• Description

  He wears a light grey trenchcoat that has rips and tears in it; Sterling has obviously seen a lot of fighting. The hem is tattered and the color is faded. He wears thick-soled boots and is able to walk silently in the forest.
  
  He carries a crossbow and bristles with weapons: two daggers, one inside each boot; a sword either over his back or at his waist; a quiver of bolts on his back or opposite his sword. He also has stakes lining the interior of his trenchcoat, within easy reach should he need one.
  
  He wears a silver pendant: two stakes forming a cross, with a strand of garlic holding it together.
  
  He's often called "Silver" because that's what people think of him by instead of "Sterling". It drives him nuts. He's also not a fan of drinking alcohol--he's a lightweight--and he gets horrible hangovers that leave him nearly paralyzed in the morning.

• Biography

  Sterling was a vampire hunter who was friends with Kai's parents before they were killed in a massive battle against vampires. Against his own wishes, he became a mentor to Kai when the kid reached the age to become a hunter.
  
  Sterling prefers to keep people at a distance because he knows the life of a hunter is risky at best. He'd rather not hurt anyone by dying on them. He will stake any vampire, or kill any werewolf he comes across without a second thought. But when Kai was turned; he found himself helping the kid escape.
  
  Sterling used to hunt werewolves, but switched to vampires after befriending a werewolf named Yeriel. The two began an interesting if complicated relationship bordering on friendship that shook Sterling out of his set ways and gave him a new purpose in life. Deciding to stop sacrificing his body to the wolves thanks to Yeriel's desire that he take better care of himself, he switched to fighting vampires since his hesitation with killing Yeriel had warned him that he was losing his edge.
  
  As for hunting Vampires; he's been doing it for years now; is highly decorated with the silver pendant of his Guild, and has taken out several Master Vampires.
  
  Sterling is strong; able to punch a vampire and knock it off it's feet. He has a bit of silver in his veins which prevents him from turning into a werewolf or a vampire--though he's lost enough friends (and enemies) to both that he doesn't exactly consider that an advantage. It's more like a curse.
  
  He's not above sacrificing himself for the common good--but it damn well better be worth it if he's going to die. None of this "honor" crap, unless it actually changes the future for the better; ie: destroying all vampires or weres everywhere.

• Who He Is--Really

  Sterling has silver in his veins because while his mother was in her last trimester, she was bit by a werewolf. Worried that the baby would catch the syndrome, the moment he was born--he was given several doses of silver. He didn't even have a name for the first six months of his life, as everyone assumed he would die from the silver poisoning. But he didn't die. Instead the silver accumulated into his blood and has turned him into the ultimate werewolf bait.
  
  Should a werewolf bite him, they'll get a nasty taste of silver. Only when his parents were sure that he would live, was he named and given the curse to live with who and what he was. His mother's whereabouts are unknown. His father hasn't been seen or heard from since a massive culling of Weres, leaving 10-year-old Sterling to be raised by a family friend. Sterling took up Hunting at the age of 12 and his father is presumed dead.
  
  Of course...it could be that his father eloped with his mother and both are living werewolf lives...
