  In his early life, Axelle was a very sought after alchemist and healer. Said to be able to cure most if not all illnesses with his knowledge and skills in his profession. Even early in his career he was able to purge those with life threatening diseases within minutes of their arrival.

• Fall of the alchemist

  As his career had continued, Axelle had felt a strange shift in his own body. This was very uncommon for Axelle, he was a very healthy man, never even contracting a disease he had treated. As time passed the shift became a more immediate problem, causing Axelle to lose weight at an unusual rate. His vision had started to deteriorate, his once silver hair had greyed and become rough to the touch. He was falling apart everyday, but despite this he continued to work and help anyone who seeked him out.

• The strange visitor

  As time passed , Axelle eventually gave up on curing himself and focused more on the people that came to him. Though he was greatly pained by his illness, he was still very efficient with his work. On a cold day a group of residents from a nearby village had brought Axelle a woman that was soaking wet and very pale. The villagers proceeded to tell Axelle that they had found her near the river unconcious and cold to the touch. Axelle was calm as usual immediately moving her to a warm bed and checking her pulse to make sure he heart hadnt stopped from the intense cold. Axelle was prepared to start the womans heart again but something stopped him, the womans heart was beating normally, not only that but the woman was giving off small pulses of what seemed lile electricity. Axelle was deeply confused for anyone that he had treated for hypothermia or any cold related illness normally had a slower heart rate, despite this he continued to watch over the woman.

• Her name was Rana

  Several days had passed and Axelle constantly monitored the woman, all the while he coudnt help but stare in awe at how entrancing the woman was. As professional and focused as Axelle was, he repeatedly found himself gazing at her and how beautiful she was. A week had passed and she had finally awoken, Axelle was in the other room at the time and hadnt noticed. The woman had taken a light breath and opened her soft ruby red eyes, she gracefully stood up and observed her surroundings. Axelle still in the other room was busy reading and pondering on his studies when he suddenly felt a presence overcome him. The feeling was almost like that of a warm breeze or the feeling of a lovers embrace, at its core the feeling made Axelle feel unnaturally calm. Upon feeling this,Axelle turned around and met with the source of the feeling. Axelles eyes met with the gorgeous woman a few feet from him and he was immediately enthralled by her, now that the woman was awake Axelle had truly seen her majesty. Her crimson glimmering eyes, her sapphire flowing hair, her flawless fair skin and her honey voice that with the softness and innocence of a child asked"who are you?". Axelle now having gained a bit of focused responded in his normal tone"Axelle, Axelle Kurono", as the words left Axelles mouth the woman formed a small smile as her crimdons eyes lit up with joy" My name is Rana and ive been looking for you for some time".

