Noble dragons (Draco Nobilis) are intelligent, arrogant, powerful, graceful and beautiful in a specialized sense. Noble dragons are huge and winged, can produce an extremely hot flame, and seem to defy normal physics in both their flying and their flaming.

Species:
The European Dragon (Draco occidentalis magnus). Known to most people through their ability to breathe fire and their love of treasure, this species is now confined to a few remote areas. Effective at using language, they shed their skins triennially. They can be found across the globe, each dragon breed preferring their own natural habitat. European Dragons eat large herbivores and dislike human meat as it is quite bitter. Some dragons have domesticated themselves and have become used to restaurant food. Their eggs are blue and purple, becoming darker towards hatching. They are highly intelligent, loving riddles and conversing in Dragonish, English, Latin, and/or French.

Breed:
Black dragons are often found in marshes; however, some have been known to live in subterranean dens. This breed of dragon is merciless by nature, destroying everything in its path, yet it will only attack if the payoff is worth it. They are known to launch massive onslaughts, blanketing the skies in darkness, allowing them to strike unobserved. The black dragon is the personification of evil and ruin in European folklore.

Size:
Black dragon males are typically forty-five to fifty feet long with a wingspan of thrice as big.
The black dragon species is in stark contrast of most dragon species where the females tend to be bigger than males.
With black dragons, the females stand between thirty-five to forty feet long and possess a wingspan of twice the length.

Fitzpatrick's dragon form is fifty feet long with a wingspan one hundred and fifty feet.

Description:
Since he is a black dragon, you can guess that he is black as pitch. However, unlike most black dragons, he had highlights of gold to the horns on his head, down his spine, on his wings, and tail. The gold only adorns those dragons of high importance and nobility.

How do dragons breath fire?

It is believed that every dragon has a piece of iron and flint in its mouth, which it rubs together to create sparks.
Dragons also possess a so-called 'flight bladder', which is formed like a second pair of lungs. These bladders collect digestive gases which provide extra lift during flight. The digestive gases consist of methane, hydrogen, hydrochloric acid from the stomach, and calcium from digested bones. This poisonous gas can be ejected from glands in the upper jaw and if the iron and flint make a spark, then the gases ignite to cause a flame.

Is the poisonous gas used for any other reason than to make flames?
If the dragon chooses not to use the iron and flint in its mouth to ignite a spark, dragons can mix the poison with its saliva that it then spits, akin to the spitting cobra. The poison can also coat the teeth of the dragon and inject poison into its victims like a poisonous snake. If the poison is ingested or injected by a victim, the poison will cause the flesh to dissolve similar to that of a spider’s venom. The poison will cause death even in adult humans in under half an hour. The effects of the bite as the victim is dying has been reported as burning sensations as the venom breaks down skin tissue. This also left behind boil-shaped burns.

How do dragons not get burned or poisoned?
The inside of a dragon's mouth is armored to protect itself from its own flame and poison. The throat is closed by a flap, much like the palatal valve of crocodiles. While this prevents crocodiles from drowning during long periods of submersion in water, it protects the dragon from "swallowing" its own fire and poison. The chemicals that allow a dragon to breathe fire have other side effects to the dragon. One of the side effects is that the poisonous gases will dissolve of the dragon's bones upon death, which explains why dragon bones have never been found.

A fascinating aspect of dragon weaknesses is their susceptibility or resistance to magic. Some dragons are nearly invulnerable to physical attacks but can be subdued by powerful enchantments or divine interventions.

Enchanted weapons: swords or bows and arrows that have been blessed by the gods.
Often depicted as the source of a dragon's power and life, the heart, if it is able to be penetrated, is a failsafe way to kill a dragon.
Dragons have weak scales on their bellies that can be easily pierced by spears. Hitting a dragon's belly can temporarily cause it to lose its magical abilities.

Not all weaknesses are physical; dragons also exhibit psychological vulnerabilities. These include greed, pride, and being outwitted or tricked by cunning heroes.
