      "The wolverine rolled up his sleeves to flex his biceps and made sure his jacket was open so he could puff up his chest like a proud little peacock. Then he grinned charmingly at Blue.

      "Hi, hot mermaid!""

        "The rusalka was hunched over her 'work,' using her own claws to scratch against a large piscine-looking skull. It left disorderly marks that seemed random, but it might have held at least some meaning for Blue. Whatever it was, it was unknown. Given the wolverine's introduction, she also didn't seem keen on explaining herself.

        She rose to her full height, looking down at the little man with six cyan eyes. They narrowed dangerously as a crocodilian rumble came from her throat.

        "NNNN. . . NOT. . . MERRRR. . . MAI. . . D. . ."

        The last thing she wanted was to be mistaken for a ruthless, greedy merfolk. No creature had less of her respect, not even the humans."

          "Burt looked up at the much taller, hulking rusalka with nothing short of heart in his eyes. She was the living image of BADASS! Such a powerful and imposing lady surely would like dating a hot daredevil like him, right? Right?...

          It wasn't until he snapped out of his wide eyed adoration that he realized she had answered him. And that she had reacted much like he did when girls mistook him for - - oh no!!

          Oh, no!!

          "Uh - right, right, you are MORE hot and more badass than a mermaid! You are, uh--" Think, think, think!! He had to remedy, there must be some way to make up to her! "... A goddess!" he squeaked, in what he thought was an absolutely irresistible attempt to flirt. "A goddess fierce and mighty like the sea!... And you have pretty eyes too", girls always liked to have their eyes complimented! Right?..."

            "Admittedly, Blue didn't care much for being compared to a mermaid either. Especially since that now, she was being called a 'goddess,' whatever one was. Rusalki knew no gods; they didn't even bother to collectively remember the Ancient that created their kind. Where many species remembered their creators or ancestors, the rusalki had no one. It was also just as likely that their creator had died, following the feral nature of their kind.

            Her shoulders squared as her posture slightly curled forward, though not enough to be on eye-level with Burt. She was still far from that, in fact.

            For once, Blue decided not to react in immediate defensiveness, though she was still on edge. She decided to use this as an opportunity to educate herself. She might as well even help out this strange, furry creature that had happened upon her beach. Thus, she presented the piscine skull to Burt, seeming to beckon him to take it. Whether or not he did, afterwards, she thus spoke;

            "M. . . MERRRR. . . MAI. . . D."

            It was a merfolk's skull.

            Next, she pointed to herself.

            "R. . . RUSSSS. . . AL. . . K. . . KA. . ." She hoped she could get at least her species' name across. "GOD. . . DESSSS. . . W. . . WHAT. . . IS?""
