Time Period: Set around the mid-1500s.
Weather: Slight breeze, mid 70F most of the year.
Economy: The island's main exports are it's renowned metals and lumber as well as precious gems. The most advanced and exceptional weapons and armor created are of legendary prowess, but often are kept on the island with watered down versions exported. The island's main imports come from another nearby smaller island in the form of vegetables, fruits and other grain related crops which won't grow in the darkness.

    Townspeople
    Mayor:
    Ilius
A fat feline merchant who lied, cheated, and stole his way to the mayorship. Everyone knows it, but nobody can prove anything. Negotiating with Ilius is likely to end with you giving him the shirt off your back and leaving with nothing, thinking you got a good deal. Ilius owns a piece of most major businesses in town, and employs many of the town's mercenaries as guards for his properties.

    Admiral:
    Aubergine
Standing 4'6" and weighing less than a hundred pounds, this shaggy little terrier doesn't look like much. Her enemies know different; Aubergine has a well-deserved reputation for being an absolute terror with spell and sword both. While she is the Fleet Admiral and commands the naval fleet in battle, she leaves the day to day operations of the Sea Serpents to the Commodore Admiral. She is never seen without a pipe in her mouth.

    Commodore:
    Kalix'nial

    Mine Foreman:
    Peter
A former priest who came to Perdition in pursuit of a runaway, Peter the found his true calling in giving jobs and protection to those who need it as the city's mine foreman. Often regarded as the moral center of Perdition, this big buffalo is always willing to employ misfits in the mines, making sure they are paid fairly, have a place to sleep, and that they have full bellies.

    Harbormaster:
    Xiaomi
A shrewd sea otter with a pinched face who wears her hair in a tight bun, Xiaomi views everything and everyone in terms of cost versus benefit. People say that Xiaomi can tell exactly how much anything (or anyone) costs at a glance. She has a reputation for being socially stunted, and while she is not necessarily reclusive, neither is she good at making friends or reading people. Xiaomi is well-traveled, and knows much about other parts of the world..

    Store Owners:
Loaves & Fishes General Goods Owner: Ruven (NPC)
A Heavenly Bakery Owner: Millie (NPC)
    BethleHEM Alterations Owner: Sadir (NPC)
    The Salvation Owner: Alauntree Baenduis

Belial's castle looms in the forest past the town with a central keep high enough to see over the entire island. The heavily forested land surrounding it is patrolled by his guards and sometimes a guardian. The reclusive regent is rumored to have fiendish traits and employs a diverse force consisting mostly of hybrids such as dhamphirs, cambions, nephilim, half-dragons, half-giants, and reportedly others. All of them gather under him, promised a home free from the persecution and bigotry of others. Belial and his forces rarely show up in town and seem content in sticking to the castle. Guests are welcome to visit Belial to petition for a meeting, but not all are granted an audience.

    Refuge

Posted By Aushi (played by Aushi) on Jun 9th 2018

Three Serpent guards report back to Kalix that Alauntree Baenduis seems to have disappeared. The last she was seen was when they were pursuing her through the forest, intent on arresting her. Currently, she has been given refuge in Erebus Castle. While she is not a prisoner, she is not allowed to...

  • Shadow of Belial

The Shadow of Belial is an unexplained phenomenon on Perdition's Rock, rendering the land permanently dark. Creatures within the Shadow find many of their most powerful magical abilities are dampened. While on any other island an ancient dragon or other great creature might be able to access its true form, on Perdition's Rock such powers are diminished, and simply being within the bounds of the darkness forces them into a weakened form. While within the Shadow, creatures cannot access an external power source that is not physically present, such as a deity or a demonic patron, having to rely on their own mana. Powerful magical artifacts are able to access only a portion of their power, and spellcasters constantly feel a sense of oppression, with powerful spells being greatly reduced in effect. The source of the Shadow of Belial is unknown, and there are currently no known ways around it.
  • Guardians

The island is home to several known guardian creatures which attack invaders, either at the behest of the castle's owner or of their own volition. These creatures are powerful NPCs far beyond the level of a player character.

A sea-serpent rumored to be longer than top-of-the-line ships. The serpent's blue-green scaled body first appeared to attack a rogue ship intent upon harming those docked at the port. The serpent is described as if it is the ancient leviathan of lore, but surely isn't THE leviathan.

An ice dragon rumored to be significantly larger than the tavern roams the skies, often seen in the distance due to its icy breath and chrome-plated scales. The dragon was first spotted attacking an unsuspecting airship encroaching upon the island.

A rarely seen lich prowls the forests close to the castle grounds. The lich is rumored to be a tall, limber, robed mage of indeterminable age and few words. For as long as people have lived on the island, the wandering lich has been spoken of, and although it has not been seen attacking many people, it is rumored to have once defended the castle from an assault on its own.

A tremendous three-headed a hellhound is said to roam caves and can be seen from a distance by its fiery aura. Each leg is rumored to be about the size of a grown man. It is thought to guard either a secret passage or a hidden cache of treasures.
  • Sea Serpents

Sea Serpents, informally called The Serpents, are Perdition's Rock naval fleet, led by Fleet Admiral Aubergine, followed by Commodore Kalix'nial. The uniform is a simple ash grey and navy blue, decorated by a sigil of a blue-green sea serpent. Their numbers are in between 250 and 400 at any given time, depending on the constant flow of new arrivals to the island.
