Lost Oak

Audrey Hewet - The Mayor of Lost Oak. Youngest mayor on record, Audrey is in her early 30s. Elected two years previously Aubrey was an upset due to the fact that she eschewed either dominant political party and ran as an independent. Her landslide victory has been attributed to her family's long ties with the area as well as her tireless attitude and aggressive outreach campaign. In her first two years she has spearheaded campaigns to uproot and expose instances of nepotism and corruption among officials as well as multiple programs to boost the sustainability of Lost Oak and its infrastructure.

Audrey is married to her campaign manager and works hard to still devote time to her three young children.

She has been intensely popular with the younger constituents and even a portion of the higher age demographics. Moving so quickly and making so many waves is sure to have ruffled more than a few feathers though. Perhaps with individuals biding their time for the most opportune moment.

Terrance Williams-Wylde - The friendly co-owner of the largest general store Wylde Supplies. Terrance has been in Lost Oak for nearly 20 years. Of average height and in his mid 40s he is quick to lend a hand to the less fortunate. Many of the newer transplants to the village have gotten a start stocking shelves or driving vans with little to no questions into their past. A staunch pacifist Terrance claims to have gotten enough adventure to last several lifetimes in his youth and rarely goes into any form of detail. Likely his husband Henry knows more as the two were inseparable when Terrance first arrived many years ago. The only clues are the lingering sense of distrust Terrance has for all forms of law enforcement and the volunteer wilderness survival classes he teaches.

His opinions and prominence have put him at odds with the mayor a few times, but their shared desire of a better Lost Oaks sees them on the same side more often than not.

Henry Wylde-Williams - The second co-owner of Wylde Supplies. Henry is a descendent of one of the old Lost Oak families. He has a far quieter demeanor than his husband and is often quite content to let Terrance be the face of their interactions. Tall and lean with dark hair Henry is rarely far from a book and will often roll his eyes at Terrance's "less cultured" music taste. His relationship with his parents is strained. Henry's father Robert Wylde disapproves of the couple's relationship with the current mayor and while neither have publicly condemned the relationship, the failed legal attempt to block the use of the family name for the story leaves few doubts over the lack of support.

One of the Founding Families, The Norths have been a historical force in the town. Originally ranchers and teamsters they quickly recognized the potential in the steam engine. The Norths built, owned, and operated the rail station in Lost Oak for decades. They maintained a stranglehold on the towns commerce that resulted in a wide fortune.

This level of power was not appreciated by the rest of the town and before too long, things began happening. Unfortunate things. Startlingly poor business decisions, drunken forest hikes, horrible investments. Eventually a pattern began to emerge. The forces of logic and reason possessed by every elder family member began to decay. After several years the pattern continued as the rising generation came of age and matured.

The reasons were always different. The timing seemingly random. The end result was always the same. A curse of insanity awaited any member of the North line. Some could put it off for years or even decades. Others succumbed weeks after their 18th birthday.

The fortune dwindled. The railroad closed. The numbers in the North clan became a pale shadow of their previous strength by the arrival at the present day. It seemed the supposed curse had been broken when the final remaining North adults were placed on the town council by Audrey Hewit in spite of their opposition to her campaign. They seemed poised to utilize the remnants of funds to re-open the rail yard. Until a late winter accident orphaned the final two North children.

Eldest North. Freshly graduated from High School and feeling entirely unprepared for the choices in front of her. She is currently spending most of her days babysitting a young toddler by the name of Watson for one of Lost Oak's newer "displaced". She is trying to decide what to do once summer ends.
