Physical Weaknesses
Wing Sensitivity: Their wings are highly sensitive and prone to injury. Extensive damage to the wing membrane can ground a warrior, and a precise incision to the central tendons (clipping) can cripple them permanently.

Balance Issues when Grounded: Because their wings contribute significantly to their center of gravity, having them bound or damaged severely impacts their balance and maneuverability on the ground.

Magical Limitations
Unrefined Power: Most Illyrians possess raw "killing power" but lack the finesse of High Fae. Without Siphons, their magic is described as "messy and unrefined," tending toward "incinerate now, ask questions later".

Siphon Dependency: Warriors rely on Siphons to filter and control their magic. Losing these gems in combat would render their magical attacks volatile and potentially dangerous to themselves or allies.

Tactical & Cultural Weaknesses
Arrogance and Overconfidence: Their warrior culture often leads to underestimating enemies, particularly those they deem "lesser".

In-Fighting and Bloodlust: The competitive nature of their society, exemplified by the Blood Rite, encourages settling feuds through violence. This often results in warriors killing each other for glory or vengeance rather than working as a unified front.

Lack of Tactical Innovation: Their training is often rigid and focused on traditional brute-force aerial maneuvers, making them less adaptable to unconventional ground warfare or new combat tactics.

It is a powerful chemical weapon that neutralizes and suppresses powers and prevents natural healing abilities. When a Fae comes in contact with the poison, it essentially makes them temporarily mortal, susceptible to death as quickly as a human would die from an injury. It drains their powers and prevents their inherent magic from healing their wounds.

Form: Faebane is a blue, gorsian-like stone found in high mountain ranges. It is used in several ways:
As a fine powder that can be added to food, water, or dispersed as a mist in the air.
Embedded in poisoned ash wood arrows (ash wood also inhibits Fae healing).
Fashioned into shackles/handcuffs to capture and contain Fae prisoners, nullifying their magic.

Ashwood serves as the primary physical "Kryptonite" for all Fae, including Illyrians.
For an Illyrian warrior, Ashwood is lethal because it strikes at their two greatest assets: magic and physiology.
Neutralization of Power
When an Illyrian is pierced by or in close proximity to Ashwood, it acts as a magical grounding wire.
Siphon Suppression: It effectively "shorts out" their Siphons, preventing them from channeling their killing power into shields or blasts.
Magic Dampening: If an Illyrian is bound in Ashwood shackles, their internal reservoir of power is completely suppressed, leaving them as vulnerable as a human.
Nullification of Healing
Illyrians possess an accelerated healing factor that allows them to survive brutal battlefield injuries. Ashwood completely halts this process.
The Poisoning Effect: An Ashwood arrow or blade leaves a residual "poison" in the wound that prevents the Fae body from knitting itself back together.

Aerial Superiority
Flight: An Illyrian's primary advantage. They can fly at immense speeds, sustain high altitudes, and perform complex maneuvers that allow them to strike from the sun or drop like stones onto their targets.

Aerial Combat Mastery: They are trained from age eight to fight in the air, utilizing their wings as rudders for sharp pivots and using their massive wingspan to generate wind-force to knock enemies off balance. Ash became a master of aerial archery with both ash and regular arrows. Teaching himself, and others, how to fly in formation to take enemies down quickly from the sky.

Siphon-Channeled Magic
Most Illyrians possess a volatile, dark "killing power" that would destroy them from the inside if not for Siphons. Most Illyrians only require one, sometimes two siphons to control all their power. Ash requires five siphons, while the most powerful of Illyrians require seven.
Siphons are traditionally given to warriors who show exceptional strength and have trained extensively, often linked to the completion of the Blood Rite. Ash received two of his siphons before the Blood Rite and the other three after the rite when he started to show signs of having more magical power than could be controlled by only two.
Siphons come in different colors, including red, blue, and green. However, when Ash's siphons were attached to his armor, his shined with a jewel bright purple. Yet one more way he was set apart from his brethren.
Energy Blasts: They can fire concentrated beams of power to incinerate enemies.
Shielding: They weave their magic into shimmering, translucent shields capable of withstanding heavy impact and magical barrages.
Weapon Reinforcement: They can coat their blades in siphon-fire, allowing them to cut through standard steel like parchment.
Ashwood Reinforcement: Being an Ash Wielder, Ash can hone the power of the siphons into his ashwood weaponry (swords and arrows), making them even more lethal to any who face him in battle.

Physical & Sensory Prowess
Accelerated Healing: While not as fast as a High Lord’s, they can recover from wounds that would be fatal to humans in a matter of days.
Enhanced Senses: They possess predatory vision, allowing them to track movement from miles in the air, and keen hearing adapted for the whistling winds of the mountains.
Superhuman Strength: An Illyrian’s muscle density allows them to wield massive Illyrian blades and carry heavy loads while in flight.

A successful antidote was developed and mass-produced during the war with Hybern, a crucial turning point for the Prythian forces.
Creator: The antidote was formulated by Nuan, an ingenious alchemist and tinkerer from the Dawn Court.
Usage: It is in a powdered form that can be added to food or drinks to proactively protect Fae from the effects of faebane poison.
Limitations: The antidote was effective against the poison itself, but not the physical damage caused by weapons made of, or reinforced with, faebane or ash wood. A weapon made with ash wood could still inflict fatal wounds that would not heal normally.

Even though faebane can be neutralized by taking the antidote, the Camp Lord decided to create a little experiment with the warriors in training. All food and drink at the Windstorm Ridge War Camp contained the antidote for faebane to test if the warriors could build up antibodies and create a natural immunity or heightened tolerance for faebane.

Ash has been shot with arrows that were imbibed with faebane and though he received significant injuries from the weapon, the faebane did little to weaken him. Though his wounds took a little longer to heal than normal, he was not robbed of all his healing powers.
Though it is considered illegal by the laws of the High Fae - The Windstorm Ridge war camp has its own grove of ash trees. Ash trees are highly cold-hardy and capable of surviving winter temperatures as low as -30F (-34C), particularly species like the Green Ash which are common in cold climates. They are deciduous trees that adapt well to freezing conditions.

As part of the daily life of a Windstorm warrior in training, they are required to plant, care for, chop, and weapon build out of the groves of ash trees as the trees mature. It is the hope of the Camp Lord that by having constant interaction with ashwood, the warriors will cultivate a tolerance for the poisonous wood. Much like armed forces in the human land subject their forces to such things as waterboard torture, tazing, or physical abuse during staged interrogation, not to immune them from the affected, but to better prepare their legions for what to expect.

Ash, being an Ash Wielder, handles, carves, and wears ash weapons on his body constantly. Though ash can still kill him, he is not affected as severely as someone who is rarely to occasionally around the wood. He has been cut by an ash blade and shot by ash arrows. His body and magic were still greatly effected, he now knows what to expect when such attacks happen and know how to handle his body so not to cause further injury to himself.
