By the way, I (Estella) was messaged by someone this morning, asking to RP. It came out of nowhere since I never made a LFRP, and Estella was made at least a month or two ago so she wouldn't have shown up on the character page.
It seems too convenient that I was messaged like that after getting ghosted, even if it was a good while ago at this point. The only explanation I can think of is that the person who ghosted me (using an anon character) returned with their actual profile out of guilt. That's just my speculation though, and I don't intend to confront them or do anything about it really. It's more of an idle curiosity than anything.
I plan on rejecting them though, since you already went through the trouble of making Sunny, and I don't think I could handle more than one RP of the same kind at a time. Doesn't mean I wasn't happy to see that, though
Anyway, you wanted to ask about the setting right? Definitely fantasy. Heavy on magic, but I'm not quite sure what you mean by Gothic Victorian. I'd say probably not though, based on the light research I did.
If you've got any more questions, now or later, I'd be happy to answer.

I'd call you paranoid on your theory. Lurkers do exist. Maybe they scrounged up the profile from the depths of their search for loli's, or had you tabbed for a rainy day. I'd follow up on it. See what they have to offer ya know? You could always switch up the scenario details to make it different enough to not get things mixed. It's not healthy to depend on just me for all your RP social needs!

The Victorian Era is the typical hotnness for Vampires, given the regal dresses, the dense urbanizing towns with all the splendor of castles built in the medieval age to go with the more recently built gothic cathedrals. I'm quite the lover of Bloodborne, which is dark dark dark gothic victorian (not)england. The first factories and steampunk weaponry are common, with the signature FF style Airships and magitech all over when fantasy is meshed with it. I think it'd fit quite fine given the hundreds of years that have passed... but maybe the war set progress back a few centuries back?
But that's just me educating than trying to convince you. God that sentence sounds pretentious. Im quite fine with a more medieval DnD feel. Iron Age, before guns and certain amenities with a focus on MagiK.
Do you want to have a focus on Holy Magic and Blood Magic? Or is Holy Magic the stuff for binding and harming "unholy" beings? Is it reserved for the use of nobility and/or clergy of the Church? Is it capable of healing, or soley to bind and harm to be the opposite of Blood Magic prolonging life to an unnatural degree? Do you want to be open to having other Magics that aren't common, but exist?
Is Blood Magic a lost art?
And who wants to start? You're invite was hella cute. And a bit creepy~♡

I'm serious. Kobayashi, Danganronpa, hell even the Orphanage was a lot of fun. It's like if you've spent your whole life eating nothing but low-class foods, but then one day you eat a super S-class delicious meal. All of a sudden, the foods you've been eating up to that point would suddenly taste like shit in comparison, right? It's that kind of feeling.
I don't plan on quitting RP for a long time though, so I'm sure I'll find other people to RP with someday. Maybe. Probably.
Ah, I know a bit about the Victorian Era. I do think it's a bit more modern than I was going for with the setting though, as I'd much rather stick to swords and staves, ghouls and goblins, dungeons and dragons, guilds, kings, and the like.
(Magic)
Definitely not. There are loads of other types of magic besides Holy and Blood. Vampires (or those with vampiric heritage) are the only ones who can use Blood Magic, and Holy Magic was designed to kill the now-extinct vampires, so the former has been all-but forgotten while the latter has become obsolete and practically useless.
As for other magic, the sky's the limit. There's the typical stuff like elements, summoning, alchemy, transmutation, etc. But it's also possible to create unique sub-categories by combining different types of magic, being the child of two mages, heavy experimentation (perhaps of the human variety?), etc.
Perhaps Holy Magic can still be used against things like ghouls and ghosts and other "unholy" things, but there should be other means to deal with those things too that makes Holy Magic unnecessary. It was designed purely to combat the OP vampires. I think you're also right about it being reserved for those with special permissions, such as Holy Knights and Church clergy.
...Hmm, now that I think about it, maybe Holy Magic has progressed after all this time. Perhaps back then it was only for fighting vampires, but now it serves a more commonplace purpose. Healing, protective blessings, faster and more efficient exorcisms, etc.
Yup, lots of different kinds of magic. Though that does make me think about races. Should elves have appeared in the 200 years following the war? Dwarves? Beastkin? The idea isn't unappealing, but I don't want to get too crazy with it. Plus, in common lore for fantasy settings, these races are usually around for longer than humans.
Maybe the other races weren't really bothered by vamps as much as humans so they didn't join the war? There could be some animosity between them that carried into today even though most don't even know how it started. But it could also mean that other races won't be so unaccepting to Estella? I wanna hear your thoughts on the subject.
And as for the starter...w-would it be rude of me to ask you to start? Sunny is the "protagonist" so to speak, so the story would mostly follow her own perspective. I'll definitely to my best to assist and guide things along though, but you're totally in the drivers' seat.
Something like her entering the dungeon Estella's in and eventually stumbling upon her dangling by chains would work, unless you have another idea. I can re-post my starter from the last RP for you to use as reference for her position and a tiny bit of the room's appearance if you'd like as well.
If that's okay with you, you can call the topic "Episode 1" or something. Even if we don't end up splitting it into episodes, it can always be changed later. Titles are hard, so we don't need them this time.
You're so convincing in making me not worry you'll continue being a hermit.

