Llamedelos Family
Facts: Once the most powerful family in Olmeid, in the past 10 years, the family has struggled after a disaster destroyed their main town. It is believed that this family has angered the volcano goddess and the family is scattered through out the island and there is a lot of in fighting over who is to take charge of the family as there has not been a family head in the past decade.

History:
Origins. The original father may have been a foreigner or a son of a foreigner and a native. Grew up during the time of the reinstated monarchy that was still under control of the elves. Times were tough and many turned to crime, this Llamedelos was no exception. He and a few others formed a small group that ambushed a few merchants. They favored one small village, but one day they noticed another small group of thugs and thieves robbing he same merchant that they were going to rob. The two groups got into a fight and Llamedelos' group was victorious. The others ran away, the merchant was so grateful that he gave them a portion of his goods. Having already got something and gotten into a fight, the Llamedelos group took their earnings and carried on about their day. Since then that merchant and a couple of others would give the gang a portion of what they earned for protection and not to be robbed. In time the village grew as did the Llamedelos, mostly recruiting all sorts of thieves, murderers, and thugs.

Eventually the guard cracked down on families such as the Llamdelos and began to weed out family members. The family began to turn against itself and others had to go into hiding. After a few uprisings and the final monarchy died, the Llamedelos would make another appearance rising from the ashes as a powerful merchant family that took over the Majhilichite mines and still dominate most of the trade routes.

Specialties:
Makes most of its money through protections. Protects the areas under its control from other families and smaller gangs and factions, but at the same time from themselves. Other portion of money comes from initiating trades between Olmeid and other lands, but usually anything illegal in those lands as long as there are needs for them. Majhilichite is a very important resource to them.

The Kaʻanāʻanā
--Ominous yet quiet family rumored to perform black magic (especially curses) with no proof to the fact does trading with Manoi'i and secretly matriarchal.

History: The conception of the Kaʻanāʻanā family is one shrouded in mystery due to the family's reclusive and secretive nature. The most popular story is this: Makani Kaʻanāʻanā was a wealthy native that maintained his fortune by crafting the best boats. There were many marriage proposals made to him but his heart was set on a common woman that seemed to have come from nowhere. Her name was Leilani. She was a great beauty with the perfect disposition one would hope for in a wife, but only a few years after marriage, Makani died. Alone with three children and Makani’s family to contend with, many believed the woman would ‘go missing’ and the children taken into their grandparents’ possession. Instead, the strangest things began to happen. More of Makani’s family passed away in freak accidents or from apparently natural causes, until the only members left were those that supported Leilani - many that happened to be female. Suspicions were high, yet no one could prove that any wrong-doing had occurred.

As time went on, the new order for the Kaʻanāʻanā was accepted. Leilani, among other contributions to her family, brokered trade agreements with the Manoi’i people to obtain treasures from deep in the sea that would be difficult to come by otherwise. She ensured her sons remained loyal to her and their sister before allowing marriages to commence.

Several generations later and the Kaʻanāʻanā family goes strong and, outwardly, reflects the common behaviors of the other families but rumors are constantly being passed about them - particularly the women whom many believe to be witches.

The Melekahikehio family

Melekahikehio Origins: Began as a clan where it was run by three brothers, two of which got murdered by another clan which sent the third brother on a revenge spree, taking out several members of a rival clan. This led to a lot of fights and clan wars that stretched across the island of Olmeid during the Elven Occupation. In the city Pua’anhi under a crackdown by the Elven government, the Melekahikehio established a temporary peace between their family, the four other families to work with revolutionaries to overthrow the elven overlords. Once the elven government withdrew, the family was mostly decimated and over time secured itself with loansharking, gambling and narcotic use of Majhilichite.

The Leoleoata

The Leoleoata Origins: The Leoleoata family works mostly as a cultish mercenary clan that adopts urchins, orphans and even kidnaps kids to raise in their ranks as brutal killers. Mostly known for working with the Oni/orcs and is more of a found family. More robin hood than most but has a zealot streak that keeps them in trouble with the other families and at times, the temples. Egalitarian.

The Puluwai

The Puluwai Oringins: This family is possibly the family that grew the strongest after the Llamdelos family heads disappeared in the past ten years. They have their hands in everything from gambling to extortion and smuggling. They are also known to have some cannibals among their ranks or they are at least rumored to. At one point in the past the Llamedelos went to war after sending two members of a family over to intimidate them from moving into their territory. The two members were sent back in boxes, dismembered and with the note of “Please send more, these were tasty.” This resulted in an island wide war that recruited the leoleoatas and took the Ka’ana’ana family and the authorities of the temples to quell the chaos.
