Biography
Draconic creatures are first described in the mythologies of the ancient Near East and appear in ancient Mesopotamian art and literature. Stories about storm-gods slaying giant serpents occur throughout nearly all Indo-European and Near Eastern mythologies.
The popular western image of a dragon as winged, four-legged, and capable of breathing fire is an invention of the High Middle Ages, based on a conflation of earlier dragons from different traditions, and of inaccurate scribal drawings of snakes. In western cultures, dragons are portrayed as monsters to be tamed or overcome, usually by saints or culture heroes, as in the popular legend of Saint George and the Dragon. They are often said to have ravenous appetites and to live in caves, where they hoard treasure.
Alban was not born in the traditional sense. He was created between a male and a female and yet through fire as well. He never knew his mother and it wasn't until he took the form of his dragon at the age of twelve that he knew why he didn't have a mother. Alban refused to follow the creed of his past and thus his father and he came to blows which led to Alban being the victor and his life became quite a lonely one.
Currently, Alban lives in a shrouded island far from humanity. The dragon inside him a great beast he must contend with on a daily basis. Each day the great beast draws closer to the surface and Alban loses a little more control...
