  • HISTORY: 'Who wants another round?!'
    Sab is the eldest child of an oft-warring family, growing up being the middleman to his parents' fights. So, really, can anyone blame him for not wanting to talk about it? He was often caught in the middle and grew to hate raised voices and arguments. Eventually, instead of subjecting himself to it, he'd slip outside into the woods near their house, climb a tree, and birdwatch. The older he got, the more he began to supplement it with weed and alcohol - although never around his sister.

    Having been teetering on the edge of a breakdown for a while now, Sab got out while he could. He went to university at eighteen, finding a wild joy in being able to do whatever he wanted, which led to overindulgence and recklessness pretty quickly. When he graduated, he got jobs doing various contracting work and ignored the mounting pile of bottles in the trash every week. He's still doing this now, though he also takes bartending gigs for a change of pace.

    He staunchly ignores the phone calls of his father ("shitty and judgemental") and his mother ("an ice queen") - though his little sister, Charlie, still manages to stay in contact, albeit very sporadically as Sab honestly doesn't want her knowing too much about his life now. When he left, it meant leaving her - then a young teenager who idolised him - to navigate their parents' relationship and take his place as peacemaker. This didn't come without guilt, and he promised to get her out as soon as he could. Of course, that was before the drinking began. So, Sab wants to forget his home life as much as possible - even going so far as to not go by his birth name.

    He's not the most stable person, and has a surprisingly sensitive nature beneath his affable bravado. He has a bad habit of shirking his responsibilities in favour of music, escapism, drugs and alcohol. Jack in particular is worried, and very much not a fan of Sab's worse tendancies, so he'll usually try to keep him from going too far.

  • Trivia

    • Usually drunk or high, which seems to keep him cheerful. When he's sober, he's a lot more reserved. Though he's mostly functional, the strain is beginning to show; he's developed a nasty smoker's cough and can't go a few hours without drinking before getting tremors. Jack is constantly having kittens about this and begging Sab to look into rehab. His 'sobriety' ranges from "functional, coherent, entirely cognizant" to "THERE ARE BUGS UNDER MY SKIN".
    • Typically has one night stands, but falls in love easily and way too hard if someone shows interest. A soft romantic at heart.
    • Goes to the gym on a regular basis but also binge eats so he's like, half muscle, half fat.
    • His accent tends to get thicker when he's angry, tired or wasted. Considering he's always at least marginally wasted and tired, nobody can really understand what he's saying until they get to know his dialect.
    • He DEFINITELY doesn't deal drugs. That burner phone is just a coincidence.
    • Happiest when out in nature, or jamming out. Concerts and festivals are preferred, and he goes whenever he can, but he's not averse to just playing the drums or guitar by himself (and being his own lead singer too).
    • A constant patron of a certain British Rock festival. Goes every single year, come rain or shine. Especially rain. Mud King
    • Has a tattoo of Dexter the Download Dog. Where is it? Err... That's a secret... It's a tramp stamp
    • Is an absolute sucker for physical touch. Just, all over his partner... Whoever that currently happens to be. Even if it's non-sexual. He's about the same as a dog; pet his hair, he's happy.
    • His love language is, unsurprisingly, physical touch.
  • Inventory
    • Zippo lighter
    • Wireless Earbuds and Wired Earbuds
    • Backpack containing rolling supplies tobacco, papers, filters, other... things..., 'spare phone', actual phone with about a million Spotify playlists, about two bottles of booze at any given time, backup clipper lighters and a grinder, along with flavoured cones/papers, roach and a very fancy little homemade bong. And more often than not, spare drumsticks and guitar picks.
    • Van keys - he usually keeps a decent toolkit in there at all times. Just in case. As well as the usual essentials for traveling.
    • Wallet containing ID, bank cards, about £50 cash, likely scattered old concert and festival tickets.
    • Various illegal paraphernalia depending on the day - search him or his vehicle and you're likely to find something dodgy.
  • Info for Perceptive Characters
    • Should your character be able to read minds, all I can say is... good luck. Sab's head is a mess and you're not likely to get anything from him of value but self-loathing and drunken rambling. You might, however, pick up pictures of birds, opinions about Game of Thrones and snatches of lyrics.
    • If your character is an empath or can feel others' emotions, Sab is a little hard to read. He gives off an intense sort of emotional static that has the proclivity to drown everything else out. Usually feels like thick, low-hanging smoke: can be either disorienting or comforting. Once you're familiar with him, he's much easier to get to grips with.
    • If your character is affected by others inebriation, maybe it's best not to be around Sab for very long. He's got a very high tolerance and can take a sheer amount of things that would kill some folks.
    • Does your character have a really good sense of smell? Yikes, sorry. Sab smells like a stinky gremlin man weed, stale smoke and booze. Sometimes strong aftershave.
    • Is your character an expert with body language? Sab's a pretty open book, but he's cognizant enough to be able to hide things when he's sober - if he needs to.
    • Does your character have great hearing? Sab's accent might be rather grating on the ears. He's a decent singer, though, and can hold a tune.
    • A trickster? For a drunk, Sab is surprisingly aware. Depending on his state of inebriation, of course.
    • Does your character struggle with their mental health, too? They'd likely recognise the signs. Shirtless, Sab has more than a few "I've gone to hospital for this" scars - his burn scar most visibly, yes, which runs down the side of his neck and his right shoulder/shoulder-blade to his mid -back. But, along with that, he has
      multiple self-harm scars along his arms, inner legs, chest, stomach... He's pretty peppered with them. Some old, some fresh - all visible, at different levels of 'bad'.
  • 'Want to do an anthro RP?'
    Why not! Sab has a pre-existing anthro AU form. He's a Borgi dog, short and fat, with long and shaggy fur. Everything else is mostly the same. Except his scars are hidden by his fur - except his burn, which is just... Well, furless.

    Personality Type: Comes across as ESFP superficially, but is actually ENFP-T

    [*] Rampant usage of nicknames and diminutives (mainly 'mate', 'chick' and 'duck', sometimes 'hun' or 'darlin' if he's feeling sassy)
    [*] Humming and singing out loud.
    [*] He's shirtless way too much in his shared apartment lol to Jack's confused attraction horror.
    [*] Tends to let his hair fall in his face if he's unhappy.
    [*] Boisterous in general; the type to give pats on the back, bear hugs, that sort of thing.
    [*] Always has one earphone in, usually wireless and hidden by his hair - he gets very uncomfortable without constant background music. It tends to keep him grounded and from having panic attacks. However, it also means that he's only half listening at any given time.

    Darkest Secret: Sab has a lot of dark stuff to his name - but they're not exactly secrets.

    Played straight and often with realistic consequences. Though he's fairly young, Sab isn't in great mental or physical shape. Though, mostly, he tends to be closer to the...

    Functional Addict
    Though he's certainly not safe from the damage it's doing, Sab is young enough and careful enough to get away with his bad habits without too much danger to his career or his life. For now. That could change any day. He's not amazingly stable.

    The Gentle Giant
    Hahaha I had to add this trope in. Sab's not, like, that tall... He's actually on the short side. But he's a big guy in terms of his muscle and general... Vibe. The type that could win a fight. Yet... He's a total teddy bear and mostly a pacifist.
