An Update on What's Been Happening

Greenhaven's canopy is alive with activity as falcon curriers deliver messages of great import to the good people of the Wilds...

Hello. :) I thought it might be time to give a little update on what's been going on with the group, since my activity here has dipped.

I've actually never stopped working on the group. When I started it, I had a lot of ideas for things I wanted to add to the group's pages (Graphics, mostly, such as maps and little scenes that depicted the world.) I also wanted to solidify different NPCs in the canon so that it might be easier to interact with individual threads I had been neglecting, which is totally on me. (Sorry about that!)

But most of all, my goal for the group was to find people who are like me, who have a place in their hearts for gentle stories in scenic worlds far away from our own, whose imaginations' default state land on worlds like those in the Redwall universe, or Ghibli films, or even some indie games like A Short Hike or Yonder.

Life got in the way a bit though, and along with needing to take a bit of respite myself, the group fell into silence longer than I'd have liked. But now, I'm back to working on some bigger changes that I've wanted to institute for a while, and thought I might share some early thoughts:

-Some kind of guild system that people can join and gain accolades in to advance in their chosen guild. I'm not sure how to handle or regulate this beyond appointing people I trust to be guildmasters, but I'd like a less nepotistic solution. Another thought is to just have guilds as something people can define on their character sheets for fun, and maybe just have events crop up that require cooperation or spark competition between the guilds.

-Some more OOC channels for casual talking. I feel like we could all get to know each other better and it's nice to talk easily with the people you play with. I may expend this into a Discord server in future, but I don't know how viable that is right now. I think having some more activity in OOC areas might go a long way to making the place feel like the warm and bright respite I want it to be though. I came to RPR to make friends, and I want to make a place where others can feel more comfortable reaching out.

-More information on the different inhabitants of the Wilds. I will have to find a cost-effective way of storing this information that doesn't amount to plonking it all on my NPC character sheet, but even if the form it takes is only a Google doc or a page on the group with simple blurbs, I will try to make this information readily available and easy to find.

-Some proper art. This one might take a while, but my biggest priority right now is a banner and map. I've gained a bit of mapping experience from running TTRPGs so hopefully I can have something up before the cows come home.

-More events! My mind is bursting with ideas, and I'm nowhere near out of them.

I don't really have an ETA on any of these except the OOC thing, which I will be adding to steadily over the next week. I also welcome others to talk about their hobbies, interests, or inspirations so that we might find threads of connection together. But the other things might take a bit longer, though, they are still being worked on.

Please feel free to leave your thoughts/suggestions in either the Shoutbox below, or in the OOC area for open talk. I believe communities function best when we talk to each other about the things on our minds and in our hearts. :)
