Luca doesn’t just hunt ghosts. He excavates them.

Where others see flickering lights and cold spots, he sees patterns. Trauma. Rot. He doesn’t chase shadows; he dissects them, tracking hauntings back to their source like bloodhounds track a scent. Abandoned houses. Burned-out hospitals. Forgotten graveyards. Luca walks straight into the places most people cross the street to avoid, without blinking, without prayer, without salt in his pocket. He catalogues the obsessions that bind spirits to the earth. Listens to what they’re not saying. He knows the weight of grief when it stains a floorboard, the difference between sorrow and spite when it lingers in the air. The whispers in the vents, the blood on the walls, he doesn’t flinch. He documents. He understands.

Every haunting, to him, is a puzzle. A message. A wound. And Luca? Luca knows how to read wounds.

His methods aren’t always gentle, but they’re precise. Meticulous. He approaches the dead not with fear, but recognition, as if some part of him already belongs on their side of the veil. Whatever he finds, he doesn’t run from it. He names it. And in doing so, he drags it into the light.

Whether the spirit wants peace… or revenge. Whatever the story, Luca is there to solve it, and if need be, stop it.

➤ Residual Tracking
Luca can “smell” lingering emotion (fear, rage, sorrow) left behind by the dead. It clings to objects, floors, old wallpaper. He’s able to follow these emotional trails like scent hounds follow blood. Some call it empathy. He calls it rot-sense.

➤ Spirit Communication
Through certain rituals or proximity, Luca can make contact with the dead. He doesn’t always need a séance. Ghosts are drawn to him—sometimes against their will. Sometimes… against his.

➤ Necromantic Sight
Luca sees beyond the veil. With enough focus, he can pierce through glamour, sense spirits in hiding, or glimpse flashbacks of violent deaths. But using this ability too often invites unwanted things to look back.

➤ Arcane Lore & Cursed Object Identification
From ghostbound mirrors to haunted jewelry, Luca’s knowledge of cursed items is vast. He can identify enchantments, break weak bindings, and catalog how and why something is haunted. (Hint: it’s usually messy.)

➤ Ritual Cleansing & Containment
He doesn’t just investigate. He often handles what’s found. Luca knows dozens of cleansing rites, binding sigils, and temporary containment methods. He uses both hydra-blood sigils and traditional occult methods, depending on what he’s facing.

➤ Psychological Profiling (Post-Mortem)
Years of working with the dead have made him damn good at unraveling motives, even or perhaps especially from those who no longer speak. He reconstructs patterns, obsessions, and trauma with terrifying precision.

➤ Possession Risk
Luca’s multi-headed nature makes him harder to possess, but not immune. Certain spirits have attempted to slip into the fractures between his identities. It’s happened once. He doesn’t talk about it.

➤ Mirrors
Hydras and mirrors don’t mix. Luca can read spirits through reflective surfaces, but it’s a double-edged blade. His own reflection sometimes shifts. Sometimes it speaks. Sometimes....it isn’t him.

➤ Emotional Haunts
The deeper the ghost’s grief or guilt, the more Luca feels it. Some cases linger. Some infect his dreams. The worst ones… never truly leave him.

➤His Mouth
Because Luca was born without any real fear in him, he occasionally will mouth the ghosts off, which can and has, gotten him in trouble with whatever place is being haunted.

Essential Equipment

• Field Journal (Bound in Hydrahide)
A waterproof, rune-sealed notebook Luca uses for case notes, sigils, sketches, and last words. The cover is made from a layer of his own shedded scale. It is resilient and blood-linked. The pages smell faintly of ash and old water, and warm in the presence of spirits.

• Spirit Compass
A palm sized device that doesnt point north or south. It points toward the strongest unresolved regret in range, and ticks like a clock when he is near the dead. Sometimes it keeps ticking when it shouldn’t.

• Grave Dust & Ash Pouches
From sacred sites and cursed earth, used to create temporary boundaries, trap echoes, or stir spirits into manifesting. One pouch is labeled in a language Luca claims he never learned. (But knows every word of)

• Hydra Blood Ink
Toxic. Semi-sentient. Used to write temporary sigils or burn wards into objects. Sings in low tones when a spirit is nearby. Never used twice on the same surface.

• Obsidian Ritual Blade
Sharp enough to cut through veils and intentions. Used in ceremonial space-cutting, soul-thread binding, and blood rites. The hilt is wrapped in cord soaked in deep-water oil.

• Mirror Cloth (Velvet, Shadowbound)
Blocks portals, reflections, and mimicry. Used to cover mirrors before or after encounters. Feels warm to the touch, like something breathing. Never unfolds unless he’s calm.

• EMF / Occult Hybrid Device
Built by someone long dead and improved by Luca’s own hands, this device measures spiritual voltage and atmospheric bleed. When it breaks, it usually means something ancient has entered the room.

• Binding Cord (Salt-Dyed Silk)
Used to bind possessed objects or people. Doesn’t burn him like silver would. Draws just enough blood to activate its hold. It requires only a drop, but it always wants more.

