The Isle of Tel Khalal
Upon reaching the rank of Mouth within House Telvanni, Khalal'brihn Salaniai set about building his stronghold on a small island off Azura's Coast with the help of Telvanni architect Llunela Hleran. The stronghold and the island it was located on came to be called Tel Khalal, after their master.
The tower began to grow. Over the years, it became a monumental tangle of pods and vines, casting a looming shadow over the island's coast. A greenhouse was cultivated and Kwama egg mines were dug into the rocky northern half of the island, a tiny trading outpost springing up near the meagre docks, occupied largely by travelling merchants. All this, under the watchful eye of the master's loyal retainer, S'Rabi.
The master himself was reclusive. His constant suspicion and prickly demeanour discouraged visitors from staying long. A modest inn remained the only permanent structure in the outpost.
Slaves were brought through, from time to time. Some would disappear into the tower, never to return. Sometimes too, the slavers that brought them.
At the beginning of Sun's Dusk, 3E 427, the master of the island disappeared from Vvardenfel along with his retainer. For years, the tower stood empty. Traders ceased to frequent the outpost and the mines went silent, the gardens untended.
