The naga are a species of serpentine creatures. They seem to posses a torso, head, and arms similar to a human's in appearance. But beneath their "waist" where legs might logically reside is instead the body/tail of a snake. Most aspects of naga physiology are closely homologous to corresponding aspects of animal physiology. The body of a naga consists of two limbs with five digits, the tail, the torso, the neck, and the head. The head having two forward facing eyes, two ears, "hair", a nose and a mouth. Their teeth are omnivorous in shape like a humans with longer canines and they have a tongue that can reach upwards to a foot outside of the mouth. They have many common body systems such as nervous, cardiovascular, digestive, immune, reproductive, respiratory, and urinary systems. Naga, like their serpentine cousins, have a long tail that they use for locomotion. They are cold blooded and are able to detach their jaw.

Naga are capable are adjusting their height by changing the amount of their tail that they lift up. On average they are comfortable at a height anywhere from a foot more or a foot less than a third of their total length. With a maximum height of about half their total length. The average length for an adult male is about 20 feet, with an average resting height of about 6 feet to 8 feet, while the average length for adult females is about 18 feet with a resting height of 5 feet to 7 feet. Shrinkage of stature may begin in middle age in some individuals, but tends to be typical in the extremely aged. The average mass of an adult is 750 lbs for females and 850 lbs for males. Like many other conditions, body weight and body type is influenced by both genetic susceptibility and environment and varies greatly among individuals.

Although Naga appear to have hair they are actually a form of primitive feathers that developed from scales. Further evidence of this is found in a form of quills or horns some members can develop that also match primitive feathers. As well as the fully formed feathers that the naga royal family sport.

Similar to humans the Naga's nervous system consist of the brain, spine, and a network of nerve endings. Unlike in humans the Spine seems to take a larger role in control over a naga's tail. While the brain still has primary control, the spine is capable of preforming secondary actions. This can be seen in certain situation. For example, if the naga wraps it's tail around an object and that object is moved, the tail may adjust to the movement without the naga's conscious input. Furthermore it may even tighten if the captured object moves too much. Making escape from a naga's coils all the harder. The most advised action if bound by a naga is instead to relax, waiting for the tail to inadvertently do the same, before attempting to escape. Though this will not work if the naga is actively gripping.

A naga has two hearts, connected to the body, and to each other, through a series of blood vessels. The anterior heart is located to the right side of the chest, similarly positioned to the heart of a human. It's primary function is to pump blood and nutrients throughout the upper torso. The Posterior heart is larger and is located a foot below the genital slit on the ventral side of the tail. It's primary function is to pump blood and nutrients throughout the tail of the naga. The posterior heart is powerful enough to pump blood throughout the body, both the torso and the tail. Making injuries to the anterior heart capable of being survivable if medical treatment can stop blood flow quickly enough. However, naga with only a posterior heart are less active and at risk of heart attacks. Blood flow to various parts of the tail can be closed off in the case of trauma. Making the loss of parts of the tail survivable. However losing some parts of the tail also cuts of parts of the digestion track. Making the loss of larger parts of tail lead to digestion issues and often times requiring surgery. Unfortunatly with the naga's current level of medical knowledge such surgeries have a high risk of being fatal through complications or infection.

The Naga have a total of two stomachs and a system of larger and smaller intestines that can easily be ten times the total length of the naga. The Anterior stomach actually contain only mild digestive juices and act as more of a holding pouch. Originally evolved to carry young it also works to detect and kill off parasites, reject inorganic material, and disinfect any prey before it enters the posterior stomach. The naga has limited control over this stomach and can regurgitate from it at will. The posterior stomach is larger and begins the bulk of the digestive process with stronger digestive acids, it is also here any non-digestible materials are caught to be regurgitated later. The larger and smaller intestines span a large portion of the naga's tail, growing progressively smaller and ending near the end of the naga's tail. The naga also have three connected lungs working together to gather enough air to fuel the entirety of their body. The first and primary lung is located in the chest, similarly placed where the lungs on a human are. The secondary lungs are lower located in the tail

Both male and female naga have genital slits. Outwardly it is impossible to separate male from female while unaroused through their genital slit alone. Instead the presence of breasts on females as well as differences in voice and bone structure are the best ways of determining physical sex at a glance. Although there are some cases of naga being born with the outward appearance of one gender but the genitalia of the other. However these cases are few and far between. The slits themselves are nearly invisible at a glance. However closer examination can reveal a small gap between two vertical rows of scales, marking the entrance to the slit. For both genders the slit is self lubricating and self disinfecting.

Male naga genitalia consists of 3 parts. The slit, the peni, and the testes. Unlike most species the naga actually have two fully functioning members stacked vertically on top of one another. On average they are about 8 inches in length and three inches at the thickest tapering down to about half an inch at the tip. Both members ejaculate at the same time. The testes are stored internally further down the body and are much larger that that on the human, generally doubling the amount of output.

Female naga genitalia consist of four parts. The slit, the vaginal cannals, the wombs, and the ovaries. When aroused the slit generally spreads open and puffs up, producing extra lubricant. A ways past the entrance the cannal splits into two to lead to two wombs that sit side by side with one another. Each one with their own pair of ovaries.

Female naga only ovulate once every five years once mated. Hormonal changes generally send their partner into a mating frenzy even if their partner is a different race. It can even trigger other females of their race to gestate. Interestingly the phenomenon can also be seen in same sex couples, though often later then the rest. Each race of naga gestates on different years. Once pregnant the development of fetal naga is surprisingly similar to sharks. Three to four eggs are fertilized in each womb, then, over the duration of the pregnancy the eggs hatch and the unborn naga immediately compete. Fighting each other in the womb until only one fetus remains in each womb. The mother than gives birth to two hatchlings and breastfeeds as they finish development. While this evolution can be viewed as morally worrisome by human standards, it has caused birth defects to be nearly non-existent as any underdeveloped or handicapped embryos rarely survive past the second trimester. As unfortunate as it is the practice is evolutionary sound.



There are five races of naga, each with their own evolutionary adaptations but all following the same basic body plan and appearance. The four races are the Quetzalcoatl, the Constrictor, the Serpent, the Cobra, and the Viper. While the Naga have their own name for each race these are the most direct english translation based on the adaptations each race has.

Quetzalcoatl

The Quetzalcoatl race is a very limited race of naga. Limited to only the Royal family. Their racial traits are very recessive, causing only one or two "true" Quetzalcoatl being born per generation. They are the only race of naga that naturally grow fully formed feathers. The location and frequency of the feathers can very greatly, but they are most commonly located in their hair, along their spine, at their elbows, at their waist, and at the end of their tail. A Quetzalcoatl's scales and feathers are also known to come on various patterns of red, yellow, green, and occasionally blue.