• Spirit Bottles (Glass, Etched with Bone Dust)
Used to trap spirit fragments or voices. When full, they rattle. One contains laughter. Another screams at exactly 3:08 a.m. every morning, no matter where he is.

• Spiritproof Gloves (Charcoal-Dyed Leather)
Treated with ash, sea salt, and oil from the Deadwood tree. Protects his hands when handling haunted items or fresh bones. No silver. No holy metals. He’d blister in seconds.

• Cigarettes Laced with Mugwort
Mugwort helps thin the veil, dull nerves, and lure spirits into revealing themselves. Side effect: the smoke sometimes forms shapes. Faces. Names. Regrets.

• Multi-Tool & Lockpicks
Not everything’s magical. Sometimes ghosts just hide behind locked basements. Sometimes, a ghost locks him into a room. These are titanium, not silver. He learned that lesson the hard way.

• Vial of Gravewater (Sealed with Bone Wax)
Used for minor rituals, reveals footprints of spirits. He dips his fingers in it before speaking to the dead. They listen better when you smell like them.

• Bone Collar (Chained with Self-Binding Sigils)
Used to suppress a full hydra shift during volatile investigations. Contains whispers from his other heads, recorded in ancient hydra script. Painful. Effective. Worn only in desperation.

• Multi-Voice Recorder (Cursed Cassette)
Records not just sound, but intent. When multiple heads manifest, this helps Luca track what was said, and who said it. Sometimes it plays back things that were never recorded.

• Head Charms (Worn as Wristbands)
Each one carved to represent a distinct identity within him. Helps him focus, restrain, or channel a specific head. He only keeps two close. The third was stolen, and he doesn’t speak its name.

CASE 001: The Gray Widow of Marrow Street
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Summary: Reports of an elderly woman seen crying on the third floor of a condemned townhouse. Tenants claimed to hear sobbing and “someone dragging metal across the floor.”
Result: The widow had been buried under the floorboards for 47 years. She was murdered by her husband, who later hung himself in the basement.
Notable: Luca was trapped inside for three days. The spirit wouldn’t let him leave until he found her wedding ring, buried in the furnace. She whispered in his ear every night until he did.

CASE 004: The Flooded School of St. Aveline
Location: Rural Louisiana
Summary: Local reports of bells ringing from an abandoned Catholic school deep in the bayou. Waterlogged classrooms, impossible flooding, and sightings of a little girl in a yellow coat who “didn’t blink.” Survivors claim she appeared before bad things happened—whenever the water started rising or shadows moved where there shouldn’t be any.
Result: Luca investigated solo. Discovered the school submerged in ankle-deep water despite no recent storms. Found evidence of a binding ritual gone wrong: a drowned spirit fracturing through time. He banished the main entity, sealed the site with ash and iron, but encountered a secondary presence: a child spirit who was not part of the original haunting.
Noteable: That child remains with Luca, silently warning him when things are about to go wrong.

CASE 017: The Boy in the Shed
Location: Travis County, Texas
Summary: A six-year-old boy kept speaking to “the man with no mouth” in the backyard. No one believed him—until his dog went missing.
Result: Luca discovered the child’s shed was built over an unmarked grave from a forgotten 1912 sanitarium. The ghost, once a patient, wanted someone to listen to his story. Sadly, he was buried alive, misdiagnosed as dead.
Notable: Luca carved the man’s name into the ground. After that, the boy never spoke about him again. The dog came back, but wouldn’t go near the shed.

CASE 026: Whispers Beneath the Lake
Location: Oregon, isolated mountain lake
Summary: Campers reported voices rising from the water, despite no one around. Three people had gone missing over the last two summers.
Result: The lake was feeding on grief. Luca dove into it during the full moon and retrieved a bundle of bones and a waterlogged journal.
Notable: One of the victims was still speaking when Luca pulled him out. His lips had dissolved, but the voice stayed with Luca for days.

CASE 043: The Mirror Room (This was Luca's worst case)
Location: Private residence in Savannah, Georgia
Summary: Every room in the house had a mirror. Every mirror showed a slightly wrong reflection.
Result: Luca discovered the house was built over a convergence of spiritual ley lines. A trapped entity was trying to overwrite reality by infecting reflections.
Notable: Luca shattered all thirteen mirrors. One refused to break. It’s now locked in a box under his bed, and has one shard that lives in his coat. Sometimes it hums.

CASE 050: Knuckle Bones & Nursery Rhymes
Location: Abandoned orphanage, Pennsylvania
Summary: Paranormal team went in and never came back out. Luca went in alone.
Result: Children’s ghosts were locked in endless games, jacks, jump rope, hide-and-seek, with no memory of their deaths. Something older had taken root in the building, feeding on their innocence.
Notable: Luca played their game. He let them “win", using their innocence to free them from that something older.

CASE 064: The Funeral That Never Ended
Location: Louisiana Bayou
Summary: A whole family caught in a loop, reliving their own funeral procession every dusk. No one living had stepped on the property in over thirty years.
Result: Luca walked the entire procession in silence, carrying the last daughter’s portrait. Only when he placed it on her grave did the loop end.
Notable: One of the “dead” whispered in his ear: “See you soon, cousin.”