I do like being called delicious.
Got it. I'm down for Feudalism! And I love me some monster-folk. It gives me the idea to (with full irony) make the main city around this ancient landmark just pack full of monsters like a Ghibli film. Like just go full ham on the heavy fantasy. Or we can keep it mostly human and have others be the minority.
I like the idea of this Holy Magic _nowadays_(<-- lmao discord Italics) being this universally praised thing that's helped heal and save, but had been born with the sole purpose of destruction, harm, and binding. It's like there's this sort of respect for what it did in ending the war, but also fear and unease that what now is curing wounds once enabled genocide. Getting lots of Nuclear bomb parallels here, with how hesitant society is with using Fusion power.
A name for Modern Holy Magic might be needed. Like Occult for the past, Holy for the modern. Or Divine/Holy. We might not need one if we just keep tabs on Modern and Original Holy Magic. Primal/Modern?
I'm all for keeping magic open. It won't be the focus. I do love solid magic systems that function consistently in a world. I'm for just keeping it "Soft Magic" and explaining it later if need be. It seems like we're going in the direction that Magic is more scientific if the King "Created" it, rather than being blessed with it by a higher being. I wonder if the religious connotations are there to refer to that king being the Savior figure, that the whole religion is based on his miraculous intervention and maybe deified him as a result. Like Talos from Skyrim, who was a man but was revered so much that he was raised to godhood. Our king here probably wasn't literally raised to godhood though. Unless that'd be more interesting? Anyway, what do you think of that?
If Vampires were an entirely human sin and ordeal, I could see humans being ridiculed as idiots or arrogant for nearly killing themselves. Some races might not have cared to distinguish the two from each other, and still find it hard to discern what made Vampires and Humans different because they just don't care. They have their own problems. I can see an old dwarf who lived through those times just sick of the whole thing.
Elves, or any sort of races don't just spring up in 200 years. Naturally, and biologically speaking. If you want to do something unique with Elves and have them be tied to Vampires in some way, like they're a hybrid that's basically gotten the best of both worlds; I think I'd actually find that a tad boring (Maybe flip flop that, and they have the worst of both V's and H's). Elves and dwarves and the other generic tolkien races kind of bore me, unless unique spins on them are taken. I go back to Skyrim and think about how unique their Dawrves are. They're basically higher beings that have probably left the world by now on spacecraft for how high tech they're shown to be. And they're never seen in-game save for their relics, which I really like. ANyway.
Yeah. I'd prefer much weirder and niche monsters/races just for fun. Elves, Dawrves, Orcs, Goblins, I'm cool with though. I really don't like elves though. They're just Better Humans in all regards with no faults save that they're skinny and light. Nah, too close to Vampires, unless again you want to tie them to this somehow. Let's get some beefy Taur-people in here. And hot kitsunes. And a siren. And like... the type of goblins that are really crafty. Ever seen Grimgar Ashes and Illusions? Probably the best Not-Isekai fantasy I've ever seen and I love-hate that genre. Episode 1 is awful. But it has really low-level combat that's super cool to see with the focus just trying to kill puny goblins and how deadly a fucker with knife can be. Like damn. People get shanked by the green midgets.
Why do I feel like Sunny is going to get Walking Dead Season 1'd here

Got it. I'll get on it. Soon as I pass out from this 3- no now 4am ramble. Cool. Yeah. Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooewwwwreghghg
Edit: Slept for four hours and then went full novella. Never go full novella. Maybe sometimes. That was fun. Please don't feel pressure because of it.

