Born one of the Nine Original Muses, he's the modern personification of Erato, the muse of lyrical and romantic poetry. He hasn't gone by the name in decades, and vaguely remembers his sisters, the few that he believes are left. Eros, his "partner in crime", hasn't been seen in decades, and he worries.

Family dying off as modern ages change how the arts are made and appreciated, Zane is stuck crawling in time with the rest of the world. Growing far too attached to mortals has made him weak, and now he's here, slumming it as nearly one himself. Falling for a mortal is the quickest way to lose his grace, and he can feel it slipping away with every hour he spends with another inspired soul.
Before, the love and joy he gave them came without strings, a flighty thing that was quickly forgotten in the rush to create, but now...now people cling to his warmth, his form and he can't breathe.

Once bitten twice shy, he's wary of everyone and everything, even if his personality is bottled joy. Bouncing on heels and tapping fingers to unheard beats, Zane is a grab bag of personalities, at one moment the social butterfly, other times shut in and awkward smiles, as if the world has made him scared for the future.

Pretending he's young and dumb, Zane plays sheltered, picks up knowledge through touch, so it's no wonder he's working at a hospital, pushing for a cover to spend his time surrounded by the creation of life, one of the few things that isn't his need but it's inspiring, to see joy on new parent's faces, help them through the concerns of one of the oldest things. Science has made it so much more difficult to just...live, he's noticed, but Zane doesn't mind learning, changing minds one at a time.

Zane's been here, been to New Versailles, before, ages ago, back when things were so much darker and he helped music breathe life into a world so sad. He's almost forgotten what the accents sound like, and pretending like he doesn't already know the cities past, the layout of buildings now changed three times over, is a lot harder than he remembers it ever being. Concerned, trying to figure out why people want to play pretend at being human, Zane might not always follow the unspoken laws, but he tries.

Hunting is harder now, and with so much more to fight alongside with to just get any attention, it's no wonder Zane's losing his life.
