By day, the swamps are dangerous. Navigation is difficult, and dangers
lurk beneath the surface of the water. Moss and trees hide toxic fauna
and dangerous beasts. Venomous serpents, poisonous biting insects.
Undead things killed by one mystery and raised by another are another
danger. The channels that one might take by boat are treacherous and
winding. The narrow paths that give one a trail over land are twisting
and chaotic. The charms that keep the passes safe are continually
maintained, for they are prone to damage and failure. Entire swaths of
land that might be safe one day, could just as easily be deadly the next.
Paths fail. Boardwalks sink into the mire, lanterns stolen by creatures
or the swamp itself. The passes deep enough for a boat might close,
clogged with flotsam or vegetation... or other means, of magic or cunning.
When daylight fades, one does not travel the paths. There is no guarantee.
No safe haven on or near the water. Creatures haunt the darkness.
Toxic fumes rise from flowers, and deadly spores rise into the night from
patches of noxious fungus colonies.
The swamp is a living thing, choking full of greenery and creatures.
From the darkest depths to the tops of the tallest trees, it is an ecosystem
made of balance. Magic thrives, and the creatures that live within the
swamp thrive with it. Outsiders are a thing of weight. They take away that
balance, and the life of the swamp brings destruction and death to counter the scales..

Kirrin is known as the Woods Witch. Lady of the Swamp.
The Blind Seer. From deep within the deadly verdant realm
that is her home, she plies her trade. Bio-Alchemy. Some
mages are given the gifts to make things grow. Kir'Rin' Tal
can do this with merely her presence. She has an uncanny
ability to know what grows well, and exactly where to put it.
Coaxing deadly mushrooms from the darkest shadows, to
tending groves of wondrous fruit trees in impossible glades,
Kirrin works nearly ceaselessly with her projects. Research
and growth. Mixing plant life and lesser life forms like fish
or insects with cunning use of alchemy and magic, she creates
hybrids. Her specialty is in wondrous healing items. Edible
plants, roots, fruit or seeds that can prolong life, ease pain,
and even close wounds.
Sought by those in dire need, she can mend broken minds
and shattered limbs alike. She is often seen wearing simple,
layered clothing, ragged patchwork skirts and shifts of heavy
fabric, with a leather apron laden with pockets. A black case
of polished witchwood is caried beside a leather satchel, and
these contain a number of finer tools, crafted of iron and silver.
At any given time, she generally has a set of heavy leather gloves
made to cover her clawed fingers, and at least one pocket laden
with glassware of varying sizes and purposes. She almost always
wears a blindfold of thick, dark cloth, hiding her luminescent
eyes from view. This doesn't seem to hinder her ability to travel,
however..
