Limits & Triggers
Triggers Triggers are serious things. These are anything that would absolutely ruin your day if you happened to accidentally read them. You need your partners to be extra careful in not including these in roleplays with you. Please remember though, that it's also your responsibility to inform them of these in the planning stage. ⚠ Existential Hoplessness I don't do well with "end of the universe" levels of things. Nuclear apocalypse usually ties into this. Worlds can disappear and horrible things can happen, but there ultimately needs to be hope and a promise of an "after" all of this. After can either be an afterlife or the world/story continuing on somehow. ⚠ Moment of Death: Inner Descriptions I am very okay with violence and death being described physically/gory/etc. I can struggle with reading the dying character's experience of dying. Squicks Squicks aren't quite as serious as triggers. They may just gross you out or make you kind of uncomfortable, and you'd prefer to avoid them if possible, but they won't say, trigger a panic attack. Coming across these may just make you go, 'oh come on, gross!' 🦠Incest I'm okay hearing about it third hand or for the purposes of an Ick, but I don't want details or for it to be passed off as lovey dovey. Jaime/Circe in Game of Thrones is just about my limit, and it goes over often. This includes step-family relations. Limits Limits are personal rules you'd like to set for roleplaying with you that may not fit anywhere else. Things like, 'let's check in if our characters start arguing badly', or 'let's plan out the outcomes of character vs character battles before they start' would be good things to put here. 💭My characters are often emotionally constipated But I'm not! They often are inexperienced and don't know how to express themselves in an effective way.
