Calico Sands was founded on the ruins of the Dark Moon pack, a ghost town that was abandoned in the mid-1950s. The ghost town was acquired by the Valley of Fire Pack in the early 1960s, gifted to the pack by a business associate from Las Vegas. When the leaders of the Valley of Fire Pack accepted the ghost town they changed the name to Calico Sands Ghost Town.
Automotives had always been a dominating topic in the Patrick household. Growing up, Dean's father was obsessed with cars and how they worked. Dean practically grew up with his father and uncles out in the garage as they bought cars, dismantled them to figure out how they worked, and then how to put them back together. When motorcycles became available for commercial use, his family starting buying those up too so they could dismantle them and teach themselves all about them. Then came trucks and so forth. Dean, and all his siblings, were all taught about cars. They could all take a car apart and put it back together again single handedly. Dean was the only one to take up the wrench and march into his future with it.

Hours Of Operations: Monday thru Thursday: 12 pm- 11pm Friday thru Saturday: 12 pm- 3am Sunday: 12 pm- 10pm There are an abundance of excellent old-school bars to explore across Nevada, each offering guests the chance to step back in time and revel in the delights of our predecessors. The only problem? These places can sometimes be so detached from the contemporary world that they completely slip under the radar. Not here! Killer liquors, timeless style and classic decor characterise drinks here at The Bird Dog Bar. Often just called the Bird Dog, this cozy bar offers the replica of what it was like in the 1950’s, with not only the aesthetic bottles, but also the patrons and workers themselves. Classic, comfortable, affordable drinks, and the friendliest wait staff you have ever met! What you get here is the most perfect aesthetic and feel of what it was once like, with the background perfectly decorated, the bottles designed in their originality, and all the music that was once popular. A dive bar in the most wonderful sense of the word, entering the Bird Dog is like falling into a time capsule. The walls are coated with concert photos, newspaper clippings and reviews of the past. In a city where we seem to have little sentimental attachment to anything, the fact that the Bird Dog stands today is a testament to the power of music and the loyalty of its fans. |
