Kaze was sitting at a back table at the Sparrow and Hare Tavern, sipping a Juniper Brandy. She had been to Sanctuary a few times, exploring and checking the area out as a potential long-term home. It was colder, which felt better in her thick coat, but the Crackle storms were certainly something to contend with. She could feel when one was nearby by her fur standing on end. She didn't want to get caught in one of those again anytime soon.
She nodded to Jack as he walked by, grinning as he quipped something slightly dirty before carrying on. Kaze had found Sparrow to be warm as well, if a bit stricter, but it kept the place running smoothly. She found herself enjoying spending time here the more she visited. The tavern was a warm respite from the cold, even if it was somewhat warmer than usual because it was summer. After a day of bartering and exploring, she was really looking forward to the elk tenderloin she ordered to fill her rumbling stomach.
She glanced around, spotting several other patrons nearby. A few grouped, laughing in merriment. A few loners like herself are just looking for a warm meal. Her tail lightly waved by her feet in contentment. An employee approached, and she sat up straighter, her stomach growling eagerly. Aw yeahhh, c'mere elk steak! she thought. When it was dropped off, her smile fell, a small involuntary growl as something decidedly not elk was placed before her.
Well thats now what I ordered... She thought, glancing around.

It was Nendara's first time in the Sparrow and Hare Tavern, for all the time they spent in Sanctuary before finally braving the portal to the Omphalos. They'd kept to food stalls and outdoor vendors or really anyone who was willing to trade for food. Nendara had done a little hunting in the forests around Sanctuary in order to barter. But this? This was nice.
The Sparrow and Hare was, well, hopping, to say the least! Plenty of patrons enjoying the warm atmosphere and the warm food. Groups of people laughing, individuals enjoying some peace, and so many of them looked like they were from Somewhere Else. Nendara was finally getting used to that. Not that their own world hadn't been colorful in its own way, but there was so much more variety here and at the Omphalos.
Speaking of the Omphalos, as Nendara sipped their Teaberry Tea, cozy at their table and wrapped up in their cloak, they thought they spotted at least one being they'd seen in passing there. Then a plate of something decidedly not Fish Stew was placed in front of them and they were effectively distracted.
"Um, excuse me! I didn't order-" But the employee had already hurried away with a large tray to tend to one of the larger parties in the tavern. That was unfortunate. Someone was missing their, admittedly, delicious looking steak!
Looking around, Nendara searched for someone else who was maybe just as confused, and to their surprise, it was the same being they thought they'd seen at a distance in the Omphalos. They seemed to have a bowl of something in front of them, so... maybe that was Nendara's stew? Welp... no time like the present for an introduction, they supposed. Gathering up their tea and the massive steak plate, Nendara carefully made their way over to the feline-looking patron.
"Um, excuse me? Did you also get the wrong meal?" The closer they got, the better they could smell that the bowl definitely contained something fishy. "I think that's my fish stew. Is this your steak?"

It's not that the fish stew didn't look good; in fact, she had eaten it several times before. It was delicious and hearty. A good meal to warm the bones from the chill outside. But she had been saving for the steak, deciding to treat herself today after the grueling week she'd had. She had been using the training modules to keep herself fit, but trying to learn about magic and all the ways to protect herself was...intense but necessary.
So seeing the bowl of stew instead of the big ol' steak she ordered made her feel more than a little grumpy. She looked around the tavern; a few larger parties and others grouped at tables seemed jovial, with nothing wrong. Her tail swished, and she was about to stand and take it to the bar when someone approached. They were dressed...well. They were dressed with no rhyme or reason, but it worked for them. Kaze's eyes went big, and she licked her lips as she smelled the steak in her hands. She grinned, her teeth on display, "Oh hell yeah, is this your stew?" She asked with a rumble of her tummy. She actually looked at the person again, squinting as she shifted the stew closer to her. "Hey wait, you're from Omphalos, right? A new agent? Why dontcha join me?" She offered, gesturing at the chair across from her. "Guess they mixed up the food, glad we were able to handle it, they seem a little more busy than usual." She grinned. "I'm Kaze, nice to meetcha," she held out a large furry hand.

Relieved to be able to solve this problem quickly and amicably, Nendara gratefully took the offered seat. "Thank you very much!" They nodded in response to the question about being from the Omphalos. "Yes! I'm new, and an agent! I thought I'd seen you around!" Gods, those teeth were imposing, but also genuinely cool!
Taking the offered hand in a handshake, they offered their name in return. "I'm Nendara. Wonderful to meet you properly!" Normally she'd also lean forward for a greeting sniff, but with everything going on around them, all they'd be able to smell were the steak and the stew anyway.
"So, Kaze, how long have you been here? Are you training for any branch in particular?" Nendara was careful to take a few mouthfuls of stew to prevent themself from asking too many questions at once. People seemed to find it either funny or annoying and they didn't want to annoy Kaze right off the bat. They also didn't want to interrupt Kaze from getting to eat their steak too much either.