>~< I'm sowwyyyyy~
Woke up later than usual today, after 3pm (5pm CDT) to be precise. I'll try and wake up earlier for tomorrow though (today for you I think?). Now let's seeee~
I'm glad I was able to inflate your ego a bit
And I'm a #hermitfolyfe B)
Well, I admit I do like the idea of Beastkin (people like Akira; Mostly human, but with animal parts) appearing in particular, so I do think other races should exist. I still do think that humans should be the majority, at least in the kingdoms and cities. Anyway, here's a list of races we can reference. I could probably make a forum for worldbuilding info like this too:
-Elves can perhaps exist mostly out in areas of wilderness, but many can still be found within human settlements. That would explain why they were mostly kept out of the war.
-Same with Dwarves. They typically exist underground in fantasy stories right? We can go with that too, and make it so that Dwarves are stereotypically good at fighting and blacksmithing, and bad at magic. They can also be found in human settlements.
-As for Beastkin...there are the typical ones for sure: Dogs, cats, rabbits,...snakes? Lamia? Slime-people? Stealing from Monster Musume might not be a bad idea.
-Orcs too. Orcs are big and scary, so they work perfectly as an enemy. Can't wait for them to befriend one tho :p
-Goblins and Slimes go without saying. They're such typical enemies that I can't not want to use them.
-How about Demons? Things like Succubi and...well, we can think of more later. I like the idea of Succubi having another, more formal name like Dreamwalkers, which would reference their ability to enter people's dreams and steal their vitality by...you know...doing it in with the host in the dream. But it can also be used to pass along information or to simply comfort them by sharing a dream together. I guess on the other hand, they could also torment people in their dreams too.
-I mentioned Ghosts and Ghouls earlier, but I'm not sure what the difference between them would be. They'd both definitely be classified as [Undead], like Vampires. Maybe Ghouls are more like zombies, with a physical body but being totally mindless and aggressive. And then Ghosts are more like spirits with no physical body, but still their presence of mind. We can discuss ways to become both later on, if you like the idea.
-And though it's debatable if they count as one, should things like Gods and Goddesses exist? I'm sure it seems like adding too many would take away from the plot, but I think putting these two into the world and exploring it is just as much part of the plot as Estella's own situation. And divine beings just seem to fit right in.
I don't really see a need for other races, but perhaps things like fairies, trolls and the like can appear too. Of course, for the sake of the plot to make sense, the Vampires would still need to be widely infamous as the strongest of the races no matter how many there are. Gods and Goddesses would be the only exception in that case, but maybe that's dependent on the individuals in both races to decide which of the two is stronger.
Phew. That was a good rant. Let me know what you think of what I've presented, and feel free to suggest/add your own ideas to the mix. Moving on~
(Holy Magic)
Keep in mind that the original purpose of Holy Magic has been widely forgotten. The existence of a race called Vampires is the same way. It's a myth at best and a bad memory at worst. If people remembered Vampires too strongly, then it wouldn't be hard for them to recognize traits in Estella commonly found in Vampires, such as red eyes, pale skin, low body temperature, and all of the other weaknesses that she has.
There are undoubtedly going to be times when she slips up and accidentally reveals something that could expose her identity, so it would help if most people weren't very knowledgeable about them. The Inquisition would be the most knowledgeable since their Holy Knights are the ones designed to fight and kill Vampires in the first place. Other than them...maybe older or generally well-read people?
More to your point, most people wouldn't even know that there was a "difference" between the Holy Magic of today and the past. They would just think it was always like it is now. Like, I'm pretty sure the practice of eating eggs and bacon in the morning for breakfast wasn't always like that. I forget how it came to be though.
(Origins of magic)
I don't think it was ever mentioned where magic originally came from? I like the idea that no one really knows its origins, but we can talk about it if you want. It's just, it would be weird if all magic was created by a single mortal, since Blood Magic is unique to Vampires.
Ah, so the typical races bore you?
Sorry... The setting I was going for was more typical than atypical fantasy. Though the inclusion of things like Beastkin was taken from a fantasy story I'd read a while ago. I liked the idea, so I wanted to include it. How bad does it bother you? What kinds of unique twists did you want to keep them interesting?
Elves in particular too, it seems. Why not make them the minority among humans then? Like, they're mostly just used as slaves or workers and are hugely discriminated against, which can create some animosity between them and humanity, especially those that live in the wilderness. And they'd be far from OP like Vampires, maybe with just the typical increased agility/dexterity/magic and a preference for rouge-like things like bows and daggers. Does that work?
Never seen Grimgar. And Isekai is like my genre.
(Sunny-tine)
That depends on if you're planning to kill her off. I certainly don't plan on taking away Estella cuteness by aging her up. That's the whole reason why I made it so that Vampires take waaaay longer to grow than any other race. Eh, either that or Estella's imprisonment has something to do with her youth after 200 years.
THAT NOVELLA WAS SCARY, BY THE WAY. And awesome. SCAWSOME.
I mean, a quote? A QUOTE!? How pretentious can you get!? And more importantly, why haven't you written a book yet!?
Quarter to 1am for me as I finish this, but I started when it was daylight T-T Definitely gonna post again by the way :p

