Rules

This group has been archived by its founder. It may still be viewed, but can no longer be joined or posted to.

  • Basic Rules

    1. The obvious rules apply: no godmoding or power play. This means no controlling other peoples' characters or, if applicable, their Kyrka and pets.
    2. You may freely join the group. However, any character you play here must be approved first via submitting an application on the forums. This is to make sure all Serra are up to code!
    3. This is a whimsical high-fantasy, low-tech setting, so please keep that in mind when you RP.
    4. Read the Setting and Species pages before you submit an application.
    5. Because the setting is so specific, try not to make massive assumptions about things that aren't clear. Making small assumptions is fine, but please ask about large unknowns instead of just filling the gap yourself! :)
    6. IC threads don't have any kind of posting order. You're welcome to fall into one, but an order shouldn't be rigidly upheld, so the RP can keep moving even if one person falls behind. Please be courteous, however; try to give others some time to post. :)
    7. You're welcome to post your Serra character in multiple IC threads at once, though do keep it reasonable. However, if I'm doing a big plot (like a huge frostmaul attack, a hatching, etc.) and people are posting in it, they shouldn't be posting that character anywhere else.
    8. My word, as the GM, is law.
  • Setting Rules

    1. The only PCs you can create are Serra, and they need to follow all the Serra guidelines. When you submit your application, please try to include enough detail that I can be sure you know what you're talking about. ;)
    2. Serra can Bond with a Kyrka between age 7 and 30. So if you're interested in having your Serra Bond, please keep them about within that age range. This isn't a known limit or anything like that, but are the natural extremes. Most people who bond are between the age of 12 and 20.
    3. I choose which Kyrka chick Bonds with which Serra. I also determine their colors, sex, and name, though I can be influenced a little. The size of each clutch of Kyrka is pre-determined, so there may not be enough eggs to go around. Please be prepared for that!
    4. New Kyriders must undergo a few training sessions, to be led by a mature Kyrider. ICly, the training takes months, but it's encompassed in just a few RP sessions.
    5. Getting pets is semi-restricted. In some cases I may start a thread of an abandoned Tenki nest or a Serra in Iral Kay hawking baby Alkaws, and players can come get one. Players can also opt to breed pets they already have (or breed their pets with someone else's, with their permission), and may give the babies to anyone they wish.
      • If you want to breed your pets, just let me know. I will let you know how many babies there are and what they look like.
  • Bonding Rules

    1. If you want your character to bond to a Kyrka, they must show up to the Kyrider caverns when a nest is about to hatch. A mother Kyrka can tell when the hatching is imminent, and will put out a call for all hopefuls.
    2. The number of eggs is pre-determined. In very rare cases, there might be two Kyrka to an egg, but the babies will suffer in some way. Clutches aren't very big, and it's probable that some Serra will go without bonding.
    3. Whether or not you bond is dependent on a few things: your activity, post quality, comprehension of the setting, and good old-fashioned randomness.
    4. If you don't bond, you're welcome to try again at the next hatching. Your character can react however you see fit, but please don't complain OOCly or try to guilt me about the results of a hatching, as that will make you less likely to bond in the future.
    5. The colors and sexes of Kyrka are determined upon their hatching, and they'll tell their names to their bondmate the first time they speak.
    6. While the name and sex of your Kyrka cannot change, the colors can be slightly tweaked between infancy and adulthood. Your adult Kyrka might lose or develop markings, become slightly darker or lighter, and so forth. If you don't ask for any adjustments, I won't make any. Base feather color won't change.
