Biography
Set in the Saiyuki Universe.
500+ years ago, Ai once lived in Shangri La/Heaven as a Goddess of Winter by the name of Aoi. In particular, she made it snow, a job that the God of Winter took on after her death. She was a worker under the God of Winter. Being very young, the Goddess of Luck took her in and treats her like a daughter. Then she had white/silvery hair and bright blue eyes. She was friends with Nataku, a War Prince, before Goku was brought to Shangri La. When Goku arrived and Nataku became friends with him, she didn't like him at first, thinking he was taking her only friend away. She would do things to try getting Goku into trouble until one day it had backfired and she went to pout in a field. Goku had brought her a flower in hopes of cheering her up, telling her that he wanted to be her friend as well as Nataku's. From then on the three of them were inseparable until Nataku's Rebellion and Konzen's Revolt.
During Goku's time caged away on Mt. Gogyou, Aoi tried to visit him every winter when she would descend to earth to do her work of making it snow. Unfortunately, she could not appear to him in a physical form while she worked, so whenever she would enter the cage with him or try to touch him, she would make it colder, but did not mean to make his suffering worse than it already was. She could not talk to him as he would not hear her. During the warmer months, she could not go down to earth as she would start to melt, something she found out the hard way.
In Shangri La she was often found in Nataku's throne room, despite his being comatose. There was one winter in particular, when she finally realized that She had been causing Goku far more suffering than was needed for his crime, and in realizing she had been doing this for several hundreds of years. This drove her to her final breaking point between not being able to speak with her one friend and causing suffering to the other, she committed suicide by staying well past the start of spring. She melted there in front of Goku's cave prison after whispering in Nataku's ear her intent and that she would find and bring their friend back to Shangri La.
She was reborn later on as a demon child to a wealthy demon family. Her father owned several orchards and her mother had been raised to be a proper house wife. In this life, she was named Ai, and had black hair with light blue eyes. However, things were not that great for her. Her father hardly dealt with her, thinking that she was the product of her mother being adulterous as Ai was born with an allergy to direct sunlight and when she was old enough to develop them, icy powers. Due to her allergy, the family converted a portion of the house's library into a room for her with one of the bookshelves being the door to the room. There was a small eye hole in the shelf over one of the books that she could look out of to see if the sun was day or night. Due to her hiding away, many people in the nearby village did not know about her existence. So when the humans, finally upset enough about a Demon having more wealth then they, trekked to their house and killed her parents, she was relatively safe other than that night when she came out of her room (she sleeps during most of the day) and found the still smoldering mound of ashes and bones that had been her parents. She also found that most of the valuables in the house had been taken.
After her parents' death, she continued to live in the house, keeping up with the routine her mother kept her on with a few alterations to live. She washed and cleaned at night as well as collected what fruit she could from the orchards that over the years would eventually start to run wild. she would take the extra apples and peaches to a neighbor a few miles away and leave them in exchange for taking a chicken every other week, eggs weekly and milk from their cow that she would take in the dead of night.
Her life was lived this way for several years, the house becoming dilapidated on the outside and with her doing things at night, people in the village started saying the house and farm was haunted by the ghosts of the demons that were killed there. It kept humans from going to the house, but not demons who the village inn would deny rooms to. She would not come out when the unexpected guests would stay the night in her home until they were passed out. She would then sneak out to do her chores as silently as she could, washing any dishes and towels they would use as well as any discarded clothing. She would pull them off the line before sunrise, folding them and setting them near the "visitors" before retreating back to her room behind the book cases. Her doing this only helped to spread the rumors of the house being haunted. It would be here, that perhaps she would meet the Sanzo group.
As a demon, she must have a power limiter to keep her looking human which is a silver anklet. In demon form, her ears point, but don't grow out too much, her clothes and hair have a hint of airy-ness to them and a white snowflake appears on her forehead where in the center of it is very small rendering of the symbol for loyalty. in Demon form, the air around her becomes very cold and the ground under her turns frosty.
