Daphne Rhodes

Each satyr follows one almost all-consuming passion in their lives. Something they are inexorably drawn to and devote themselves to unlike anything else. For some it’s the act of lovemaking, the delicate art of romance, brewery, debate. For Daphne, it is music. It has always been music, all the way back to the first life she ever led somewhere in the hills of ancient Greece. One passion. One goal. One purpose. To reclaim the title that the sidhe unjustly stole from her people: the masters of music. Each new life a new opportunity to hone her craft, to learn from the mistakes and shortcomings of the past to achieve absolute mastery. The consequence of such a one-track mind however, is that while Daphne might remember each note ever sung, every octave reached with exacting clarity, all the rest seems to melt away. Faces she will never recognize, places once well-known haunts now foreign, memories she will never reclaim. All in the pursuit of such a lofty goal.

Despite this dogged determination, it is quite easy to view Daphne as nothing more than a carefree and talented starlet. Daphne Rhodes is carving herself a path to recognition that even a sidhe cannot help but acknowledge. It is not fame she desires though, but a competition the likes of Apollo and Marsyas themselves. What she wants is a battle of the muses and to become its victor. And in the process she revels in that which makes her a satyr, whether it be her lust for life, her playful flirtations, or her love of nature. She lives authentically and unapologetically, much to the chagrin of many sidhe who may admire her talent and skill but would sooner cut out their own tongue than admit it. And she knows it. Perhaps the sunshine satyr should practice a bit more humility, a little more caution. But such is not the way of a satyr, no matter how wise. You live life to the fullest, consequences and all. So long as you make it all worth it.
