• Biography

  Aleksandr Sopot was born an only child to a prostitute in the American megacity of New York. A first-generation immigrant, his mother was a Russian-Polish woman who’d immigrated from Moscow in search of a way to escape poverty, only to find that there was no wealth to be found in the overpopulated and undersupplied Megacities of America either. Resorting to prostitution she eventually became pregnant with Sopot, raising him to the best of her ability despite their abject poverty.
  
  Having gone to an understaffed and underfunded inner city school Sopot didn’t receive the best education, but still excelled in his subpar classes due to urging from his mother, who didn’t want to see her son remain in poverty for the rest of his life like herself. Unfortunately, after the death of his mother due to disease in his second year of high school his grades dropped. Neither was he ever placed in foster care or an orphanage, child services having so many cases that his simply never reached anyone’s desk.
  
  Sopot spent a year scraping by, often working for gangs and other criminal groups as a courier or occasional even muscle. Eventually becoming an associate of the Russian Mafia, though that only lasted for several months when he was left for dead at the scene of a shootout between his group and a local Triad gang. When the police arrive he was subsequently arrested for illegal possession of firearms and gang affiliation as they could not prove any other crimes. When the time came for trial he was given two options, join the military or go to prison for upwards to twenty years. He chose the former.
  
  Sopot was shipped off to Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia to receive Basic Combat Training. Eventually graduating from that and taking an Advanced Individual Training course to specialize in infantry combat. From there he was shipped out to take part mostly in peacekeeping and anti-terror operations in the Middle East, Asia, and Western-Europe. With shorter stints in South and Central America and Africa.
  
  With every tour upon returning home, he took advantage of the government subsidized cybernetic programs. Medicine and cybernetics meant that if one had the money a human being could live upwards into the hundreds of years and while only the rich could afford the most luxurious cybernetics the military offered hundreds of combat oriented enhancements in exchange for a lengthy extended service time. Not having anything better to do with his life or time Sopot had steeped himself in his work, taking every chance at subsidized cybernetics and extra AIT courses until he was both literally and figuratively more machine than man.
  
  This earned him entrance in a new special forces division known both formally and jokingly as Deus Ex Machina, referring to the abilities that these cybernetically enhanced humans possessed. Making them by your, baseline human standards, literal gods from a machine. In his new post, he saw himself working in operations all over the world from China to even the continental the United States. Unfortunately after a scandal regarding one of his operations accidentally killing American citizens in a counter-terrorist operation in Damascus, Syria he was dishonorably discharged to save face, turning to the life of a mercenary to support himself.