Edit:
I feel like I should've warned that this wouldn't be entirely lighthearted. In my original starter with the last person, Estella was more full of life and hopeful despite being down there for 200 years. But this time I really thought about what it would be like.
I mean, she's been down there for 200 years. Even for a Vampire that's a really long time, especially for a child that was brought there when she was eight years old.
Alone, starved, and in constant pain from the light and Holy Magic-imbued chains, there's no way she'd be okay after all that time. I wanted to take it a step further and at least off-handedly mention the large, disgusting slew of messes beneath her, but I decided that that might have been going a little too far. We'll just pretend that she never had to use the bathroom during that time.
Anyway yeah, I only just now realized how edgy this whole thing really is. An eight-year-old girl watched her parents get killed and then slaughtered an entire town. She was then beaten within an inch of her life and brought to a deep, dark dungeon where she was bound with a seal that causes her constant pain and nullifies her abilities. Then they left her there for 200 years without pause. She hasn't seen or spoken to anyone in that entire time, and is forced to kneel in an uncomfortable position wearing nothing but a white dress, barely more than rags.
...I'll try to balance it out with lightheartedness in the future.

M-menacing OOC length...
You woke up almost an hour before the PTU game started!?!? Well lucky you~ I did too as I think I said that day. So lucky.
Races:
So cookie cutter
where’s your imagination with this stuff! Well, there’s a ton that can be done with the specifics and details to have fun with them. Like when you’re rapid firing these races; I’m thinking “Where’d they come from? What’s their history? What’s their ties to others? What are their conflicts like? Who has the hottest waifus?” Obviously, I dont want to answer all that at once, else Id get bored with all the fun frontloaded. But, I’m not so much a fan of “Well, other fantasy stories have this race. Let’s have it too.” There’s so much possibility when making up a fantasy race! Altering these well known templates could be fun too.
Elves: Yeah I’m cool with them being far off. Again, not a fan of these dagger-eared, self-obsessed grannies always predating on young human males literally a quarter of their age at times! Disgusting 200 year old elf loli...
Dwarves: Typically, Dwarves are not the best at fighting due to their short limbs and awfully short legs. Their the de facto blacksmiths tho, generically.
Beastkin: OwO Nwotices yo bWulging mwonster gwirl fwestish UwU.
Memes aside, I’d rather focus on these given their variety available rather than Tolkien races. Like how’d these things get made? Were their ancestors reaaally kinky? Or do we need a Druid-nature-god figure who combined man with beast for… some reason. I’m also fine with them just being an ancient wizards experiment gone awry. Many possibilities, including one for each Beastkin.
Orcs: Need to get a big tough Orc-kun in here to bond with Estella. Like elves, I see them as just Humans but green, so not a fan.
Dreamwalkers: Hot. Finally I can use Isabelle or whatever her name is… to her FULLEST potential… Maybe not. A dreamwalker as a future enemy/conflict for the Duo to face seems interesting. It could be an interesting way to get a character to see what Estella’s psyche is like, and warn how messed up she is after seeing what she dreams about. Dreamwalker fortune teller who gets her meals through their customers?
This is all a looooot to discuss… Ugh Id rather talk live and take it piecemeal than are old format of super long convos with many threads. Ghouls, Goblins, Ghosts. Ditto on all if you like them.
Ghouls, especially, I see can be VERY importantly tied to Vampires. They could have originated as the Thralls that Vampires kept instead of turning people into full blown vampires. These Thrall-Ghouls back in the day relied on their master for Blood Magic sustenance, else they became feral and mindless. Vampires are all gone, but their some of their enthralled Ghouls (probably their cannon fodder armies) remained; and so they went feral. When they aren’t managed by a Vampire, they lose their mind to bloodlust just like a Vampire and seek to just constantly devour. Ghouls are much less picky about spreading their Ghoulism than Vampires are, who have to worry about people betraying them as was common with brave/foolish Church agents. The modern Ghoul is a feral zombie-ish thing, the generations of infected victims degenerating further and further as the Blood Magic spell transferred from victim to victim weakens. Or maybe it’s getting stronger, if you want them to be the main bane of society these days?
Anyway, Ghosts can be the opposite to them as you said. They could be the Mind/Soul separate of the Body. When a Ghoul goes feral, the Mind and Body separate to create these two evils. Most don’t take too well to the transition into the plane between life and death, and try to get into a body so they can live again. Ghosts could have all sorts of different motivations given they have a mind, even if it’s far gone from a sane one. So much potential… for Kana 2.0...
I definitely want to add my weird race pulls~ but not at the moment. I’ll need to think on it.

