I'm an individual who is fairly involved in politics. But recently I've had a moment of deja vu. My girlfriend and I were sitting at Arby's yesterday eating lunch together and I was going on about some political pundits I despise. She stopped me and expressed to me that I talk too much about politics. We got into a little bit of a heated debate, but nothing that caused a scene. She told me she simply wanted to spend time with me without discussing politics. Then she made a point that made me sit back and reflect on myself. She says "It's okay to stay informed on what's going on, but don't let politics consume you."
And she's right. I've become so enamored on what's going on around the world that I've lost focus on what's right in front of me. And that's her. This has made me realize that I need to take a break from politics. I would hate for politics to be the reason I lose the girl I love. Politics are important, but she's more important than that.

It's ok to talk about that but there is a time that you have to sit and relax. I think your girlfriend was trying to make you relax and have special moment with her

Been there. Politics can be kind of addictive, but it gets to be too consuming, I know what you mean. You can do it!
