• Description

  Perhaps not the tallest man you’ve seen, but certainly one of the largest. At 7’ 3”, this man weighs in well over 400lbs. Despite his size, he is well proportioned, and walks with a grace one would not expect. He’s not just large, he’s strong too. His muscles ripple with the slightest motion, cascading down his back, and along his arms. His arms are as thick as a man’s leg, and his legs look like tree trunks. It’s a miracle his pants fit at all, they seem to be stretched almost to the breaking point. His dark eyes are almost the same color as his black hair. His ruggedly rounded facial structure suggests only partial European background. The other half appears to be either Mexican, Filipino, or Native American. Whatever it is, it accounts for a slightly more tanned complexion, and a very dark hair color. One thing it surely doesn’t account for is his size. Not many people grow to over 7’ tall, and most of those are white, or black, not in-between.
  He’s wearing a well worn pair of blue jeans, and a white T-shirt. The T-shirt has a picture of three Polar Bears, one of which is drinking a bottle of Coke on it. The words “Always Coca-Cola” are written across the shoulder blades on the back.

• Biography

  Darsus was the third child of four in a household of Ice Stalker kinfolk. His family lived in a cozy house in Anchorage, Alaska. To Darsus, and his family, Gurahl where just a myth, something borne out of the snow and ice. They knew all the old stories that had been passed down for generations, and knew very well that there family had an affinity with polar bears that few others shared. But that’s as far as it went, stories.
  
  That was all to change one early spring morning. Darsus and his younger brother, Jacob where out fishing on a frozen lake. They where about 100 yards from shore, and at least 20 yards from each other just like they had been taught. While Jacob was less than 100lbs, Darsus at 14 was already over 250, unfortunately for him, this apparently made all the difference in the world.
  
  The Ice began to crack silently behind Darsus, so he never even saw it coming. One moment he was sitting on his little stool, talking to Jacob, then *splush* he was in the water. Strangely it was only cold for a moment. Darsus had been in cold water before, swimming during the summer, so he had some idea how long it should take to adjust, and this was much faster. Perhaps he went numb from the cold? In short order, he was able to pull himself out, and crawl to shore, his legs seemed to have cramped, for he had trouble walking.
  
  Once he got safely to shore, Darsus remembered his brother. Turning around, he saw his brother just sitting on his stool, with his fishing pole bobbing in the water, forgotten, starring strait at him. The expression on his face was one of pure, unthinking shock. Darsus called out to his brother, hoping to snap him out of his trance. He succeeded in snapping his brother out of the trance, but in the wrong direction. Jacob collapsed into a sobbing heap.
  
  Still confused as to what was wrong, Darsus stood up and began to walk carefully over to Jacob. Again, his legs did not work right, so he decided to crawl, as that felt far more comfortable. When he reached his brother, he reached out to touch him, and recoiled in surprise. What he saw was not his hand, but the paw of a Polar Bear. Now it all made sense. Well, most of it anyhow. The water wasn’t cold because he was a polar bear, and he could stand, but not walk as easily as he was used to, and his brother had no idea what was going on.
  
  To make a long story short, Darsus is the first Gurahl his family has seen in 200 years. Within a week of his first change, another Ice Stalker, Hides-in-Blizzards, came down from the polar cap to be Darsus’ Buri-Jaan. Blizzards taught Darsus everything he knew over the course of the next 3 years, slightly longer than the usual internship, due to the need for more information to be passed.
  
  The one event that would turn out to shape Darsus’ life started as a game. Darsus and his brothers all loved Coke, more than there parents thought they should have. They would consistently have to defend its virtues over Pepsi with others, but that’s another story. One fateful evening, the four brothers where having another coke slamming contest. Darsus would consistently finish second to his eldest brother Josh. This time, Darsus tried something new. He shifted to Ursus form in an attempt to drink faster. This only worked partially. It didn’t help him to drink any faster, but the sight was so funny, his brothers couldn’t keep from laughing, and spraying coke everywhere. He won that contest, but that’s not the point. He was inspired to make something of this newfound humor.
  
  Having a Buri-Jaan, and learning what he has to teach does not preclude schooling. Darsus had progressed into a Graphics Design program at his High School. The combination of the skills he had learned so far, and the motivation to do something that hadn’t been done before where enough for Darsus. He was able to make a short video clip of a polar bear sniffing around a campsite, finding an open bottle of coke, and tipping it back. Once he finished, he showed his brothers, who couldn’t stop laughing until they ran out of breath.
  
  Darsus couldn’t resist showing his parents either. His father surprised him, and suggested he sign it, and submit it to Coke. He did just that, and was even more surprised when there answer came the next day. They wanted to by it from him. Fortunately, Darsus’ father was a businessman, and knew better than that. Darsus was hired on to Coke’s graphics advertisement team, and continues to collect royalties on the Polar Bears.
  
  Due to his assistance in cleaning up the Endron oil spill (whenever it was that it happened), Darsus achieved the Rank of Uzumati, and learned the Rite of Healing Wounds. The rest is a combination of Schooling, and what his Buri-Jaan taught him.
  
  Recently, Darsus has acquired enough money to leave Alaska forever. He continues to give money to his parents, and brothers, but has always wanted to live in a big city. Compared to Anchorage, Monaco is a big city, and defiantly a different climate. Financially, it seems like a place where his wealth will not separate him from his neighbors, something that he has begun to dislike about Anchorage. For now, Darsus is visiting Monaco, to see if he likes it, and wants to stay. Also, the chance to meet other shifters is something of great allure to Darsus, as he has only met one other, his Buri-Jaan.