“Colleary says that the switch to bacon-and-eggs rose from a marketing campaign:
In the 1920s, Bernays* was approached by the Beech-Nut Packing Company – producers of everything from pork products to the nostalgic Beech-Nut bubble gum. Beech-Nut wanted to increase consumer demand for bacon”
I find the parallel funny. The Church basically ran a marketing campaign to hush hush it all, and the people who remembered it all died out with the fear of going against the church warding off passing down the war’s horror to their children.
At first I kind of thought it silly for just 200 years for this to be forgotten, but if the Church actively did hush hush this and were serious: disappearing those who talked, wiping archives, bribing scholars with high positions in the clergy, etc. Then I could see that. We can’t have the other races recall much either, though there has to be SOMEthing that survived. Some story in place of the truth. The Church can’t influence the entire world, the other races know something fucky wucky went down to cause the collapse of mankind. Even scholars not in the know would be able to look at the history (and lack thereof) to piece that something happened. I find that very intriguing. Pretty typical as Secret Church plot goes. The “Savior” everyone reveres saved humanity from SOMEthing. Why would the church hide the boogeyman their Savior fought to destroy?
Why would the Church do this? I think the question is a major one. One that could tie into who or what or where exactly Blood Magic and/or Vampires came from. I think there’s potential for digging there. Or maybe the Church knows how likely another outbreak truly is? Their fervent vigilance, their knight’s dedication to their duty, the way people disappear when they’re in town. They’re desperately trying to prevent that cataclysmic event from ever happening again, whether the possibility is true or not.
Ahem. If that sound in line with your idea.
I agree on all your thoughts with who’d actually recall the true events. I think a major problem to solve is the Savior Dilemma: Who did the Savior save us from, if Vampires are so well kept hidden?
(Magic)
Yup. Unimportant in the grand scheme of things. The story is centered on these characters driving the plot. No need for a cringy or hasty explanation like Midichlorians to be in our bloodstream. Each Magics history can be different, but the origin of all is unknown and elusive. Probably aliens.
O-oh you address my preference down here… lol after I was hammering it when discussing races up top.
Yeah. If it isn’t hammered home enough, my distaste is only out of boredom because they’ve been done to death. I’d much rather focus on Beastkin, strange non-human beings, and otherwise uncommon folk-lore pulled from different cultures. Big fan of all that.
I think we’re thinking very differently with this stuff. I’m not looking at Elves and wondering if they’ll be good with bows or anything so “DnD Game-y”. I’m wondering what they eat. What are they like? All those questions above I listed. I know exactly how most elves are via how popular they are, and you know how I get bored when I know too much about something.
I love weird fantasy… dont have too many book references for it though.
Again; this is more your thing. If you want to run with this Typical Fantasy flavor, it’s not going to hamper me. I WILL inject weirdness somewhere anyway. It’s pretty much inevitable. Soz.
No, no plans to off Sunny at the moment.
I’m a fan of vampires never aging. Magic and shit. Whatever Magic holds them together might decay at some point if you want Life cycle of sorts, or go the “The more Ancient a Vampire is, the stronger they are” somehow.
“THAT NOVELLA WAS SCARY, BY THE WAY. And awesome. SCAWSOME.
I mean, a quote? A QUOTE!? How pretentious can you get!? And more importantly, why haven't you written a book yet!?”
Waaaaaaaaaaah so mean in your praaaaaaaaise…
Yeah dude these novella OOC plannings take longer than the posts themselves
can we talk on discord? I wanna hang out with you anyway.

