How it All Began...
G'Day. Nah, just kidding. We don't actually say that. Hi, I'm Victor. I was born in the most beautiful place in the world, Cairns. It is a city in Tropical North Queensland, Australia, gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest. It is almost on the equator, so it is blazin’ hot in the summer and mild in the winter. We can swim year ‘round though, which is the best part. The water never gets that cold, which is why the reef is so huge! But I’m not here to give you a lesson in the ecosystem of a coral reef. Anyway, I was born in a tropical paradise. I’ve got a younger brother, Bandit. I've only got about a year and a half on him though. People thought us twins growing up. We both loved the ocean. Never was there a day we weren't out in it. We swam, surfed, fished, dived for clams and such. We never went to school. Mum taught us to read and write and required us to read a book a week and then summarize it for her to keep our skills sharp. I am formally uneducated, but I am not dumb by any stretch of the imagination.
How did I get convinced to become a pirate?
Bandit and I were always fascinated by ships we would see on the horizon. We would play all the time that we were pirates and practiced sword fighting with sticks that would wash up on the beach. We talked about it as we grew up and one day a pirate ship landed on our shores. It wasn’t often that a ship that big braved the reef, but this one did. The Fairest Maiden she was called, and she was glorious to behold. Bandit fell in love with her at first sight and, because I am an awesome big brother, I let Bandit talk me into following the men as they climbed off the ship and make their way into town. We were little scamps; I was almost thirteen and Bandit was eleven. I was the one who was brave enough to approach some of the men and asked to speak to the captain. After much taunting and teasing of both of us by the men, and us not backing down, they saw we truly meant what we said about wanting to see the captain. We were taken to him and brought on board.
I was made a deckhand and Bandit a Powder Monkey. I watched my baby brother nearly get blown up more time than I could stand. It was a relief the day he became a deckhand with me, and I made sure he did the job right so he could keep it. The harsh treatment of the crew only hardened me and thickened my skin. By the time I was eighteen I lost the romance for the pirate way of life.
I went home. My mother was overjoyed at my return, and the pack took me back happily. Though I had a feeling it would be a short-lived return. The Alpha of the pack wasn't friendly to males old enough to breed hanging around. So I built a hut at the beach and spent all my time surfing and gathering food from the ocean floor. I was able to trade the food and shells for different things I needed to survive. It was a great life. I was happy. -
How I Became A Hunter...
It was all thanks to this guy named Rowdy. He made his way to our shores and seemed to just belong. He joined our group on the beach and by the close of that he was practically a new brother. He convinced me to leave with him on his adventures. I traveled with him and he brought me into the world of hunters.
I trained with him. Learned how to fight the hunters, learned about their weaponry, and such. But what I found I enjoyed the most was being a spy. Even though I'm a big guy, they don't seem to pay attention to me. I'm very good at eavesdropping. I have a knack for remembering details and I can map out attack plans to pass along to my Brother Hunters.
After a few years, I was able to acquire my own boat and I went my own way. Rowdy and I run the same routes still so we run into each other often. He's still my brother. Plus, he's met Bandt and they are thick as thieves.
Once more, my life was enjoyable. I get to travel to all the best surf spots in the world. And, on occasion, get to satisfy my urge for violence and destroy those who would see us wolves extinct. Want to come along on my next adventure? There is plenty of room in the boat.
