Raja is 25 years old, and despite his young age, he's already seen some shit. He comes from a broken home. His mother was a drunk and his father was a mean and abusive bastard. Violence was a part of his everyday life, and it has shaped the way Raja views the world around him. He's been beaten by his father, neglected by his mother, and abused by his uncles and father. So has his siblings. But the local authorities did nothing, they stood by and watched as history repeated itself, and not one but five young children got ruined by the same family. Raja left by the time he was 18, never once looking back. He moved far away to a quiet little town, where he found work as a mechanic for the local harbourmaster. He's started over, but the demon of his past still haunts him and the emotional scars run deep.
He suffers from reactive attachment disorder, which means he has troubles establishing and maintaining healthy friendships and relationships. He hides behind fake smiles and a charming front, keeping people at a distance to protect himself. When he tries establishing relationships they are often characterized by a high conflict level and lots of trust issues. Raja gets angry easily, especially when people come too close. It doesn't take much for him to lose his trust in somebody, and he easily feels like he's the victim. Logically Raja knows how to respond empathic, but he has trouble really feeling it, which means he had trouble being genuine in a relationship.
Raja is also a trans male. He identifies as a male, and refers to himself as a he, while he was originally born as a girl. He is currently in hormone therapy and has had his breast removed. To him, the feeling of being in the wrong body had always been there, even as a child, but it wasn't until his early twenties, he discovered what it all meant and what could be done. He had his name changed and his breast removed before he started working at the harbor, which means, no one there has ever thought of him as anything but male, which suits Raja just fine.
