As a Padawan under Master Kyrel Deymos, Taren learned diplomacy first and saberwork second. In council chambers and on the fringes of war, his talent was persuasion: not a trick, but a gift for finding the moment when a heart decided to open. When the Clone Wars consumed the Republic, he was knighted and sent to places where blasters usually answered before reason. He made words matter, and when words failed, his blade spoke in clean, elegant lines.

War, however, changed more than borders. Senators bartered away ideals. The Order became an army wearing a monk’s face. Taren watched children drill for battle and felt the doctrine of non-attachment clash with the attachment he felt to a galaxy in pain. Doubt turned inward; ambition took its first breath.

Then came Order 66. His clone commander—the man who once traded jokes over ration packs—raised a rifle. Taren survived, not by heroics, but by bargaining with smugglers who should have sold him for a bounty. Hiding in their shadows, he learned something terrible: how easily hope, fear, and hunger can be tuned like strings. The skill that once made peace now made leverage.

Sith relics surfaced through black channels: cracked holocrons, torn bindings, ceremonial shards that still remembered the hands that bled to forge them. In a forgotten shrine on Nar Shaddaa, the last of Taren’s restraint broke. He did not become a hammer like Vader. He became something quieter and more enduring: a promise that tightens into a chain. Darth Kaelith was the name he took—rebirth by his own choosing.

Kaelith does not stride with banners. He wears the streets: a worn coat, a calm gaze, a concealed hilt. He builds an empire of debts and favors, threading cartels, mercenaries, and informants into a net no one sees until they struggle. He rules by desire. He gives you what you want and leaves you unable to remember when wanting became worship.

To the Empire, he is rumor. To the underworld, he is a king without a throne—yet. To the Sith, he is a rival dangerous not for the fear he inspires, but for the belief he cultivates. And belief, he knows, outlives terror.
