As a young infant, Tos’Aëstyra was often ill, lapsing from one childhood illness into another with short times of health in between. With the Ush-tepz' sweeping across Püertagœ at the time, the Tos' family refused to take any chances that would risk their only girl, the heir who would keep the authority of the To'mássœ name within their family. To protect her from the disease, it was agreed that the young Khah’ would be raised in the Sky-Coral Federation by her paternal grandmother, and she was promptly whisked away from Püertagœ.
When the epidemic subsided, still the Tos' family was wary. It was decreed by mother Lénari that Tos'Aëstyra be groomed for the social living in Püertagœ so that she would be prepared for her permanent return to take her place. Tutors were sent to Uwhang to instruct her, and perhaps once every two Tam'nýer—a''n weeks, she would visit Püertagœ and stay there for a day, to get to know her family and begin to acclimate herself to the Püertagœn lifestyle.

Now nearly two years old, the duty of her lineage calls to her more and more, and at Lénari’s beseeching, she was called to return to Püertagœ soon—for good, in order to cement her role and be preened directly by her mother before the time comes.
All in all, Tos’Aëstyra has developed into a lively, refined young woman with a firm and assured air about her. She seems comfortable in herself and has a head knowledge of how to deal with most social situations, but has not necessarily experienced dealing with such firsthand. Despite this, she is an apt learner and is determined to prove to her family and anyone else who may care that she can still be a great heir and a worthy successor to her mother.
The young Khah’s upbringing in Uwhang has certainly tied into her worldview and mannerisms. Unlike most of the women in the social circles, Tos’Aëstyra is humble and down-to-earth. She may be considered just a hair too blunt when speaking with others, as she is more used to speaking plainly than in the implicative, pseudo-polite subterfuge. She can have flashes of impetuousness, recklessness, and impatience that she is still learning to temper, and will sometimes question how and why these social customs are what they are.
