【Heretic】 Starfall - Original Character Heretic is a grumpy, crotchety old machine who has more sores than you have years in your life. He's 672 years old, and after finally having a taste of freedom, he is remiss to let it pass him by. He lives the way he wants to and says the things he's always wanted to; he is not polite, but he can be kind. Heretic can be crass and distasteful, though he still cares deeply for those he calls close friends. Heretic, being the machine he is, does not hold the same morals as humans or other sophonts; to him, the best kind of enemy is a dead one.

It allows him to feel movements in the air around him, similarly to how a shark feels movement in the water. This ability cannot see through solid concrete or other materials; it can only see open air space surrounding him for up to 40ft in any direction. If close enough, this ability is strong enough to feel heartbeats. {You look funny} Heretic's eyes are highly engineered to see in the dark as well as he does in the day. This can be a problem if bright lights are suddenly shone into his face after he's been lurking in dark corners, but it is highly effective when darkness falls, or if no light is available. {You smell funny} Heretic has a vomeronasal organ located at the top of his mouth. While his sense of smell is more tuned than a human's, it is not his main way of finding items or people. It is not as strong as a serpent's sense of smell; he is mostly a visual hunter. His sense of smell can easily be damped out by stronger scents, such as perfumes. He finds perfumes and musks to be obnoxious. {Magnetized} Heretic is equipped with 4 heavy-duty magnets in his palms and soles, allowing him to climb metallic surfaces like a gecko. His weight can make this ability useless dependant on the infrastructure. {Masseters} Heretic has nearly 12 spinning shredders installed in his jaws, 6 of which are retractable and can be replaced with his teeth (they swap places). These metallic shredders are designed to tear through a wide range of polymers and metals. {To the teeth} Heretic is armored from head to toe in thick metal plating made from a specialized metal known as "bohn" {pronounced bone}. It is more flexible than other armor, but it has a special quality most metal does not as it acts almost like a non-newtonian fluid, the harder you hit it the harder it gets. It is far more susceptible to slicing damage than it is brunt force impacts. {Heresy} Heretic, in a state of panic, undergoes a lycanthropic transformation where he turns to his secondary form, Heresy. This secondary form detaches all of his internal ligature systems, allowing him extreme flexibility. It, however, also renders him unconscious. This form is driven by basal instincts, and all directive input is derived solely from backup systems and his brainstem. Heretic has no memory of becoming Heresy. Heresy also responds only to its name, as opposed to Heretic's, when it is active. It is a programmed failsafe to ensure unauthorized personnel cannot command him or divert his attention from his pilot. ❖Weaknesses {Tender foot} Heretic has soft pads and soles, which allow him to be sneaky and extremely quiet, but taking off his soles can cause him discomfort and shift his balance. Heretic is a finely tuned mech, so this can be detrimental to his fighting ability. {Immune system} Heretic is partially flesh and bone, he can catch any number of diseases or parasites. He is extraterrestrial in origin, so how his body responds to certain illnesses can be a toss-up; the common cold for you could be the plague for him. {"I'm in"} Heretic is a machine; he is susceptible to viruses or means of trying to take control of his body. This can trigger Heresy as a failsafe, leaving him unable to make well-thought-out decisions in moments of panic. This is, however, a highly dangerous method to attempt on him, as Heresy comes out to protect itself. {Untrusting} Heretic is old and has experience in combat and warfare. He has been betrayed more than once. He will always expect the worst. Even if he is prepared for the worst, it can still bite him in the ass when he takes action where none is necessary. |

❖ Eye Color: Green ❖ Hair Color: Black ▶ APPEARANCE [Scroll down for reference sheet!] Heretic is a 25-ft-tall pseudomech (false machine). He is covered in crimson paint, paired with shades of black and grey. His armor is covered in scuffs from hardships and hard-won battles. He is equipped with immense shearing talons, long conical teeth set in a black and blue-green maw, and 5 long horns. 4 of these horns are side tines and spread from the sides of his head, 2 of which sprout from his cheekbones. He sports a long lion-like mane that draped from behind his helm, down over his shoulders and down to his waist plating. He has a primarily humanoid build sans his hidden internal mechanisms such as 2 spare arms that are folded tightly under his chest plating. These extra arms are only usable during Heresy. ▎ ▎ ▎ ▎ ▎ ▎ ▎ THE HEART & MIND ▎ ▎ ▎ ▎ ▎ ▎ ▎ ▶ WHO THEY ARE Heretic fights for those who cannot fight for themselves. He knows he's big, and he intends to use it. He can be selfish, taking what he needs for survival when he is alone; he doesn't care for large companies or their sales revenue if he plunders their oil collectives for fuel, or cattle ranchers when he takes a sizable bite from their flock. He feels for those who are similar under someone else's thumb. While it is believed the best kind of enemy is a dead one, if you surrender your weapons, he will refuse to fight. It is an admission of being done with combat, something he can respect. Heretic can be a bully, but it is never directed at someone he believes is undeserving, of course the opinion on who he believes is deserving is not always shared. While Heretic is a surly piece of work, to those he gets to know more personally, he can be quite personable. He had his quirks, being a 25-foot-tall hypercarnivore, though he tried his best to look nonthreatening to those he liked to spend time with. Once you are well known to him, he stops masking his wilder nature and blossoms, allowing himself to worry less about his appearance. He can even allow himself to look silly when comfortable enough. Heretic is 672 years old. His history is pinpricked with stories from over the decades; he has been deployed 12 times into different combat zones, under different names and owned by different companies. He has passed hands many times and had many owners until the battle of the wanderlust, when he used an escape pod to flee a ship in the midst of devastation near Mars. He fell to earth and had his first true taste of freedom. He will give it up for nothing and no one.
