Staff Rules

  • The following rules reflect the appropriate behavior and attitudes that all staff members of Alyria abide by to govern their decisions and actions. As a staff member at Alyria our actions reflect not only ourselves, but our individual choices reflect the name and reputation of the dream and community of Alyria itself.

    If we make a poor decisions or do not follow the proper protocols when addressing a situation, the credibility and relationship we have with our community sours. Thus these rules have been posted for transparency, and all staff are required to agree to them upon being brought on to our team. If you have any questions, concerns, or feel there has been a violation of these rules - please feel free to contact anyone of upper management, or the Rah themselves.

    Respect

    To show regard or consideration for someone’s rights or feelings; to hold someone with esteem or honor.

    • Staff members will exhibit a mature and calm presence when dealing with players and characters.
      • A polite and clam manner must always be used with our members, even when they are exhibiting behavior that makes us upset or irritated. If we feel that we can not handle the situation properly, we will request the intervention of another staff member. Who will then step in, and handle the manner on our behalf. If a situation has compromised us mentally or physically we will take the time needed to recover before returning to our duties.
    • Staff members are expected to carry themselves in a professional manner when dealing with players in an official capacity (i.e handling situations, answering questions, etc.). In our downtime however, while we may be more lax in our behavior and mannerisms, we are still upheld to the same behavioral and dream rules as any other member of the community IC or OOC.
    • Staff members will not make insulting remarks about another staff member, patron, dream, or other entity. While we may have our own personal opinions about things, we will never state or express anything that could otherwise hurt the reputation and integrity of others. We are a collaboration oriented community, and as such we treat those we collaborate with and other Dreams in the same manner we would wish to be treated in kind.
    • Staff members will not correct one another publicly. Take the time to whisper someone politely if you are concerned about their behavior. They might not realize how what they've said could be seen by someone else out of context, etc.
    • Staff members will take the criticism and advice of higher management and peers in a positive manner. Their suggestions are meant to help, and are not made to insult a persons performance. We want everyone to do their best, and grow through improvement.
    • Staff members are actively encouraged to share their workloads, such as setting up events, doing emits, and other duties. Not only does this ease the burden on any one individual, but allows those with less experience in such things to learn and grow from the involvement and experience.
    • If a Staff member has an issue with a fellow staff member it is always best to approach a Manager with your problems. Managers are here to assist staff members with their own personal problems and to help find a solution for the conflict. If a manger is not available, please approach the dream owner for assistance.
    • Staff members will not show favoritism. Everyone within the community has the same access to things as everyone else. As such any official event within the dream will be considered public and able to be attended by anyone by default.

    Accountability

    To show responsibility for one's own actions.

    • If a Staff member finds that they personally have performed in a manner that is deemed unacceptable, they are encouraged to approach higher management (Manager, or Owner) and explain the situation. Being honest and forthcoming will show your maturity and go a long way in showing that you are truly apologetic for the instance.
    • Staff members are considered role models for community members of Alyria. Their behavior is expected to reflect the same that we would expect to see from them. Thus violations of the Dream rules by staff will be handled accordingly to the same standard we would hold our non-staff members.
    • If a Staff member can not be active for an extended period of time please contact management as soon as possible, or leave reason for your absenteeism in the appropriate staff channel of discord. If you can not contact management until you’re able to come online again, please make sure you do so immediately after your return. There is no penalty for needing a personal/real life length of time away from Furcadia, but informing us that your activity is compromised will go a long way. Personal information does not need to be shared.
    • Please use your common sense about your activity. If you find yourself not logging on more then once a month, or not able to perform the duties of your position. Then perhaps it would be wise to consider if remaining staff is right for you, or if an official hiatus or resignation would be better. Prolonged inactivity or 'ghosting' is heavily frowned upon.
    • If a Staff member receives a duty to perform from higher management (event prep, rp systems overhauls, etc.) it is expected that this work will be finished in a timely manner. If you find yourself unable to do the task please speak to the person who assigned this task to you and let them know as soon as possible so that the task may be delegated to another member.

    Confidentiality

    The protection of sensitive, private and classified information that has been entrusted to you.

    • Staff members will never use their positions to take advantage of the sensitive information that is made available to them while performing their duties.
      • This includes personal information received from patrons while providing assistance to them.
      • Also included is personal information received from fellow staff members while working with them.
    • While working at Alyria you may be exposed to classified projects. Examples of these may include but are not limited to Seasonal Updates or Event Work. Any and all information received pertaining to those listed projects is to remain within the identified groups allowed to know about them. No information is to be shared with Guests or Patrons unless officially permitted by higher management.
    • Staff members, who interact with community members in an official capacity, or are involved in staff incidents within the dream. Are expected to make a report of the incident in the appropriate discord channel and provide all relevant information including logs. Said information is not to be shared with anyone outside of the staff member team.
