaming like the Sun.
