    you once told me that the human eye is god's loneliest creation. how so
    much of the world passes through the pupil and still it holds nothing. the
    eye, alone in its socket, doesn't even know there's another one, just like it,
    an inch away, just as hungry, as empty.

  • you overhear a conversation...
    “donner has a twin brother, doesn't he?”
    “does he? i haven't noticed anyone.”
    “yeah, the bigger otter with the, uh, tons of patches. looks just like him otherwise, bit of a loudmouth, but much friendlier. i completely forgot to get his name.”

    rumours of a brown penguin being spotted in the jungle have been circulating, suspected to be from the crates that arrive for the otter every week. they all contain some kind of living creature inside, but nobody has ever actually seen what comes out of them.

    a small group of people gathered around to examine a strange, glowing sigil on the wall. before the witness could get a look, seven people had vanished. the sigil was burnt into the wall afterwards; a screaming skull with two snakes for horns.

  • regardless of his initial reaction, he seems very fond of physical affection and compliments. though, usually only from older, larger men. from anyone else, it's a fast way to set off that awful temper of his.

    he can be heard mumbling to himself often, but never in a language anyone can understand. it sounds horrifically warped and unsettling, like it requires more than one tongue to speak.

    occasionally people will find parchments slipped under their doors with crude illustrations of some kind of chimeric beast, labelled as 'lost.' the otter has been spotted handing them out with great concern.

  • he may lack social skills, but he's not unintelligent. he's shown himself to be capable of crafting just about anything anyone can put him up to, pleased to receive praise for his work.

    he's quite the pushover, if you know the right words. sometimes people will demand his clothes and items from him and he'll barely resist. usually it's because they want them washed, gods forbid anyone let months of grime build up again.
