This info covers Danger Levels in a general scope. If you'd like read more about how they work in the context of missions, check out the Creating & Joining Missions Guide! Danger Levels are listed on missions in the #missions-terminal, in World Files, and sometimes in more specific locations in the Research Files areas if the location has a notable difference in safety from the rest of the area. They are considered in character knowledge for those with access to official AotM knowledge on the areas, which can be gained through public computers in the Omphalos, or an agent's Key Gauntlet or Databook. Missions and mission information can only be accessed in character by agents, either through their gear or the terminals in the #temporal-hub. [Level Zero] areas are exactly how they sound. They are considered relatively safe and peaceful, and they generally, but not always have a well-established connection with the Omphalos. At the very least they're considered neutral if not allies.Level Zero areas are also open to non-agents to travel to or live in through the public Gates in Sanctuary's town square or the Omphalos's lobby near the mail room. Those who are considered harmful elements may find themselves unable to use these gates, though, and may have to find other ways to visit. [Level One] areas have a little more inherent danger, or haven't been well explored yet, but are generally considered safe and peaceful. Agents are typically allowed recreational visits or even occasionally to buy residences in these places with a little extra training. They may be places that have no knowledge of the multiverse, or the dangers present may not be considered enough to overwhelm a trained agent, but civilians may not always have the same access to keep either them, or the location itself safe. Allowances differ from place to place with level ones, so reading up on them for specifics is generally helpful. Generally, if a Level One location is restricted to agents, then the agent must still be registered (Clearance Level 1). Agents who haven't registered or finished orientation (Clearance Level 0) are not permitted anywhere civilians also aren't. [Level Two] areas may be completely unknown and unmapped, or may have dangers that may be inevitable to encounter, but may be fairly easy for one or two well trained agents to overcome.Civilians, not so much. Though Civilians can be just as well trained and resourceful as agents, the AotM has no way of knowing this, so Level Two areas and up are restricted to agents only. Generally, even agents need to have a certain level of Clearance in order to visit these places alone. Only Level 2 Clearance and above may go on their own, but Level 1 Clearance may visit if there's a higher ranking agent with them. [Level Three] has a significant increase in danger. These areas tend not to have active Corruption, or very little, but may have significant natural dangers or hostile locals.Risk of injury may be high, and local available resources may be low. Agents returning from Level Three areas are generally required to visit the med bay for a physical and mental check in after. Agents who are below Clearance Level 3 may not visit these areas without a higher ranking agent accompanying them. Clearance Level 3 agents may visit alone, but are advised extreme caution and check ins if they do. [Level Four] areas generally mean some level of Corruption is present, or the locals and environments are both hostile and very dangerous. The area may be under tyrannical rule, for example.Agents with Clearance Level 4 may visit these areas unaccompanied, though it's not generally recommended unless there's no other option. Agents beneath Clearance Level 4 may visit if accompanied by a higher ranking agent unless they are Clearance Level 1, which is not considered experienced enough to visit these areas. [Level Five] is the highest danger level on this scale. This level is reserved for fully Corrupted worlds or worlds where similar level threats are present and all encompassing. Risk of death or worse is often very high.Clearance Level 1 agents may not visit these areas at all. Agents with Clearance Levels 2 and 3 may visit with a higher ranking agent. Clearance Level 4 and up may go alone, but this is considered highly inadvisable and is often fatal. The buddy system is highly encouraged while visiting these areas, with three agents being even better than two. |
