◆ Jaded and pessimistic, Efendi still has a caring heart to him. If anything, he's not interested in spoiling people unlike his master – and if he does, begrudgingly so. He doesn't shy to voice his annoyance or thoughts but he's perceptive to body language.
In truth despite his stoic nature, he's more proud and hot-temp-tempered than he let's on. He's not so pragmatic as to ignore consideration, nor is he that judgemental, but he's his own type of petty. He prefers to stick to his own business then get tied into other perogatives.
Efendi is skeptical towards most people, especially with the uncouth as he usually keeps a brass knuckle readied. While sure, he already has a taste for alcohol and experienced less than savoury acts, he's more prone to acting responsible than wild. He lacks the interest in stirring chaos when he prefers to avoid being caught near crimes.
Efendi's time outside of Dhakhalij soured his views of people, but it wouldn't be correct to say he's anything misanthropic. He's indifferent to people as he prefers to keep to himself. Efendi doesn't like socializing with most people, prefering to keep to himself or occasionally entertaining the odd animal or so.
Despite his affiliation with the Tevaksa Monastery, he's known as an Upanagari refugee and stereotyped as either a dirty hoarder or savage con. What's perhaps odd about Efendi is that he's not anything particularly religious. His views of faith aren't anything deep, as his opinions are based around his own experiences or therefore lack of.
Whatever hardships he's faced, he's never misattributed disaster or miracle to any god. He's just someone that believes in the concrete: if he sees it, he sees it; if he doesn't, he doesn't. He's pragmatic that way, or just agnostic. He can't be persuaded that events occurred because a god willed it, as why would a god concern itself with matters unrelevant to itself, but he doesn't deny the presence of any.
As he is now, Efendi is an attendant at the Tevaksa Monastery and retainer to Halim-dvija. It's a change from his previous careers from street-savvy thug and hitman-for-hire to a glorified assistant and bodyguard. It's a simpler life – a tad less exciting but he thinks he prefers it that way. It's much better than hiding to survive due to the turf wars and grudges.
His life is still challenging, just in different ways. He's forced to adapt to strange change that never ceases around him. The world outside Upanagar is so much more different that unwittingly he's particular old-fashioned in some aspects of life. Thus, as he works at Tevaksa Monastery, he receives an education to update his knowledge of the world, the races, and also in magic. In return for these privileges, he runs and supervises errands by the monastery as 'just a courier.'
