It might take some time for a person to realize just what sort of man they have captured the attentions of when they interact with Giddeon for longer than a few hours - at first impression, he's an excitable fool, easily swayed by the confidence of others. But, given a goal, one might get to watch him metamorphize into a focused serious soul. Giddeon wants to know everything, and if he opens his eyes wide enough, allows himself to listen, there is a strong possibility he will, eventually.
A marquess, not that he would loudly admit as such, of where he hails from, wealth in knowledge and restoration of the arcane purity. Science is treated as the arcane, and intelligence bartered like any other skill, he was raised to chase flights of fancy, just in case they bore fruit. That mindset is why it's so easy to dismiss him, perhaps, as he chases a new interest every other week.
His dark secret is his desire to create instead of simply know how, to do more than just understand but add to the wild wonderful history of such a unique world.