Oh god there’s another message.
Hmm… no yeah that’s fucked. Vampires don’t poop. Just wave it off as magic dude. What the hell would they poop anyway? Solid chunks of blo-
*Big Barfs*
I think if this were aimed at Only Adults, a wide circle of scarlet on the ground against the pure light above would make for a nice visual. Somewhere further in the novel, it might come to light that Vampire urine as a lot more blood or plasma, making another sign of Vampirism Pink or Red piss (I think red piss happens under similar circumstances with blood cells in the kidney? I forget). It wouldn't be spelled out, but for folks re-reading they might put together why there's so much blood around her when first seen. Well, it’s not blood… Wow this is gross. Eh. I'm an adult at least!

Oh hell yeah this is all completely edgy in regards to Estella. I am well aware. Having second thoughts? It isn’t too late to alter some details, or redo whole aspects. A simple change you mentioned before is that Estella faded in and out of consciousness throughout. This Savior King might have had her put under a sort of stasis or slumber more for their safety than her comfort. It resulted in much of her time being skipped in an eye blink, like put under by anaesthetic. But, as the spell aged and decayed with lack of maintenance, so too did the stasis effect. This can explain why she can survive 2 centuries with no sustenance. So the last, oh, year or few months or so, Estella has returned to consciousness. She’s been experiencing these intense hunger pains, alone with her thoughts of that day her parents were ousted, and only rats for company. I’d say a week of this is enough to destroy a person’s mind, let alone all that prior stuff. I’d look up a story or two of people trapped in caverns, and see how easy it is to lose track of time.
You woke up almost an hour before the PTU game started!?!? Well lucky you~ I did too as I think I said that day. So lucky.
Races:
So cookie cutter

-Some google search result, circa 2094 colorized.
(Magic)

Okay I just realized my OOC post is also kinda ridiculous. Woops.
I also just realized, sorry if Im ruining something by suggesting, but it'd be super dramatic if - Oh I dunno - a chomping suddenly took place and Estella broke free herself with newfound energy. Or not.

Sorry that took so long. The internet went down for a bit while I was working on the post, and then I fell asleep. It's still not back yet, so I'm using a temporary hotspot. I have no idea if I'll be set for tomorrow's session or not, but I'll let you know if the situation changes.
This hotspot isn't reliable either since it can go on or off at the drop of a hat, but I'll keep in contact if I'm able.
Edit: It also seems that it'll get slower by tomorrow, so I'm still unsure if I'll be able to participate. If I am there, I might not be able to post very quickly, and maaaybe not be able to use the music channel properly. We'll see what happens though.
I, too, find these long OOC posts jarring to make (and even more unpleasant to wait for, since I'm always eager to continue posting), so we can talk on Discord if you want. I'll head over there now if you're up for it.

Ah, finally saw this OOC post. Let's definitely continue on Discord... but Im getting a tad worried you havent responded on there. Now reading this it's probably that your hotspot crapped the bed and you have no internet at all. Sucks if so, but Im kind of just glad to have an explanation handy for the sudden silence.
Please let me know if you're okay as soon as you can~ I hope you havent sweated matters too much in the time you've been without internet.

;-; Kanaaaaaaa
Internet crapped the bed.
AHHHHHHH and while we were working on my current favorite RP and everything!!!
I'm really sorry for vanishing like I did, but don't wait up for me. It's a miracle I was even able to get this out, and I don't know how long it'll last. I'm almost certain I'm going to miss the next sesh, and probably the next several after that.
I pretyped my next post here, and I'll try and upload it if I can. Hopefully we can talk again soon.
Sorry! >~<