• Her gift

  After Axelle and Rana's exchange, Axelle asked her if she would like to sit down for tea. Rana gracefully replied with the same childlike voice as before" I would love to". Axelle then began brewing up a pot of tea after showing Rana to a seat at his table, Rana then spoke again stating" so you really are Axelle the alchemist?, I was told by many people that you were the best at what you do". Axelle now feeling a small bit of pride said" You are correct miss, although I wouldnt call myself the best I do make sure anyone that visits me is in full health", with the tea now finished brewing Axelle sat down across from Rana and poured her a cup. Rana with an almost curious look on her face said" when I was told about you, everyone always mentioned a handsome man with silver hair and an almost flawless complection", Axelle sighed" they were right at one time". Rana now visibly confused" but youre hair, its grey and rough, and you look like youve aged at a rapid pace, surely I havent been looking for you that long", Axelle now feeling the pain of the illness he had briefly forgotten about said through a emotionally and physically painful voice said" I was once the man you were looking for, saving lives and keeping anyone who sought me out safe" now with a tear rolling down his cheek" I could save anyone..... except for me". Axelle leaned on the table trembling, feeling the full weight of what had happend to him and gritting his teeth"Im sorry im not the shining god you were told about, but im just a man....." Rana looked at Axelle with sorrow and pity. While Axelle was leaning on the table unaware of Rana still looking at him, she stood up and without a sound walked around the table to his back and placed a hand on his shoulder" I never expected a god, but I also never expected such a man could exist in this world... but ive found him... and though he is not what the rumors have described, he is still lives up to what they said he can do, Axelle lifted his head and said" but for how much longer can I ke-" before he could finish Rana leaned in close to his ear and said" as long as you want" Axelle lightly alarmed started to turn and look at Rana but before he could, she had sunk her fangs into his neck. It appeard as a kiss but Axelle felt the sharp pain shoot through him and with only a minor struggle he gave up, realising his withered body lacked the strength. Axelle the closed his eyes and thought to himself" is this how I die? Whisked away like fog on a lake", the thought of this pained him but oddly he had a feeling of relief, again be thought" No more pain, no more suffering and no more failure...." just as he had submitted himself to Rana fully, a familar feeling fell over him. Rana had let out a small moan as she was still latched onto Axelle, she gripped him tightly and didnt let go. Axelle now felt this feeling stronger than before and he knew what it was, it was the same feeling as when Rana had awoken, he opened his eyes and to his surprise his vision had drastically increased, better than even when in his prime. Axelle felt the feeling flow through his body and trickle aross his skin, it was intense as he felt the strength returning to his muscles and the pain fading away. Rana still attached gained a small smile as she could tell how he was feeling, Axelle with the feeling now fully engulfing all of his senses drew a deep breath let it out, Rana had released him and returned to a standing postion. Axelle stood up and looked at his hands, he was suprised to see the shriveled hands now healthy and firm, the pain he had suffered for so long was now gone. Every muscle in his body was easy and at rest, his posture had been returned as he was able to stand up right without pain. He turned around to face Rana and was immediatly stunned at how beautiful she truly was, since his visioned had sharpened to such a level he could now fully appreciate her beauty. He now had seen the fangs that she had possessed and the radiance of her eyes. He could smell the scent she had put off, like fresh jasmine, the scent she put off only added to the feeling he had felt and without thinking he hugged her. He squeezed her tightly and felt her silky skin against his, after realising what was going on he quickly let go and kneeled to apologize" Im sorry miss, im not sure what came over me", Rana smiled and said " there is no need to apologize, it quick nice to be hugged by such a handsome man". Axelle stood up and had a confused look on his face for he had grown used to his afficted appearance, he quickly rushed over to the mirror at his alchemist station and looked at himself. His once grey and rough hair had returned to its silvery color, his skin had smoothend and appeared almost flawless and his eyes.... his eyes had turned a deep ruby red just like Rana's. He was speechless still looking in the mirror at his restored appearence, Rana had approached him and said" I gues they were right about you, very handsome and healthy", Axelle had smiled revealing his new fangs as he turned to Rana" how did you? What did you?" Rana then replied with a smile and a light laugh" If anyone deserved it, it would be you. I made you like me, a shinso, and as one you are free to continue helping anyone as long as you wish."

• The new shinso

  A day after Axelles transformation, he was still adjusting to his new life. Rana decided to stay for she hadnt had anyone else like her and she took a particular liking to Axelle. She taught him the history of their race, how far they had come and how thin they were stretched. Axelle enjoyed every minute of it, hearing her stories and knowledge had filled him with joy he hadnt felt in a long time. She explained to him why she was unaffected by the cold, but why she was unconcious saying" water is just one of the things that i or rather we are extremely vulnerable to, but a way to counter this is with a special blend of herbs that is to be put in the water before hand." Axelle continued listening to Rana go on about the shinso race and how some are stronger than others. Rana exclaimed that " Some shinso are able to withstand water for entended periods of time due to training or just determination, but its generally through some conflict that this happens and it is still painful if not more taxing to them." They both had talked for the entire day well into the night before eventually both going to bed.

• Years later

  A decade had passed and Axelle along with Rana continued to help anyone that came to them. Axelle became even more skilled in his alchemy and due to his new ablities and immortality they became unrivaled. As time passed Axelle adjusted to being a shinso and even gained a tolerance to water, due to him further reaching out to help people by defending the nearby villages. In many cases it had rained during a conflict but he kept going despite the immense pain and scope of the enemies he fought. Even so, Rana was always there to watch over him and take care of him after every fight, just as he had taken care of her all of those years ago.

• The Curse of the Shinso

  While Rana had gifted Axelle with his new life as a Shinso, it was not without its own catch. While the blood of a Shinso grants many gifts such as biological immortality, enhanced strength, speed and durability, each generation of Shinso is also burdened with a curse. Axelle being bitten Rana was naturally linked with her curse, that curse being exactly that, a link. Rana's curse known as Blood Bound is a curse that links her to her first bite, while this does benefit both caught in the curse trippling their abilities, it also links pain felt by Axelle to Rana herself.
  Axelle's curse known to the Shinso as Sadistic Thirst affects Axelle in 3 ways. The first being that Axelle's vampiric strength and speed are minorly increased if he has gone more than a few days without feeding. The second is when he uses the enhanced speed and strength due to the curses affects, he must feed afterwards lest he fall to the third effect of the curse . The third and most dangerous part of his curse is where it gets its name, upon passing a 5 day mark without feeding and or not immediately feeding after exerting himself, Axelle loses all sense of himself and will enter a berserker like state drastically increasing his strength and speed but causing him to brutally attack anything in his way until he has fed or been incapacitated.
