  • Description

    Ryokan, or Ryo as only his close friends call him, isn’t necessarily short, but he isn’t exactly tall either, standing at only 5’11. If he’s feeling rather upset or comments are made on it he’ll insist his 6 foot even. He isn’t one to shy from a challenge, ready to take on just about anything he sets his mind to, even if it’s reckless, and because of this he usually has bruises along his body. He’s got an athletic build, covered in lean muscle, but he doesn’t necessarily make an effort to build muscle, remaining on the smaller side.

    He keeps his shoulder length black hair half pulled back into a ponytail to keep it out of his face, though a few shorter strands tend to always fall out and frame his face. His sapphire blue eyes seem to change with his mood, incredibly expressive as he’s not the type to hold back his emotions, especially when he grows frustrated with someone.

    His face is nothing to complain about, some even calling it beautiful instead of handsome, which annoys him to no avail, but there’s not much he can do about it.

    He can typically be found wearing biker shorts and a tank top when he’s running or climbing, but when he’s lazing about or going out with friends he’s more likely to wear a simple button down shirt and a pair of skinny jeans.

    Ryo grew up in a rather loving family. He was an only child and got all the support he could have wanted as he grew up. He got big into running and rock climbing when he was a young teenager and ran cross country through high school. His parents showed up to all of his competitive races and were always eager to cheer him on.

    His senior year of high school he found an abandoned kitten in the snow. As an animal lover he gladly took her in, naming her Rocky and bottle feeding the black cat. His cat is his best friend and he takes her with him just about everywhere. As a bottle fed cat she doesn’t have normal cat behavior and is more like a dog in following Ryo and going on hikes with him. She is Ryo’s most consistent friend.

    Ryo came out to his parents when he was 18. He struggled to really figure out his sexuality, so busy through school that he didn’t have any real relationship. When he did come out he assumed his parents would be supportive. His mother agreed to live him regardless. His father hit him. His parents ended up divorcing over it. He hasn’t really spoken to his father since then, his father wanting to psychoanalyze him as a psychiatrist and insisting his son needs treatment for whatever “turned him gay”. His father has since remarried and is expecting a child with his new wife. Ryo avoids him as he wasn’t invited to the wedding and has been told he won’t be allowed to meet his half sibling when they’re born unless he seeks treatment.

    Ryo was accepted into a good medical school where he is studying to become a pediatrician. He has always loved children and wants some of his own someday, regardless of if he goes through with a surrogate or through adoption. He takes his studies very seriously and doesn’t have much of a social life due to it. He’s gone on a few dates but nothing really serious has come along yet.
